  1. They mainly get rid of NPCs, because over several years without very much law enforcement, crime would be festering. Also, I will not let this guild be completely eradicated.
  2. The laws of whatever governing body they are nearest to, and if they are really far away from a governing body, the judgement of the town. If there is no town, we default to Alleycity law.

Voidus will (and should) be released at some point. How that happens is up for debate.

Alum has somewhat of an attachment to WoD at this point (unless the barrier decides to let him go free) and now that IRL has substantially cleared up I can try to help it to start again. Even if it works as a sort of subplot. (A subplot about freeing the most powerful being in the RP, yes, but a subplot nonetheless.)

The problem with WoD as a main plot, though, is that it might be difficult for people to get involved if they don’t have a reason to pick a side. I could brainstorm some ideas to make it more significant - perhaps Alum could go rogue and try to free just Voidus (just retcon my time in absentia as time when Alum was studying the barrier), which the Liebrarians could fight against and other guilds could therefore get involved. But, again, I think it would work well alongside a second main plot.

What was the ultimate decision regarding the Precursors? One has to be made.

Sci-Fi is out, but they still exist as a guild. They still do exist because they have members, and therefore are a guild. Also, they are a law enforcement and peacekeeping guild.

Well, I think that WH40K is still in. By the way, if the poll swings back in my favor, and I do know of 1 person who will probably vote in my direction (Grey knight) I will change them back.

But what is crime? Is your interpretation based on real world laws? Or the word of our mayor, TFA? Or an arbitrary decision on a case by case basis? There is no Alleycity law, or concensus on what governing bodies are recognized. And what if the law conflicts with your morals? If the governing body of the DA required all within their borders to be spiked, would you help them do it?

You're welcome to RP a character enforcing their code of conduct. That's no different from, for example, me fighting the SDW to stop Chaos Marines from attacking people. But be prepared to have people question their authority, because they're enforcing rules that people haven't agreed to abide by.

How would you feel if Kidpen created an army of 10000 liebrarians and went around forcing people to read books? Stopping people mid quest, overwhelming them with an unbeatable army of liebrarians (both in numbers and weaponry), and threatening to kill them if they didn't read a book. Now what if everyone made an army to impose their will on others. They could excuse it by saying it was for the greater good (reading is good!) but it would still be OP.

Will the Precursors ever impose their will on player characters? And how can you justify having an army?

I need these concerns to be addressed before I can support this idea. I think you have a fun idea, and it makes sense in your head, but to ensure fairness, I need explicit guarantees and explanations to alleviate my fears about what could go wrong.

Say, Archer, that's not a bad idea you got there. ;)

Oh... is that... bad? Dang. You really need to warn us before you close off a potential plot point we may have hypothetically been trying to do.

I mean, Kidpen, I don't see anything wrong with it. I think it's a mighty fine idea.

I mean, I would never have thought of it if Archer hadn't brought it up!

YAAAAAAY ARCHER!!!!!!

Yes, it's a fabulous idea. The Liebrary should spend lots and lots of time promoting reading. So much time that they forget to free Voidus. Go books!

We will only impose our will upon players with the owner of that player wants it as a specific plot point, or whichever guild or person, rules the city they are in, says that they broke the law. This is mainly for Murder, Grand larceny, piracy, stealing from Alleyzone, extortion, or just basic stuff that requires attention. For incentive, if Ark doesn't want us after Hellbent for slavery, we will only go after him if he breaks a law in a specific city, like The City of Oasis, because even though we do go after NPCs who do that, if he doesn't want us involved we aren't involved.

I would think that is hilarious and would defend him/her against anyone who is telling him he can't do that.

They aren't unbeatable. They are very much beatable. If you take into account the fact that they are trying to govern an entire planet it doesn't seem that big anymore, does it. I mean, does it?

How strong will they be? Cause at the moment it gives me the impression they'll become a group of redshirts for villains and antiheroes to beat up.

You mean the mess we left behind? :P

No, but honestly Oasis City is governed by the GB's with their rules.

But apart from that, that's what I think I get what you're aiming at:

If you need some kind of "good guys" to oppose a plot they could jump in

Yes, and now we have the whole, 'one the run' plot line for criminal characters.

They will be mid level. Think, storm troopers not hindered by plot armor. They also have special forces mistings, and ferrings, and higher ups of mistborns, feurchemists, radiants, and mid level epics. I only have 2 of those per regiment though. I will get the actual regiment composition soon.

The idea was discussed previously that we should have summaries of all the main threads once every page or so. Did anyone want to volunteer for doing this for any particular threads? I'll start doing some summaries for threads that I watch a bit more actively but there are some like the Forge and the Other Side of the World that don't involve any of my characters, and while I try to keep up to date on them still I'm a bit behind with some threads.

I can help.

Apart from the other side of the world and the forge, are there any other threads you are behind with? I could take over both of them.

And do we make a seperate thread for the summaries, or did we decide against that?

Posted

I think a separate thread might be easiest for now, if it doesn't seem to work we can try something else. Once we've got some volunteers for various pages I'll get a thread up and then we can start posting summaries.

So far we have:

Other side of the world: @Ookla the Clueless / maybe @Ookla the Dragon Reborn
The Forge: @Ookla the Clueless / Maybe @Darth Ookla
WoD: @Ookla the Lurker
Alley: @Ookla the Lurker
The Great Game: Possibly unnecessary / @Ookla the Lurker
CoC: Don't think these necessarily need summaries
Investiture for a Better Life Foundation: ? / @Ookla the Lurker
Einladung Hospital: ?
Mountain of the Gods: @Ookla the Lurker
Metamorphosis: Rise of villainy: ?
City of Oasis: ? / @Ookla the Lurker

These are all the main pages that are relatively recent, if we need summaries of other pages let me know, I've excluded guild pages because they're mostly out of character stuff. I've marked all the ones that I could already probably do a summary on, the blanks are ones that I'd have to read again to be able to summarize and might be easier for other people to summarize.
If anyone wants to stick their hand up for something specific let me know.

I can do metamorphosis and the foundation thread as well. Those I know by heart from rereading Mraize's posts.

Edit: Oasis, too of course.

@Ookla the Lurker

Regarding the forge/ other side of the world: just read in the pm, that already someone volunteered. You can do that of course, if you want to.  @Ookla the Dragon Reborn@Darth Ookla

I'll take Oasis and Mountain of the Gods.

And other side of the world.
