Edwin threw himself to the ground. The police? What was the police doing here? What good were they against Voidbringers?

"Do you think they have a doctor?" asked Twin. He looked around. There were as many of them down as there were unharmed. "I really hope so."

The reprecussions of the involvement of law enforcement are pretty legit. Are the Knights going to have to go to the police station to bear testimony? If so, how in the heck are they going to explain what just went down?

Jamie elbowed James and gestured to the obvious police officers. "You guys got any people on the police force? In DC, we've got quite a few Metalborn on the Metro Police." she grinned at the police, dismissing her Shardblade and raising her hands. "Listen, I won't hurt you unless you shoot at me, but I can't say the same for some of the others here. So I'm not getting on the ground or dropping my gun. Though, I will show you my concealed carry permit if you want."

The crystal flickered, when the stone hit it, otherwise it appearen unharmed. It's roots spread deeper into the ground, but now, that most of the Voidbringer it had influenced were down, it did nothing.

For a while at least.

Slowly it's glow started to spread to the first human that had arrived at the scene.

Leona floored the gas, and then noticed the police car. What was going on? Stuff was flying everywhere. A police woman was yelling. Ben and Shana were alive. “Flid, what should we do?”

Flid looked at the cops, then at the others. "Probably get out of the car I guess. It looks like Jamie has it under control though."

All they need to do is say that some men attacked them for no reason and kidnapped their friends. The police won't get suspicious because they can't see/comprehend much of what they are seeing.

“I’m going to make the executive desicion to leave my five foot sword in the car.” Leona said. “If something happens, I can turn it into cake.”

She stepped slowly out of the car and put her hands up. This was not going to end well.

I’m going to be honest. I hate that. I think that the fact that normal people can’t see anything is the worst. It makes it feel like there are no consequences to the knights actions, like the consequences that definitely should come from calling the police. That’s all I can figure out how to put into word right now.

Disclaimer: I am not trying to be rude, and I’m not mad. I’m just expressing my opinion.

Ashlyn quickly positions herself in a position where she can duck into cover if the bad guys decided they didn’t want to comply. Putting her hands up she slowly kneels then puts her gun on the ground in front of her. I swear, they’re going to think I’m one of the aggressors

1. I agree with Wyn and Po here, to an extent. One of the reasons why RPing KR on Earth is so different from RPing KR on Roshar is because there, they're essentially at the top of the food chain. Look at people like Dalinar and Kaladin - yes, their authority gets challenged, but all Kal has to do is whip out Syl. Here things are way different. Not only are we mostly teenagers or young adults, but the United States have law enforcement that's very organized and serious (not to say Roshar doesn't, but you get what I'm trying to say). The same stuff is happening - good guys VS Voidbringers - but with an unknowing populace.

I also do feel like there aren't many consequences that should be there as of now. We Soulcast a giant wall of cake into the road. Are there no other cars here? We can just Soulcast it away, sure, but still! We're carrying around swords and guns and stuff - it's not like they can't see Shardblades, right? They can't see spren and Voidbringers look normal, that's great, but pieces of cloth in the form of throwing knives scattered around, even if they're slack, that's gonna get noticed and be confusing. That's not even covering regular witnesses and/or cameras. Can Sha-thoexis affect cameras?

I'm not saying we have to change our ways of RPing - I love this. But there's a Push to every Pull, a reaction to every action, and this Push has been 163 pages in coming.

2. Yes they are. From what I know about Ashlyn, she could have a permit too (you have to be at least 15), but I'm not sure if swords are in the same category as guns.

3. Good luck. Even if we do say we were the ones who got attacked, we have minimal injuries thanks to Stormlight and it's clear that trained fighters took out most of those Voidbringers. A couple of which, iirc, might be dead? If they are, that's gonna make it even worse, because HELLO MURDER. (Okay, self-defense, but that's if they can convince them it's self-defense - a judge could rule that since the kids were able to handle themselves so well they weren't in danger after all and therefore shouldn't've killed anyone, and besides according to normal circumstances you call 911 and hide or run or something. Fighting is noble, but officially people will say "this isn't your problem, leave it to the trained professionals".)

Wow, I'm rambling. Basically, this is very complicated :P and maybe it can cause character development in that we start being more careful? *shrugs*

And no, I don't think we have anyone on the police.

Could you clarify what it's doing? I'm still confused.

Cassie's on the ground, I'm just not RPing it.

"I'm sorry, miss, but we don't need trouble here. Please lay down your weapon. We'll look at your permit in the station," said a random policeperson as the rest spread out around the area, marveling at the debris. Was that a ton of cake? And what was this plant doing, growing in the road?

I mean, it's not like this is an uncommon experience. Voidbringers and Radiants fight all the time.

Sha-thoexis can affect computer chips, which should include cameras.

She can also make people not notice things like Shardblades and the crystal plant and even all the cake on the road.

Why would the cake not be noticed? It's not Invested.

I get that it's not uncommon - I think that regardless, people should be able to see more.

James awoke to a sharp nudge from Jamie, and came fully aware, as she and the policeman argued about a concealed weapons permit. "Jamie, just put down the dang gun." He said, in a sharp whisper he hoped only she would hear.

"I'm telling you, it's better if I keep it." Jamie sighed, "But, you wouldn't care about that, would you?" she shook her head and dropped the gun. It hit the ground with a clatter.

"I don't know, I personally think, that refusing to drop the gun, is nearly resisting arrest in their eyes" James whispered, sarcasm leaking into his voice like water from a faucet. Then the gun hit the ground next to him, and he gave a jolt of surprise.

I get that you wish things were different. That's why we're switching away from it later. But for now, we've decided that people won't notice things, and that means they can't notice anything.

Sha-thoexis isn't limited to directly invested objects; she also veils the notice of the consequences of Invested actions.

I didn't think "don't notice things" meant everything.

It has to. Voidbringers and Radiants fighting are going to leave messes, and people have ignored them up to this point.

That’s exactly it, though! Them just ignoring our messes (which we should be doing a better job of cleaning up, just IMO) removes all the consequences and tension. It doesn’t feel like an authentic experience.

Itiah's idea was, that it corrupts. That's what it's doing, assuming control.

I agree. Maybe we should change that? Soften it a bit?

Control of their bodies or starting to turn them into Voidbringers or making them think irrationally or none of the above?

Wasn't defined so far. I think control of their bodies is good. Maybe only nudge them slightly like Breeze does.

I’m going to go with nudging them, if that’s okay with you.
