I stopped doing NaNo in 2017 because it wasn't really working for me anymore, but it's a powerful tool to get you moving, a powerful tool for building the writing habit. I still use it as a motivation to me today. Pretty much the first thing I think about every day is writing. (I don't get to show these off much, humour me, will you? :rolleyes:)

And you stopping has nothing to do with the fact you ran out of space on that wall.

I can see why it has lost its appeal for you.

Yeah. I totally formed the writing habit, but I got to a point where I felt is was just writing for the sake of getting words down, and I could do better first drafts but writing 500 decent words a day, than 1,667 at a canter. The good thing is of course, that sometimes when you sit down to write 500 words, you write 2,000. Okay, sometimes you only write 150, but as long as you open the document every day and write a sentence, you are making progress.

:lol: I've got more walls, but they're kinda occupied...

@Robinski

Thanks!

That is awesome, you are a real Nano veteran!

This will be my second year. I capped out at 30,000 words last year, and so I'm hoping for my first win this year.

I think Nanowromo was exactly what I needed last year to go from plot bunny farming to having something finnished. Or at least drafted.

Editing.... is going to take me some more practice.  :-)

Btw, I'm betting movie night at your house is epic!

That's good. It always helped me that I am suuuuuper competitive in basically everyithing, especially with myself.

Yeah. I mean, similar approach could be used. One of those years, I re-wrote the novel I wrote in a previous year.

Ach, most of the time now we are streaming, but at the weekend our local internet gets slow/crashy and we wheel out the DVDs. Presently, we are streaming BBC's Spooks (10 seasons, available on iPlayer), and topping off the evening by re-watching Frasier on DVD, interspersed with a rewatch of Magnum: PI (also DVD).

(Sorry, @Silk, I know this is Lounge fodder. My bad :unsure:.)

I would like a slot for Monday, November 2nd please. At this point, I'll submitting whatever I have for this next chapter, even if it is complete garbage.

We generally recommend reading and critiquing for a week or two first to get the feeling for how things work around here. That said, it looks to be a pretty quiet week this week. I'd suggest spending some time looking at some of the other threads on here to make sure it's the kind of commentary you're hoping to get. Once you've done that, if you you still know you want to submit tomorrow, you're welcome to.

@Snakenaps also good to go.

I think I'll take the slot. I've looked around and think I have a good handle on it, and the best way to learn is to do it. Also, I'm impatient and don't mind running headfirst into things (One time, literally).

Heh, so, @Silk, may I please have a slot for...today!

I was going to sub a couple (maybe) of poems, since they're in the group consciousness at the moment. Just to, you know, dooooo something. I mean, I am working away on finishing the first draft of TBB, and I thought I would run that through here, since I'd like to get a reaction from people who don't know Q (in addition to the reaction of those that do). But, that's for another week.

I mean, if you must.

Just kidding. Please do!

Although, I firmly believe that doing things is overrated... but that may just be me...

May I have a slot for Monday, November 23rd? May I please submit two chapters for 5,500 words if there is room? Otherwise, I will submit only the first chapter.

@Snakenaps Good to submit. Anybody mind if the submission is a little over at 5,500 words this week, folks?

@Aspiring Writer, before you submit again make sure you're also responding to others' subs! (I know there have only been two others for you so far.) We ask that provide a minimum of one critique to another writer on here for every chapter they submit. The group only works if everyone participates on both ends :)

Final total is 5,478 words, if that is alright.

@Silk I messed up. I'm off by a chapter. It turns out that if I want to combine the next two chapters, that equals 6,191 words. It's your call on if that is too large or not.

Great news is I didn't accidentally skip on a chapter. Whoops.

I wouldn't mind reading extra.

There have been plenty of times when you're submissions have been way under the limit, like only 3,000 or 4,000 words, so in my mind you have credit to go over a little this time. B) But it's not up to me.

I still would be subbing one chapter at a time if @Robinski hadn't gotten on my case. Now I'm trying to get us through the book by January instead of April or May or worse. Only ~12 chapters left...
