Nekorb traveled from the future to prevent something bad happening. The other could depend on whether or not we have more time jumps moving forwards; he returns home at the end of his arc, and he's already been away for twelve years. I'm reluctant to add another large chunk of time from any more time jumps to that, so time travel.

The idea behind it is to coordinate it with the posts in the thread. So you can't change what has already been posted, but you can make a character that at some point in the theoretical future traveled back in time to say, prevent a catastrophe. Because that causes the timeline to be changed, you can't get any paradoxes.

But why do we need people to go back in time physically for the story to work? Why can't someone have had a vision of the future and be trying to prevent it? It introduces so many headaches, inconsistencies, retcons and handwavings that just saying 'I want time travel so that I can say that my character time travelled' is really not enough for me to be able to support it's inclusion.

Yeah I understand the principle, but there's literally no in-world reason that anyone would abide by that restriction, so if say Voidus escapes the barrier, learns about a time machine and really wants his rock back again, why in the world wouldn't he do that? Sure I as a writer would have agreed to not do that but if that's his primary motivation how can I possibly not let him do that? Why would no one in the world try to change the past, only the future? Why wouldn't someone try to stop Adonalsium from Shattering? Why wouldn't someone go back and kill TLR before he Ascended? Why wouldn't someone warn Aona and Skai about Odium?
That would require so much suspension of disbelief and handwaving that I legitimately am not sure I could comfortably participate in the RP anymore. Completely immersion breaking, and again there's still no actual benefit from it that I can see other than having it for the sake of having it.

Sorry that this got a little extreme but I am honestly confused as to why anyone would want this.

I understand. Sometimes I have difficulty suspending disbelief as well, especially on some of the weirder parts. This can probably be avoided in most cases. I personally go with random jitter in extended chronological dimensions and spontaneous creation as fits the circumstances to explain this specific paradox.

Because he physically can't. These restrictions are meant to be physical laws, after all.

It opens up more potential ideas, which is always a good thing if it doesn't create problems. For instance, time travel featured in a useful manner (storytelling-wise) in the cases of both Nogard and Nekorb. In this case, you have expressed concern, and so I am trying to iron out the wrinkles of this particular idea.

I think that there should be limits on time travel for sure. I don't think that it should be used in any excessive manner. But I do think that it is a plot device that could, potentially, be useful.

Ok, either time travel to the past is possible or it's impossible. You can't have it both ways. Anyone traveling from the future to the present is traveling to the past. And at the point in time that they do jump into the present the NOW clock is no longer there and so they are moving to the past relative to it.
If we need to we can go through an example here but I hope this is clear.

Time travel in itself only opens up the possibility of time travel existing, any story that results from that could originate from something else just as easily. Especially if we want to limit it to a single timeline and no ability to change the past, that severely limits anything that is unique to time travel.

Some people might think it's a cool backstory element, personally I don't find it particularly interesting but some do, but if that's all the justification for keeping it I don't think it's worth it. It's just flavour.

I think at this point we probably need to put the time travel elements to a vote, or if people want to trust the mods to do it we can come to a decision. (Although now that I think about it, knowing whether or not people want to leave it to the mods would in itself probably need a vote so may aswell just vote)

'Mean nothing. Do you see this guy, Solace, he could have crumpled you up like a tin can. You are only alive because he let you. You cannot press that advantage. Only I can. Give up,'
