"No problems." Doc smiled, suddenly realizing he'd slept in his clothes, "Ah me. I'm reverting back to my collage ways." he laughed, getting out of bed.

Wait, I thought he was standing up. Did Cassie just hug him lying down?

That works.

Unless you want to have them talk more, which I'm also cool with:

I moved back quickly. "Er, sorry again. I'll leave."

Doc watched as one by one, each Radiant disappeared, waking up in the real world. Even from the corners of his subconscious Rob could hear somebody shouting for him to wake up.

...

But he didn’t.

While others left the dream state, Rob stayed, observing his surroundings. Visualising a chair, he sat back and found himself in a simple oak seat, looking over the destruction while the black mists moved closer. It was just so peaceful, being alone, no one to disturb him.

He will wake up eventually :)

Leona heard the others moving around upstairs. Had they woken up from their respective dreams?

She left her rather large container of Ice cream at the kitchen counter and ran upstairs. "Is everyone alright?" she called.

Timezones argh....

It's going to be much, much harder to wake someone up from a Sha-thoexis induced or aware dream under normal circumstances. I'm going to make the assumption that is now past the time when people would normally wake up to explain why that would work.

Attempting that at a time when your body was not ready to wake up would just send you back into your unawakened nightmare.

"If this is a dream... perhaps..." A pistol appeared in Doc's hand and he raised it to his temple. He squeezed the trigger and exploded into Stormlight with a bang.

Doc's eyes snapped open, taking in the view of his room. He checked his watch. 5:30 AM. Rubbing his hair, Doc considered what had happened in the dream.

So do people around here usually wake up earlier than 5:30? :P

Draug closed his eyes and let the whispers wash over him.

With no more than a whisper, his body faded into the dark mist that now covered the scene.

Then, with what almost seemed like a sigh of regret, the mists pulled away, fading into nothingness as Sha-thoexis withdrew.

James envisioned a goblet of poison in his hands "Time to shuffle off of this mortal coil" he said, "well, bottoms up!", and he swallowed the poison.

James woke up, panting and sweating. "Well that," he declared, "Was decidedly unpleasant"

"Ben? Ben?"

She asked while knocking, then opened the door and stepped inside. He was here, in his bed and without really glancing at his room she walked over, shook his shoulder.

"Ben, wake up. It's a dream."

@Lunamor

Ben heard Shana’s voice and let it pull him back to the waking world. He woke gasping, the images of the dying children still seared into his brain. They faded away, slowly, as he focused on Shana’s face, her beautiful face. He sat up, trying to slow his breathing.

“Shana? We are awake, right?”

"We are. It's over."

She told him and then hugged him tightly. He was warm, alive, and he was here. She had been so afraid, the fear that he would leave her still lingering. But now, that he was here, that he didn't send her away it vanished. He loved her. The dream hadn't changed anything in that regard.

"It's over. We got out of it, somehow we got out."

Ben hugged Shana back, trying to keep himself from shaking. She had woken up, she hadn’t died in the dream. He hadn’t felt such pain, such sorrow as he had trapped in that nightmare. Well, for several years at least. But then a disturbing thought occurred to him, one that he immediately wished had never entered his head.

”Is this going to happen every time we fall asleep?”

Once Ben gets an answer from Shana, then Aye!

Edit: Wow, a rather boring 4700th post...

Does everyone else, though? Especially Jamie- if she goes back to her dream instead of waking up, she's going to Fall...

I think we need one more scene. Sha-thoexis is going to come back every night for the next few weeks, and the characters need to talk about how to deal with that.

"I don't know."

She shook her head, rested her forehead on his shoulder.

"Can I stay with you for a while?"

She asked shyly, not letting go of him.

Jet lag. Even if she does get up later, she'd still be on East Coast time.

I wonder if Connection eliminates jet lag?

“Of course.”

Ben was glad that Shana wanted to stay. He didn’t want to be alone, not after that dream.
