Neil merged with Daa, energy returning in a flood of Investiture. "Sounds good," he said. "I don't think I'd stand a chance against any of those... whatever they are."

Zokora took his hand as well and concentrated on the image in her mind. Then she reached out, used her will like an hammer to make a path for them to take.

Mike looked over at Seom, shook his head.

"Nobody is safe when it comes to them. They will kill us all. They will drag us into their alleys and then they will kill us."

Fear had his voice shake, but gratitude shone in his eyes. That Seom wanted to sacrifice herself for him, that she wanted to protect him. It meant a lot in the middle of all this destruction.

Lord Ajax steelpushed the bullets away with incredible force, blasting them into walls where they exploded.

The creatures were crushed, by them, demolished, squished, ripped to pieces, any number of ways destroying them. In the end, five were left. Nero wrapped it's arms around them, releasing the zombie fungus.

Quote

Then they did their thing. Sorry if it's a bit unreasonable, but I wanted it to still happen

Also, it'll be interesting to see what happens to her with the creatures taken over

Quote

Not much, given that the creatures that have recently been taken over simply have their nervous system hijacked, and infecting their brain won't do much, while those that did have their brain replaced will have a brain relying on completely different cells and structure than those of humans or singers, making hijacking them rather difficult, especially since the nervous system access is still in place as well.

Besides, her cells are rather ... aggressive dealing with intruders, so they'd just find and then digest the fungus, possibly reverse engineering it as well.

As for what would happen if they did manage to take over, Aylitha uses a form of mental barriers that prevents the take-over of one drone from affecting the whole. The creature taken over would become a zombie, but the offshoot's central network would be unaffected, as would the core Aylitha network that resides in the alleys.

Aylitha sighed, disappointed with how fast her creatures got destroyed. She snapped her fingers, and black tendrils erupted from the destroyed creatures, stitching them back together or forming new ones. Others closer to the soldiers started spreading a vague black mist, a virus that would eat those infected from the inside out. The regenerating creatures started chasing after the soldier, though mostly focusing on preventing them from getting back to Lord Ajax. Suddenly something drew her attention to five creatures that hadn't been destroyed. In a few cases the signals their brains were sending where different, though she could still override them. In other cases she could feel something eating away at the brain though. She smiled, feeling interested. She left the two where she didn't control the brain alone, and two others erupted into tentacles that shredded the original bodies, wrapping themselves around the soldier. She left one though, letting the fungus take it's course, interested in seeing how it worked. As an afterthought she shot a message to her other self, warning her of the incoming soldiers.

KanMien watched the bullets explode. Steelpusher? They wondered. They looked next to them, where they had a few magazines with hazekiller rounds. They shook their head. He was flying now, making hitting him too difficult, and it seemed as if someone else was dealing with him already. Looking around they spotted the heavily armored walking arsenal. Smiling they aimed at him and fired a full magazine at him, six bullets total.

Quote

As a quick side-note, these are .50 cal HEIAP rounds, meaning that they explode on impact after which a .30 cal tungsten rod will keep flying, piercing the armor, and they are normally used to destroy/disable light armored vehicles.

Aylitha thought for a second. "No clue about the aluminum," she answered. "I think it's likely though. As for weapons, one looks like a scorpion standing on two legs with wings, covered in spikes, it's a flier, and I think the tail and spikes are likely to be poisoned. The second looks like a mutant clown and carries a large scythe." She tilted her head. "Not sure why though, scythes are horrible weapons. Personal guess is that it's the same reason as it's demented appearance, probably to create or reinforce some kind of fear effect." She closed her eyes, focusing on a number of bugs close to them. "The flier also has some Aons engraved on the armor," she said once she opened her eyes again. "I've got no clue about the effects though."

So, I realize I wasn't exactly clear. Ivan and Alexander are heading for where Mike, Tels, and Seom are. Attila is firing at the block in the direction of Althea and Max. Genghis is, well, now fighting the Jackal, in the opposite direction.

There might, due to misunderstandings, be slight misunderstandings in your posts. Sorry bout that.

A few other clarifications:

Armor is very strong. Not enough to stop those rounds KanMien shot off, but it's gonna be hard to beat.

Alexander's fear stuff is reminiscent of duralumin rioting. It is also specifically targeting parts of the brain, to cause maximum fear.

Think something similar to tracker jacker venom in hunger games. It'll cause hallucinations based off of fear. They won't, to a perfectly sane and very resilient person, be as bad as tracker jacker hallucinations, but the fear response will be many times worse. To not all that sane/easily damaged people, the hallucinations could be worse, and fear will invade every part of their brain. To extremely insane/at risk of insanity, this will ruin their brain. For any one of these groups, it will have lasting effects. It will drag up pictures of loved ones dying, of enemies killing them, of pain amplified a hundredfold.

So yeah, hope that helps.

He doesn't seem very impatient yet, but he's clearly shown himself to be unpredictable. You can try stretching out the conversation a bit.

Aln took a deep breath, and asked, "How long do you expect I shall be kept down here? What's going to happen after the battle?"

He shrugged. "When the city is leveled, then you will be brought back."

Tels looked in the direction that Mike seemed to be looking. There he saw three men. Except... these weren't men. Even from this distance, Tels could tell that these... beings... were something beyond men. They radiated power, and had an air of authority around them. One of them had to be Voidus, but Tels couldn't tell which one was, or who the other two were for that matter. But for the moment, they seemed to want to fight Ajax, and that meant that he wouldn't go for Tels and the others.

Mike began to whisper, fear and worry clearly carrying through despite the low volume. "They are here. They came. They will kill us all. They came. They came." he said simply, but ominously.

Tels turned to Mike looking him in the eyes. "Yes, they've come, for the better or the worse. We'll find out soon enough. It looks like they're here to fight Ajax, and considering that these are gods that are about to fight, I suggest that we leave. "Wes, Tels says we need to go."

He said slightly mechanically, tore his eyes away from the gods. Seom. She was here as well. He wasn't entirely sure, when she'd arrived, but in the end it didn't matter. Getting to his feet he looked at her.

"They are here."

He whispered again stared at the figures. The room, the animals. That man, woman, he couldn't even remember. Only the face. That cold face with the hard eyes. The smell of the antiseptic, the straps around his arms.

"I can't, not with them here. What if they are here as well, want to take me. I don't want to go back. I can't, I can't."

Mike's hand brushed over his spikes again and again and again. They were here. They were his nightmare, his nemesis. They were like the darkest place at night, like the monster hiding under the bed. He had no words to describe them, nothing but the unknown terror that filled him. If he saw them, they could see him. And even the outlines of their bodies were more than he'd ever wanted to see or know.

Ivan landed, dropping Alexander. Alexander stepped forward, the fear response kicking in for anyone nearby. Ivan clicked its wings, and it stepped to the other side of the demonic Alexander.

A distorted voice came out of Alexander. "Fight or flight, little ones. Both will end in death." The fear would make his already eerie voice into something that would haunt them for their entire lives. It was the voice of the monster under the bed, the voice of the shadows shifting in the corner of your eye, the voice of evil. When the fear was gone, the voice would not fade. The appearance would not fade. It would haunt, terrify, and reside in both conscious and unconscious mind.

Neil watched the battle with a sense of detachment. These were beings aeons beyond his limited power, beings that could level cities with barely a thought.

Weak.
The thought startled him. Where had that come from? He fiddled with the ring on his left hand, trying to recall just what memory had triggered such a conception.
His thoughts were interrupted by movement in the battle. The six... creatures surrounding the leader had split up and begun going in different directions. Two of them- one in black, one in blue- were heading straight towards Neil and the others.
He leapt to his feet, reaching out his hand for Daa. "Enemies coming!" he cried.

“That makes sense,” Deteca agreed softly. “A lot of people act like their guild, if they have one, contains the only good people in the Alleyverse and associating with anybody else is a crime.” She picked up a rock that had been next to the one Zokora had just thrown and hefted it in her hand, studying it. “I can’t say I think every guild is packed with perfectly moral individuals, because they’re not. Not even my own.” It hurt forcing that out, but she did it, watching Neil to see if he’d look at her strangely, but he seemed immersed in his own thoughts.

She traced a thumb over a groove in the stone, trying to block out the sounds of buildings collapsing around her. “Sometimes...” She trailed off, then shook her head. That might be going too far. Especially with a woman she’d only just met today, regardless of who she was or what Deteca thought of her. Besides, it was highly likely that Zokora thought her rambling right now was weird. She threw the rock underhand as far as she could, seeing it collide into the side of a broken timber.

“Enemies coming!” Neil yelled, and she looked up. Even as her numbness slowly wore off, even as she gradually warmed up, Deteca was starting to feel exhaustion hit her. It had been a long time without sleep.

She gave the approaching foes one look and then looked at Zokora. “Can we just...leave?” Back at Neil and his seon. “I can’t fight anything right now, much less those. I don’t know about you, but...” She sighed. “Honestly, I just want to let the Dark Alley take over the war for a bit. Or until it’s over and they - we - win.”

Deteca took her hand. “Thank you. And maybe out of Alleycity would be better?” She stared down at the insanity below. “I don’t know what the DA will do, but...they won’t completely destroy the city, I don’t think.” She thought back to her argument with them - had that really only been a handful of hours ago? - and winced.

Zokora took her hand and then closed her eyes. Flee. She was going to flee. And somehow, the thought was alright. Deteca had a point, and she'd offered her protection. Let duty be for someone else. She would follow her instinct. Sera moved sliggtly up and down, showing her agreement. There weren't ones for an open battle. In the dark, without eyes watching them, yes, that was different. There was only one place outside of Alleycity, that she could think of, that might be safe. She pictured the gates, the forcefield and then she nodded.

"Yes, out of Alleycity."

She tightened her hand around Deteca's, smiled at her. In the end, she was right, and Althea was still here. Quickly she sent her a message, informing her that she would get Deteca to safety, but that she could still monitor their troops if needed.

Turning to Neil, she waited for his decision as well.

The Stranger sighed. Here he was, hoping things would be interesting, and the upstart wanted to give him the first blow? The lack of respect was horrendous. How had someone this oblivious made it thus far? Very well, time to give him a wake up call. The Stranger's grin was filled with condescension as he replied

"Oh you young people, gain a few shiny new powers and think yourself a god. Well trust me laddie, you wouldn't make it through the first piece of paperwork."

He gestured to the destruction Ajax and his goons had caused.

"Do you think this impresses us? Child, you really have no idea just whom you are dealing with. You deign to give me the first blow? Time's Teeth but you're a foolish one. Oh well, guess there's nothing for it then. I have but one question for you..."

He reached into his coat and the smell of freshly baked goods wafted through the air, diffusing throughout the city. He pulled out what looked like the perfect chocolate chip cookie, warm and soft and fragrant. It was a thing of Beauty. Then it seemed to disappear.

The Stranger had moved so fast he broke the sound barrier, creating an explosive sonic boom. He rocketed straight towards Ajax, but the instant before impact he drew the aon Tia and vanished, reappearing underneath him.

"Would you like a cookie?"

As he flew upward he grabbed Ajax by the back of the neck and dragged him higher into the sky, then flung him like a ragdoll, snapping his neck with a flick of the wrist. It was a spiteful move, as he doubted it would actually kill him. If it did they had really overestimated him.

"I don't have time to waste on your juvenile displays," he chided, "please try to amuse me, or Voidus will hit me with that 'I told you we were wasting time' look and I hate it when he does that."

@RayOfSunshine @Voidus

Lord Ajax's neck twisted into place like an owl turning its head.

He grinned a little bit, and raised his hands.

"No holding back, eh?" His voice boomed. "Deal."

The air turned to stone around them, a massive, large asteroid sized block falling down onto the city. He appeared on top with a flash of light, the aon fading. His blades scratched along the top, burning the stone. He jumped, using gravitation to get him far above the city. He soulcast a smaller chunk, but still the size of a city block. Then another, this one solid aluminum. He grinned widely, waiting to see how they would respond.

As he waited, he began to sketch aons in the sky, preparing for the Stranger's inevitable response.

Attila's armor broke in too places, and was heavily damaged in others. But out of it came.... nothing. Some sparks, a bit of wire, but that's it. The tracking mechanisms had already turned, tracking KanMien's location, using heat, vibrations, echolocation, images, to get a perfect 3D model of the location. It aimed, and fired bullets that would release a massive burst of fire on impact, and keep going after. Strong enough to stop a Koloss, they were powerful enough that they would go through the wall.

Yeah, that was me misinterpreting stuff, I'll fix that. The soldier in the first post is Nero, the one trying to zombify Aylitha's creatures. Wiith heading back I mean they're harrying the Conquerors so that they won't get back to help Ajax, but they're not seriously attacking, just staying close and forming a perimeter.

Aylitha tilted her head, then looked at Althea. "Nevermind," she said, sounding somewhat annoyed. "My other self was somewhat confused, they're heading somewhere else. There is a walking tank shooting up everything in sight nearby though."

KanMien saw the bullets hit home, but all they saw in the holes was more machinery, no flesh. "A robot?" They muttered, sounding somewhat confused.

They reached out for another magazine when they saw they weapons turn their way. "Ah rusts," they muttered, immediately grabbing the bag instead, throwing themselves out of the window. Explosions buffeted them from above as the bullets it the room they just fell out of. Falling down they shifted the alleys below them, and the scenery changed as soon as they disappeared between the buildings. Their fall immediately slowed down and they softly landed on the ground. They sighed in relief, glad that it had worked, and that they had picked the right alley.

Then another, this one solid aluminum. He grinned widely, waiting to see how they would respond.

Mac shifted his thoughts away from his past and back to the present as the fight began in earnest.

He watched carefully, tapping F-zinc so that he wouldn't miss it. He saw the asteroid appear, and begun tapping it, trying to guess the size of the asteroid, and the size of the alley that could contain it.

Storm it, He thought, giving up on guessing and instead reached for the largest alley he could think of: Alley 65938byt123. It was about 50 miles from one end to the other, and as far as they could tell it had no ceiling or floor. They often used it as a training ground for spaceships, and a garbage disposal. Mac 'pulled' it closer to him, placing it beneath the asteroid and watched as the asteroid fell through the invisible doorway, disappearing into the alleys.

Moving quickly, Mac readjusted the alley as he saw Ajax create a second one, this time the size of a city block. Again, the entrance would be just big enough to catch the chunk, though catch was probably the wrong word. He shook his head, he could worry about how to describe alleymatics when he wasn't concerned with saving the city.

While nothing yet had been that big of a challenge, it was always best to focus on the task at hand. Remember the motives and purpose later, right now, he had a job to do.

He kept an eye on the battlefield, everything moving in slow motion as he tapped his Zincminds, and saw the chunk of aluminum appear. He almost laughed at Ajax's ignorance. While he couldn't stop the Aluminum using investiture, the alleys would be able to easily handle it.

He moved Alley 65938byt123 underneath it, and then watched with satisfaction as it fell into the alleys.

Just like how aluminum would go straight through a gateway from Randland, when a door to a alley was open it would fall right in.

I hope he isn't trying to fight a visually impressing fight, He thought, Alleymatics is rather visually underwhelming.

The Stranger grinned as the meteors disappeared. Having competent coworkers was truly a wonderful thing. But he was using valuable time Voidus had gracefully allowed him. He figured it was time to runs some tests.

He flew through the air towards his foe, lashing himself at speed. Ajax created several more meteorites, but the Stranger soulcast them into smoke obscuring his passage. He closed the distance between them and like last time he teleported. But instead of appearing below him, this time the Stranger just reappeared in front of him. He grabbed both of his opponents arms and twisted, keeping his allomantic bronze active to monitor any changes in investiture. He pulled Ajax’s arms to the side, then tapping Allomantic pewter he ripped off both of his arms. Then, flipping the detached limbs around, he backhanded Ajax with his own arm. It wasn’t the most practical move, but boy was it entertaining.

“I’m sorry, that was childish.” He called out. “I should actually get on with it. But playing with one’s food is such an old habit.”

He wagged one of the disembodied arms at Ajax, “I told you to get serious. Large area attacks are useless, you’re either going to have to be much faster or get creative if you want to make any sort of impression. Because so far the only impressive thing is how uninteresting this fight has been.”

so, how is Mac doing this? His ability to manipulate alleys, or at least to use alleymatics (which I think is how he did the manipulation) was voidmade away, and I didn't see a fix of this in the CD in the other thread.

Care to explain?

Voidus healed his spirit web after the fight.

In addition, a goldmine would also heal void making damage. The Next time he saw voidus they talked about how he was healed.

Also he’s been alleytraveling and using the alleys all era, I thought it was evident that he was able to still manipulate the alleys.

"Fight or flee? You are the one trained in this stuff. Depending on the armour, I can end this by soulcasting his blood to acid. If he's a machine, like the other one partially was, then I can soulcast its wires. Maybe you could riot them, see if you get a reaction. Based on that I can see and talk to the spren. They can also reveal what they are to me, but it's a lot easier if I know what to look for."

Fight or flee. The ever-lasting question. Max calculated the risks in his head, watched the two Conqueror monsters arrive at the rooftop. He knew, deep inside, that it was probably better to flee. To just leave, they would obviously have a higher chance of survival that way. But...

When they had been trying to heal Solace had that mattered? Just killing the evil Epic would have enough, it would have been much, much less risky. But they had still tried. Because they knew it was right.

“Fight,” Max said. “They look tough. Let’s take out one, the others can probably take down the other. We don’t want to stretch up our luck too far out.”

Wes looked to the monsters, the DA, to Mike and Seom. He ran over to them. Tilting his head he heard something about fight or flee from some of the higher ranked Ghostbloods, the ones who probably mattered, who could handle monsters like these. But still:

“Do we fight or flee?” He asked, looking to Mike and Seom. “I’ll stay by your side no matter what, but,” he gestured to the machine gun. “That still has a couple bullets in it that would a shame to not use.”

Wrong Conquerors apparently. According to Ark the only one near to Althea and Max is Attila the walking tank who's shooting up a city block close to them.

“Fight,” Max said.

Althea nodded, her eyes hardening.

"Then let's fight."

She closed her eyes and touched the spren around them, greeted them. The street, the air, the fire. All spren and she always had had a good way with spren. They were easy to bargain with. Openeing her eyes again she kept her awareness of the world around her. So many possibilities ready for her to exploit.

Ark could you please give me some information about the armour and all that? Strong power armour - what material is it made of? I'd like to write a scene of her talking to the spren. And some information about the air supply system.

Thanks a lot.

Grey shook his head as the smurf mimicked a toddler throwing a tantrum, and smashed the ground, sending a bit of fire his direction. He stepped to the side, enjoying the breeze the flame generated at flew past him. It was such a rookie move. Villains needed to learn that raw power wasn’t worth much when you didn’t have any skill. “Well that wasn’t very effective. You just leveled a building, but didn’t give me a scratch. Now, when you fail, not only will you have beaten to a pulp, but you’ll also have to deal with the reams of insurance paperwork that little stunt caused. Not too mention the boom you’ve just given the construction industry. Be careful that you don’t have any investments in that area, or you could be arrested for investment fraud. Fraud, that’s how they always get you. This is of course assuming that you’re alive by the end of all this.” He told the smurf as the Stranger snapped the lad’s neck. He watched as several asteroids appeared, and then promptly vanished, likely taken care by the other Denizens. He couldn’t help but snicker as the smurf’s arms were ripped off. “Now that’s style. Watch carefully. I bet he’ll slap you in that face with them, and then make some quippy line.” The Stranger did just that. “See what I mean? So much more effective. It’s terribly violent, sure, but you also can’t help but feel it’s a little bit funny. It builds rapport with the common man, giving you support for your future empire, while also just being both humiliating and brutal. Plus, it just looks awesome on instant replay. It’s a near perfect execution of a textbook method of attack.” The textbook that he was referring to was the “Villainry: Principles, Theories, and Execution, Advanced Edition”, required reading for denizens. “Calling it now, I bet you’re considering with responding with another blunt force attack. Instead, try something a little more precise. Maybe a dozen Aluminum shards from all directions, or Soulcasting fleshy appendages on his face. The latter is a personal favorite of mine. Nothing like looking in a mirror. Now, let’s see what your smurf brain can come up with.”
