"Um, yes." Ayalin took a hesitant seat on the couch, trying to sit as far from the woman as possible without looking like she was doing so.

Jamie smiled apologetically, standing up again. “I think better on my feet anyway.” she nodded to Leona, who was talking to the other girl, but continued to address Aya. “So, the Metallic Arts. That’s what you and I can do. You’ve already got some idea of how Allomancy works, right? We eat certain metals and can ‘burn’ them to get certain effects. Along with Allomancy is Feruchemy and Hemalurgy. You’re a Mistborn, so it’s unlikely you’ll experience either of those firsthand.” Jamie shuddered, thinking back to some of the terrible creations that hemalurgists had wrought. “Both are similar to Allomancy in that they use metal, and specific metals give certain abilities. But how they work is very different. Feruchemy involves storing one’s attributes in metal to use at a later time. You can’t draw more of an attribute from the metal than you’ve previously stored, but you can use up all of the stored attribute at once, which gives you a burst of power. Hemalurgy...” Jamie shook her head. “Hemalurgy is terrible. I’d rather not talk about it now.” she ran a hand through her hair teasing some of the tangles apart. “There are 16 metals that can be used in the Metallic Arts. Since you’re a Mistborn, you can burn all 16. There’s an equivalent for Feruchemy, that can store attributes in all 16 metals as well. Most Feruchemists and Allomancers only have access to one of the 16 metals. I’m a Twinborn, so I can do both Allomancy and Feruchemy, but with different metals.”

Aya blinked. It was so surreal. She was finally learning about her abilities. She has learned more about all of it in the past two hours then she had in the past two years.

"Wait, did you say sixteen?" Aya cocked her head. "I can maybe do four or five different things. Move metal, become stronger, increase my senses, and sort of mess with people's emotions." She leaned back, thinking. Sixteen metals, one metal for each ability. "What else can i do?"

Fadran Brownshore checks the address written on the sticky note again. Was this really the place? He looked up at the imposing house.

Fadran steps forward, knocking on the door. "Uncle Felix?"

(Heya everybody. Just joinin' in today! :D)

Ah, thank you!

Here's my character:

Name: Fadran Brownshore

Order: Stoneward.
Tension: Can affect the stiffness of an object
Cohesion: Can alter the physical shape of something. Fadran, though, would obviously never use this for evil.

Personality: Fadran has a bad habit of getting himself in sticky situations for seemingly no reason. Because of all the danger he goes into to get things, he’s incredibly attuned to each and every item he has. One could say that he’s attuned to their Identity, seeing the pencil he stole from the principal’s office as more than just another No. 2 Pencil, and more as a spoil of war taken straight from the realm where the Principal resides. He sells his items at a price that he feels the item deserves, often making seemingly commonplace and mundane items incredibly expensive. Fadran also collects peoples’ names, saying that you can find out a lot about people based off of what their name is. He’s also in love with his fedora. DON’T touch his fedora, or he will kill you.

Spren: A salty Stonespren named Avelyn.

Background: What’s with this huge cliche that everything’s got to be super tragic or something? Fadran’s parents didn’t die protecting him. He wasn’t tortured as a child or toughened by the tides of war. He’s a freaking normal dude. Seems like the kind of guy you’d run into at a barbecue and forget afterwards. He had some friends, some enemies. Your average dude.
‘Cept the surgebinding. That bit’s a little weird.

Shana took another step to the side, evading a blow to her head and slamming her elbow into another man's throat. She never stopped moving, continued to whirl around, as if following a silent, wordless choreography. And then, then it was over. She looked up and there wasn't another enemy to be taken care of, only Cassie standing in front of the last one. She was already moving over, ready to kill the Voidbringer before they could hurt Cassie, then she stopped herself. Cassie wouldn't like her hovering around. And Cassie already knew that Shana couldn't protect her all.

Exhaling she let go of her stormlight, kept her weight on the balls of her feet, ready to act, ready to do something should the need arise, but keeping herself back. She could step in, if it became neccessary. If. Hands clenched into fists, so tight that it hurt, she bent down, leaved through the pockets of one of the dead ones, their bodies already cooling. Dead. She had killed again. Mercilessly killed nearly everybody in this house. Only because they had red eyes. Only because they had been following them, because they had been threatening them. Rob's words came to her mind, that this was the right thing, that they had to kill them, before they started killing everybody else and she grimaced, tried to convince herself that this had been right, that this was the her way, her journey. Her fingers red from blood she closed her eyes for a moment, took a deep breath and then straightened again. Nothing. They had nothing apart from the fact that these Voidbringers had followed Jenna. The same Jenna, who was their new teacher at school, if she was still around. You never knew. Doc needed to know and the rest, gritting her teeth she focused her eyes back on Cassie, face pale. They were done here. Maybe Leona could help cleaning everything, maybe Cassie could. Or she - Shana swallowed.

"The bodies." She said quietly, hoped that Cassie would hear, that she had a good idea how to get rid of them.

The cliche (at least in my experience) is because Knights typically have to be “broken” in some way in order to attract a spren.

The Realmatic explanation is that cracks in the Spiritweb (from traumatic experience) allows Investiture to bond itself to a person's Spiritweb more easily.

If it makes you feel better, James isn't very tragic either.

James finally relaxing his muscles, letting go of the pen that had been clenched in his hand. His knuckles had turned white from the pressure. "Well, he finally said, leaning down to pick up the pen and put it back in his pocket "I suppose that's over with." he concluded, trying not to sound shaken. Which, of course, he was. He had never quite gotten used to his role as a warrior. Maybe someday the fighting will end, and I can truly dedicate myself to helping people he thought, and gave a bleak smile. We can only hope.

Edwin saw the bodies and wondered for a moment what would the neighbors think. There were pools of blood and a newly emptied house. Would anyone even notice?

He sat tiredly on the floor, over a spot that hadn't been covered in blood or lost limbs. I need more training. He thought to himself. Incapable of doing much at the moment save for trying to convince himself he hadn't been as useless as it seemed.

Posted

Shana wordlessly squat down next to Edwin and rested her hand on his shoulder. She didn't say anything, wondered if he was worried about the bodies, the fight or just everything in general. She never had been the best person to guess other's feelings, but she wanted him to know that she was here, that he wasn't alone. She had failed Cassie, but she wouldn't fail again. She had to go on, she just had to.

Looking over at James she sighed, and considered his words. "We need to clean up." She stated, made a vague gesture with her free hand towards the blood and the bodies. "If we leave it like that - I doubt police will be able to ignore it, and we already were in trouble, and I don't need another try to explain what we are doing here, why we-" she broke off, not finishing her sentence.

She could turn the bodies to dust, wipe them out of existence, rip the blood apart. She could, although the thought alone made her stomach revolt, when she had to think of Rob's warm skin under her fingers, of his screams. Or she could wait, leave the cleaning up to one of the others. It would be better than having dust lying all over the place anyway.

Everything happened as it did, and in a clash of stormlight, weaponry, fists and Voidbringers it was over almost as quickly as it had started. Bodies littered the ground and Rob lightly touched one with his foot. Dead. He stood like that for a while, taking note of the bodies. Enemies, gone. Not able to harm anyone anymore. It made sense to remove them like this. They’d been trying to find alternatives for a while and to no avail. Doubt would only lead to more dead.

He turned, saw Shana by Edwin, James and Cassie. He quickly scanned his eyes over each of them. No fatal injuries, no one dead, thank the stormfather. Just a testament to how skilled they were at fighting. His eyes drifted over at Shana, the warrior. How many Voidbringers had she taken down?

He walked forward and thought about complimenting her combat prowess, but didn’t. It didn’t seem like the time for that, for compliments. No one looked happy or in a mood for compliments on how good at killing they were. No, practicality was what was needed. Be helpful, Rob. The sphere seemed to agree with this train of thought.

“I can remove them,” Rob said at the talking of bodies. He inhaled deeply and held up his slight glowing hands. “Sink them into the ground. That would leave no trace, would it.?”

I'm assuming you meant the main house? If not, just @ me and i'll delete the post

Leona jumped up. "Someone's at the door," she told Nym. "I don't recognize the voice. Summoning Onyx as a longsword, she slowly walked toward the voice.

"Who are you?" she asked Fadran, brandishing the sword.

Edit: In retrospect, I don't know how many Words I've spoken. Would it just be first ideal seeing as how I'm new, or am I allowed to start at third?

Fadran's eyes follow the sword in disbelief.

"You... you're like me?"

Fadran summons Avelyn as his own sword, then sucks in some stormlight and glows.

You can start at any ideal you want. I started at second and am at the third.

"Sort of," Leona replied, lowering the sword. "I'm an Elsecaller, which means I can teleport and make things into other things. Come one in. Doc will deal with you whenever he gets back. Don't try any funny business or I will kill you," she said, knowing that she would never actually be able to do something like that. "Would you like some cake?"

"What kind of cake? I have angel food and chocolate at the moment," Leona said. "Doc is a Bondsmith who lives here. He pretty much runs the place." She dismissed her blade.

@Dr. Dapper

"Each metal is classified by certain attributes, among other things." Jamie snapped her fingers, looking for something to write on. She found a piece of paper and began to draw on it. First she divided it into four sections, then divided each section by four. She scribbled a few words in each and put the pen down. "So there are four sort of categories of metals. Physical, Mental, Temporal, and Enhancement." She pointed to the four larger sections, "Within each section are four metals, which split into two pairs. The pairs are all either internal or external." Jamie smiled, "It's complicated but I'm almost done. Every pair consists of a metal and an alloy of that metal, which are then classified as Pushing or Pulling. The base metals 'pull' and the alloys 'push'. The best example is the first two metals, iron and steel." she tapped the first two metals on the chart. "Iron allows you to Pull metals toward you, and steel lets you Push them away."

Jamie sat down on the couch, handing the paper to Aya. "From what you told me, you probably have a pretty good grasp of the first eight metals. Iron and steel allow you to literally Push and Pull on metals, tin strengthens your senses, and pewter strengthens your body. Zinc allows you enflame, or Riot others emotions, brass allows you to dampen, or Soothe them. Then there's copper and bronze. Bronze lets you sense others who're using Investiture around you, and with practice you can determine what kind of Investiture they're using. Copper allows you to create a sort of field around yourself that prevents others from sensing use of Investiture."

Fadran shrugs, looking around.

"I... dunno. This is a lot to take in. There are other people like me? I always thought I was just... weird. Different. You say you're an edgedancer, am I an edgedancer? I can make things harder or softer, and I can change the shape of stone."

He looks at his shardblade, Avelyn speaking to him telepathically. told you that there were others. You should honestly listen to your god incarnate more often.

What do you want to say, then? Fadran asks her.

Go for the chocolate cake. Avelyn says.

"And, uh... I'll take chocolate, if you don't mind."

"I'm an elsecaller," Leona replied. "Edgedancers are a different breed entirely. I think you're a stoneward? Or a willshaper? I'm not sure."

She walked over to the fridge and retrieved some of the chocolate cake, before putting it on a plate and handing it to Fadran. "What brings you here?"

Ayalin took the paper. "I... Wow. Thank you." She looked up, glancing at the two newcomers for the first time, chatting with Nym. " And then there's people like Nym, right?"

Fadran takes the cake gratefully. He hasn't eaten in awhile. "I... don't know what those words mean. I came here because... well, my parents said this is where my Uncle Felix lives. I've never met him before. I suppose they knew what I was and sent me to you guys...?"

Avelyn sits on Fadran's plate. She has a strange spren. Ask her about her spren.

"Hey, what's your spren called?"
