This was the impression I got from the plans and discussion I'd seen and been in:

It is a secret organization, but to almost anyone in the Alleycity, it's more of a legend, a story from myth. Not the gods or the heroes - think of something like the Seelie/Unseelie Court in Celtic mythology or aliens today - how likely would you think it is to find the fairies or the aliens? If you do decide to look into it, you are probably going to end up finding some groups of crazy people who claim to have had contact with them, with some flimsy 'proof'. There are tons of stories intertwined with 'actual' history some hundreds of years ago, but nobody believes that stuff really happened unless you are a conspiracy theorist. And I would think the Dark Alley supports that view since it allows them to do things less hindered. 

In other words, in the Stranger's [Soviet?] Alleyverse, you don't find the Dark Alley, the Dark Alley finds you.

And then there is the secret secret organization of the Stranger and Voidus and Aylitha, who even the Dark Alley think are mythological.

The month after Witrosa is Scholus,  since most of Era 4 happened on the 24th of Witrosa I guess we could say the Stranger needed ~a week to finish his work and the festival is in the first week of Scholus.

Talking about the calendar, in this timeline the TUBA reveal would probably be far less important than in the current one, definitely not enough to be the year 1 and day 1 of the calendar; it would make more sense to put the day Mac ask Voidus to seal the alleys in that place

A question for @Fatebreaker, how much of Era 4 is going to be remembered in the new timeline? Did any of it happen? Trying to get stories straight for a few of my characters.

Actually I'd like to broaden that question to all Era's. As far as I know all larger events have happened, but the DA's role in them was changed. Is that correct?

also, if all guilds have weaker roles, they probably wouldn't be as catastrophic. In addition, the Alleycity never would have been nuked, because no DA monstrosities existed.

Past events involving Voidus, the Stranger, or the DA are either forgotten or changed to remembered as monsters from the void. Dark creature that are drawn to large sources of power. This is to try to prevent the guilds from growing to large and the DA from leaving the Alleys unnecessarily. 

As far as how much of Era 4 is remembered I think most all of it, except that the atrium was stolen by the DA, rather than agreed upon, since their existence is a secret.

Certainly not. Though, your character may end up looking conspicuous because they aren't wearing one. From what I can tell, the masking/costume aspect will be commonly held, so going without any kind of disguise could mark them out more obviously than otherwise.

So regarding the "what changed in our history" question. I noticed, that we have several different head canons around regarding that topic, leading to an unruly canon and probably many discussions in E5.

Voidus and me thought it best to decide that on mod level, as the era will start in two days and we don't have the time to make a poll regarding the larger events that happened every era and allow enough time for everybody to weigh in.

Here is what we felt like should work with the E5 changes, without eliminating too much, so that rped character development of older characters can be (mostly) kept.

If you are unsure about a specific situation that is important for your character, please don't hesitate to ask!

 

E1: Guild War did happen, massive destruction of the city (also because of the demons of the Chaos Space Marines), Alleycity wasn't nuked

E2: happened as it did, minus the Phoenix attack on Oasis City

E3: happened as it did, minus the Phoenix attack on Alleycity; the combined forces of the guilds were able to defeat Plasma Core

E4: the exploration happened as it did, the atium was distributed evenly between the participating guilds

As the guilds will be less powerful, several smaller groups exist to fill the vacuum left behind. They don't need to be named, but in general more guilds exist, and the ones with PCs are simply a part of them all.

The slum is located in the north of Alleycity, a part that was heavily destroyed during E1 and E3. People there don't have a 24/7 access to electricity and running water, and they live in the ruins of the houses that used to be there. (So far it used to be in the krater left by the nuking of Alleycity in E1)

Honestly we wouldn’t even need to name new ones, we could just say that in this timeline ones like the Liebrary and Canton of Combat and Diagramists et cetera (I’m not saying them all cause there are a bunch) from the earlier eras never went inactive or partially inactive and just stayed strong. The worldbuilding is already in place for it.

How about the actual government? Given the lower power of the guilds, does the city itself have a goverment and law enforcement (and maybe an army)? It would help explain how the guilds beat certain things with reduced power, and it makes sense that with the reduced guild influence an actually effective goverment can form.

As an aside, if we do have a proper government, I suggest not having players participate in it, given the mess the Era 3 government was.

I agree. An actual government, might be beneficial, given the changed power structure, and yes, if we agree on that, and them having military ressources of some kind, then it definitely should be out of every players hands. It really didn't work last time and I also would prefer to avoid giving some characters more ic "power" than others solely because of their profession. I fear that it would lead more to conflicts, than to actual interesting rp.

What does everybody else thinks?
