Even from the corners of his subconscious Rob could hear somebody shouting for him to wake up. ... But he didn’t. While others left the dream state, Rob stayed, observing his surroundings. Visualising a chair, he sat back and found himself in a simple oak seat, looking over the destruction while the black mists moved closer. It was just so peaceful, being alone, no one to disturb him. I'm going to make the assumption that is now past the time when people would normally wake up to explain why that would work. She had woken up, she hadn’t died in the dream. He hadn’t felt such pain, such sorrow as he had trapped in that nightmare. Well, for several years at least. But then a disturbing thought occurred to him, one that he immediately wished had never entered his head. ”Is this going to happen every time we fall asleep?”
