Althea realized Wes had stepped away and gestured for him to come over again. He needed to know what was talked about, he would be the one to present and to arguee whatever was decided in front of the other representatives. A part of her wished Lusk was here, she wasn't sure if the boy had the stomach for what was about to happen. But then maybe he surprised her.

Wes was standing away when the Righthand gestured him back, and he rubbed his forehead again to try and get rid of his headache. This was stressful.

He stepped forwards and wrapped his black underling cloak over himself again, looking up to the Righthand and the Jackal. They didn’t tower over him, but he still had to tilt his head up to see them eye to eye, if only slightly upwards.

“Sorry, Ms. — Mrs. Righthand, I forgot to ask permission. Do I have permission to leave?” He looked up at her, with her dark sunglasses and stern face. Definitely scary.

***

Lusk entered through the double doors and sat down at a spectator’s seat, his business with the Atium Ferring over. Now, it was time to do his representative responsibilities, though it seemed to be handled well enough by the boy, Wesley Miller. Lusk smiled.

Just gonna point out that several people specifically called out concerns about letting the Jackal collude with the GBs, if they try and sneak off for a private conversation that no one can overhear then there's going to be heavy suspicion at the least if not just an outright assumption that they're colluding and a subsequent ignoring of all actual testimony and presumption of guilt.

Kestraal grunted as Wes left. He dismissed the Aon listening device he placed on him. Wes seemed to be a good enough kid, he'd do the right thing.

Lusk, on the other hand... He was different. His closest ally is himself. Kestraal didn't trust Lusk at all. He respected the ghostblood, a good enough fighter, not a good enough man.

Kestraal heard a footstep. He burned bendalloy and whirled around, finding a man facing him with a knife in his hand. The man was wearing all greys. Mottled in a way where his figure was disguised with the walls if seen from afar. He had a panther tattoo adorn his right eye. He held himself confidently. The man was a professional.

Kestraal dropped the bubble and acted like he hadn't seen the man. His fingers lit up and he ducked the swipe that would have sliced the back of his head open. Kicking the man and throwing him from the canton stand into the central area. He hit the ground on his back with a thud. Groaning as he lay there.

"Sorry for the interruption folks. Just an assassin sent by a gang who doesn't like us canton members too much." Kestraal jumped down and dragged the would-be assassin over to the precoursers.

"Take good care of him for me" He told them

Keleth watched as the Jackal entered a private conversation with the boy and Althea.  Great.  Now everyone in the building would think that they were colluding.

He sighed.  Now he would have to hold the wolves at bay, so to speak, while the Ghostblood reps weakened his case with every passing moment.

"I wasn't present for the Seven Day War," he started out, "But I was present for the rise of Solace.  I will say, that the Ghostblood leaders stood against the violence and destruction that that man thought to unleash.  Even going so far as to sacrifice the citizens of Oasis City to stand against him.  After all of that, do you think they would turn around and do the very thing that they thought to stop?  I tell you, this was an isolated incident.  The Jackal is a known criminal.  In speaking privately with the Ghostblood representatives, he reveals his anxiety.  He does not want to pay for this attack.  His nerves reveal his guilt."  He sat back down.

In my head canon they were standing somewhere in the room. Whoever wants to listen in can do it, you all have the means to do so.

And apart from that, it's not unusual to have a more or less private conversation during a discussion. Usually you can formally request one, and it's really atypical to not grant it. (Sry, I don't know the specific terminology right now) Yes, that's a criminal here, it will look suspicious, and all that, but if I understood it right, this is still a discussion of the gov, not a formal trial.

I don't know if Darth and Itiah have a pm, but if they do I'm not part of it.

Althea looked at Wes.

"You'll stay until either Lusk or my assistant arrive. If that's the case, brief them and then you can leave."

She told him without looking away.

Darth and I don’t have a PM. But yeah, agreed with Sorana. It’s a discussion.

Wes averted his eyes to his feet and nodded. “Yes, Righthand.”

“What perfect timing!” An arrogant voice exclaimed, and Lusk walked beside Wes, leaning on his cane.

He nodded to Althea and looked to Wes. “Hello, Wesley,” he said. Wes gulped. Mr. Uwik wasn’t scary like the others, but he didn’t seem very nice.

“Hi, Mr. Uwik. I’m Wes, though you can call me Wes. There was an attack on a church which people are blaming on the Ghostbloods and the Jackal wants to talk with us. His job done, he moved to leave but a hand came to his shoulder.

“Hey, now, you’ve been doing such a great job here, Wesley, I think it would be criminal to let you leave like this. Please, sit down.” Wes knew it was an order and internally groaned, sitting down. “You and I are going to make a great team,” Lusk said with a smile.

So which guild is Keleth representing or part of? Because I thought he was part of the Diagramists, which makes me wonder why he's so adamant about defending the GBs. I'm not saying he can't, but I'm wondering what the reason is. Especially since he's gone to the point of submitting false evidence, specifically, that recording (note that while the recording might work IC, though it would be dubious, OOC we already know the GBs did it, since Sorana admitted it, meaning that it has to be false).

Althea thought about his words for a while. The waiter. Well, he was no GB, that part she knew.

"What was your role in the attack?"

She inquired. Facts first, promises second.

"I was hired by The Waiter, who Wes confirmed is Syndicate Omega, and also, Wes is now part of my information ring for the duration of the day, to lead a large group of ninjas into the bac portion of the church, and attack them from the rear. I just want to get out of this, as I was payed in advance. So, I convince them you are innocent, I get out of this, alive, with my mask on, and not in Precursor, or any government custody. Deal?" Jackal said.

Well you know, the interesting part is, that Ark used a non-GB NPC to lead the attack. Which I can't really understand, nor do I have an explanation for it, but it makes the whole situation a lot more complicated, if you look at it from a pure IC pov. So the recording may be wrong or not, fact is IC our army was in the hands of a non-GB, who was OOC rped by a council member. That one is confusing...

"Are you informed what's going on?"

She asked and then looked at the Jackal.

"You know that I can't guarantee this."

She said neutrally.

"I appreciate your offer, but the decision what will to you is the governments, and while we can't dictate it's decision. If you were paid, you're a mercenary, so I would be willing to offer support, but no guarantee."

“Yes, this little kid explained it to me.”

Wes started. “I - I am not a little —” but upon realising Lusk was a Council Member he shut up promptly.

Lusk made a mental note of punishing the underling, perhaps he’d introduce him to some of the new Abominations he’d been working on. The Bone-Rex, the improved Snope perhaps? Lusk smiled.

Jackal walked out of view of the rest of the assembly turned on a hyper sonic emitter that would ring into the ears of anyone trying to listen in, causing extreme pain

So I think that's a no to both.

Uhm yeah. That's a no to both points. Sorry, the moment Wes gestured to Althea, it was in the same room for me.

"I guess you will take over? I'm only here as Zokora told me the Underling was on his own."

She looked at Lusk for a moment, tried to guess what he was thinking.

"It's a mess."

She added quietly.

"The least we did was loose control of our army, plus everything else that gets uncovered. The responsibility for this lies with us, one way or the other. A whole army, Lusk. Do you need some support?"

Max told her Devaan was home and she silently replied.

I invited him over for dinner. Before I learned of this mess. I'll try to come as soon as possible.

Lusk thought about it. It was a mess. How the hell did a major storming, rusting, heck, even scudding Great Guild get put in this situation. And from the way things seemed, the hole they’d dig themselves in was only getting deeper.

“When have I ever needed support,” he said absentmindedly. His usual arrogant demeanour was slipping to something more reminiscent of his age.

“I can handle this, if you want. Me and the kid. Unless you would prefer to say something.”

I'm an ally to the Ghostbloods.  I must admit, I thought having a great guild to back me up would be beneficial.

I'm bailing out if things go bad for GB's though.  Not pulling down my guild too.

"You lead GB. I would have to be stupid to believe that you can't do whatever you want," Jackal responded.

“She’s the Righthand, kid,” Lusk interjected, stepping forward. Wes trailed behind with wide eyes.

“She’s not the leader. And we specifically have a Council for issues like this. Having one person with ultimate authority would be more of a dictatorship more than an organisation. You realise we’d have to put your condition amongst us. We don’t snap our fingers and create things out of nowhere. So, take out word for what it is. No guarantees.”

Wes could only barely nod. He began tapping bendalloy again. He always ate when he was nervous.

Althea nodded. Lusk's words were more direct than those she would have chosen, but that didn't mean they were wrong.

"It's not us throwing you in prison. It's the government. And we don't control that one."

She smiled coldly at him.

"Which you should know. So the question is more, what do you really want."

Stepping back she nodded at Lusk.

"You are the representing us, not me. It is fitting that you take over. I will address the other representatives though, afterwards they are yours as well."

Looking at the Jackal she added.

"He has the same authority than me to strike a bargain, even more so given the place and the time. So don't worry about that."

=========================

Althea straightened her cloths, nade sure her hair was falling smoothly over her shoulders. She walked back to the main chamber, looked at those attending this meeting. Lighter greys mixed with darker greys, their faces looked like taken from a black and white painting. She knew it was her sunglases, her world usually looked grey and not colourful, but here, right now, she felt like it would have been easier without them. She took a deep breath and stepped forward, into the open space. She vividly remembered how it had felt to be about ten years younger, to be her powerhungry self again, proud with almost no line she would cross. Lusk had brought her back, if only for a few minutes and she made sure to keep her face impassive, when she looked around and up at those attending the meeting. She had come a long way since then, taking steps into a direction she'd never expected.

"I suspect most of you know who I am, but still. My name is Althea Tenira and I am the Righthand of the Ghostbloods, acting leader as long as our leader is absent."

She started, careful to keep her voice even, her face betraying nothing of what she felt right now. Emotions were dangerous, they were always used against you.

"I am here, because of the current situation. The army that attacked the church was ours, as are the those you currently hold prisoner."

Another breath, give them time to think about your words.

"I can't answer the question how the army ended up under command of the Waiter, although I would like to stress, that he is no member of our organization."

"Regarding your prisoners. I will gladly order them to cooperate with you. It is almost as important for us to find out what happened than it is for you. In general we will cooperate with you in that matter."

Another breath, stay in control.

"Apart from that, if you have any questions, I will answer them, as long as I am able to keep my oaths. Otherwise, Lusk will stay here until that matter is solved, you can always direct your questions at him."

Kestraal, now back in the canton assigned area let out a sigh.

"What happened to the Waiter in charge of the army?" He asked the rest of the representatives.

"If he's prisoner I would like to assist in interrogating him. If he died in the fight, I would be grateful if I could see the body. The canton has an epic with a rather unnatural power to create a replica of someone's consciousness from their corpse. We might be able to have a brief conversation with the Waiter in question"

“How old does the corpse have to be?” Lusk asked, stepping forward as the Righthand finished.

Wes looked to the Jackal. “Um... do you sign autographs?” He whispered.

"The age isn't relevant, anywhere within a decade or so. It's the condition of the body that matters." Kestraal replied.

So, I don't have much time, but I have to say this.

Someone said they were bringing in an oath rod. That doesn't work. The oath rod only affects channelers.

Aes Sedai didn't need to follow oaths when they lost their powers.
