"That phoenix is a problem. But so are the hundreds of other beasts running around," Mace called to Kane. To illustrate his point, Mace kicked a chimney, sending the bricks raining down on a Kolossal standing on the street below. "Most of them are concentrated around that skyscraper. That makes them vulnerable to large scale attacks. Fire, flooding, anti-gravity and the like."

Mace unhooked his broken breastplate and threw it frisbee-style at a Dread that had been climbing onto a nearby rooftop. It clanged into it, sending it falling. Mace then drew on some stored mental speed. "Based on their dispersal pattern, the source of most of these creatures was over there." He pointed in the general direction of the Cages. "That's where they need to return to. If we can bait them in that direction, or scare them that way, we might be able to re-trap them." His brows furrowed in concentration. "I don't know if I'll live to see that happen. There's not much time. But long games are played one move at a time. It's about time I made my move."

Kane rose into the air, flying by Mace's side. He Lashed Mace up as well, and they flew side by side for a moment.

"I'm going to try and herd the masses into the cages, using ChayShan for strength and Amberite for protection. I also think I can scare them with the sound of gunshot."

He swooped straight at a horde, firing bullets at a few of them. A few more fled.

"Time to get down to business."

Titan realized he had no chance for survival if he stayed here. He grabbed the spike he had ripped out, reached in and pulled out another, then jumped off. His compounded healing stopped him from dying as he got hit by meteors, then again when he hit the ground. I'm sorry I couldn't do more. But I still have things to do. I can't die yet. He warped away again. He took his horde. They would wait somewhere else. They would survive.

Four spikes had been ripped out of the monstrosity, and it was not even slowing down.

“This isn’t working.” Soul cursed. He looked at the damage the Phoenix had done, how many people it killed, and made his decision.

Soul lashed himself back to the Ghostblood’s camp, walked into a supply tent and grabbed a huge brass shield and a large gold rod. The shield was packed full of stored heat. More then any other in the camp. It had enough heat to incinerate half the alleycity. The rod had a huge amount of health stored in it. Soul sliced the rod on the tip, sharpening it, and then rammed it into his chest. Blood streamed from his chest, right next to a large spike.

”Alright, do your job and keep me alive.” Soul said, addressing the spike.

Soul lashed himself back into the air at the flaming bird.

”I’m sorry I never got to the fifth oath El. And that I haven’t been the greatest Skydancer.”

”A Skydancer is different then the Skybreakers and edge dancers. Skybreakers follow the law to protect people, while edgedancers deal with healing the souls of those who are broken. You do both, you sacrifice yourself to save the freedom of others.”

Soul smiled. “I must fufill that ideal. Even though I never completed the oaths.”

Soul flew over the bird and dive bombed it’s head with his Shardblade.

“Follow me you flaming cremling.” He cursed as he flew straight up into the sky, staying right in front of the Phoenix’s face swiping at it’s beak over and over.

Good call @Inklingspren. Been away with IRL

"By now Elkanah, you should know I never do anything without a gain of some sort. Well by summoning the storm you advanced my plots tenfold. I do appreciate that and you of course." Solace said with a smile, disappearing for view.

He reappeared on the roof and burned steel shooting up into the storm renewing his pure investiture before he ran out. Once gone he could not use it again. As he fell he transported to the Ghostblood fortress, which resided in the AlleyCity. From there he proceeded to a very secret and secure place the only could be penetrated by Voidus himself.

Glowing pure white he closed his eyes. He called upon his bond with the Alleyspren, thrusting his hands outward. He hook hold of the spiritual realm with his left and the cognitive realm with his right. Investiture pored from him. He shouted adding in the surge of division, cutting the three realm he held. Not to separate them but to cut each in half as he held them. A black slit opened up in the room. He added more division and it grew wider. He stopped only when he himself could fit through. But he did not, as he knew what he created would obliterate him. He still held the realms together by an tips of his fingers. He called upon the surge of transportation seeking a large combined force once shattered by Odium. He found the shattered shards with pout much difficulty. Feeling the realms nearly slip from his grasp he called upon the combined Surges of Adhsion and Transportation to make a kind of wormhole dragging some of Dominion and Devotions power from Sel to the room Solace stood.

All of the investiture left Solace and he slumped to the ground. The black slit in the air stayed present and he felt Devotion and Dominions power present. Interestingly enough two figures formed from the power. One distinctly feminine and the other masculine.

"Lady Devotion, Lord Dominion, Mother, Father. Welcome to the Alleyverse. We are presently in a secure room beneath the Ghostblood fortress."

"you have done well son. Done well indeed Devomin." Both figures said simultaneously.

Solace lead both figures to a device on one of the walls he pulled down a microphone and spoke into it.

"All ghostbloods attack. May Lord Dominion be with you. May his power fill you."

And it did. The power of dominion overwhelmed his troops giving them dominion over those they faced, a Violet glow took place in their eyes.

Welcome back, Mraize!

As Kane boldly headed towards certain doom, Mace took a detour. He dropped to ground level, then ran to the nearest intersection. At each corner of it grew an ancient maple tree. Mace drew on some luck, then looked behind him. Luckily, an abandoned cart stood there. A quick check of the back revealed that it was loaded with several coils of rope. What can I do with rope? he thought to himself. Then an idea came to him.

Several minutes and a lot of investiture enhanced running later, Mace stopped to admire his handiwork. He'd fashioned the rope into a large net, then strung it from the four trees. It looked a bit like a spiderweb as it hung a few meters off of the ground. He jumped up to grab the middle section with his hand, then smiled as it slowly sagged to lower him to the ground again. That was fun. I hope it will be useful to someone later.

He started jogging towards the sounds of battle as, overhead, the phoenix screeched.

Random thought, Mraize, your investiture eating machine of yours may come in handy on your quest, especially if you want to get close to the worldspike.

Certain doom? I hope you're more confident in me than that...

I will go to serious measures to keep Kane alive if necessary.

Voidus sat motionless in front of the wall of energy. He drummed his fingers over his knee as he contemplated the problem at hand, watching the wall impassively.

Could destroy the barrier but then the spike's unprotected and the Guardian could get out.

The heavy thud of a very large foot hitting the ground behind him drove this point home as the Guardian continued its slow circuit around the inside of the barrier.

Could try and kill the guardian first but then the spike is really really unprotected and the universe might end.

The soft thrum of energy before him was somewhat distracting, but using any active Investiture here was not a good idea, even for him.

Could try and move the spike as well but that might still end the universe.

He continued to sit, pondering his problem, blocked off from the rest of the city on all three realms by the barrier that surrounded the area.

Bloodbath ripped out three spikes, then stabbed them all into himself.

Pulling out this many spikes is really starting to stretch belief for me, keep in mind that you're in the middle of a turbulent storm, standing on top of a giant angry bird that is moving with 20x normal speed, hurling anything that touches it away with Gravitation and is also on fire.
The first couple might have succeeded out of surprise but now with all of that going on I'm finding it hard to mentally justify all these spikes being taken.

Kane zipped and landed beside Mace.

"I have a plan to reach victory. Do you want to try?"

Kane explained the plan to Mace.

"This storm restores my Aether quickly and efficiently. And I have a theory. If I were to split the Aether and give half to you, they would quickly return to full power. You could Nicroburst me while using Duralumin yourself and we could form a massive Amberite weapon. Then, you could Compound pewter so that you would be able to hold it, and I would combine ChayShan with the strength of my Shardarm to lift it. We... could maybe have a chance."

I'm finding it hard to mentally justify the fact that you don't have an explanation for a demonic four armed fireproof... thing being unable to rip out some spikes. I'll make it three, though.

Titan needed to help. He would make the numbers of the evil abominations shrink. He knew they weren't his, they were safe far away. He yelled luring them to him. He summoned six shardaxes and started swinging. He took life after life, only stopping from time to time to grab spikes. Lots of spikes. Once he was entirely buried in bodies with burned out eyes, he jumped out, then ran into a huge stone building in the city. He realized it was the Liebrary headquarters. Sorry about this. HE released his axes as the monsters flooded in. There were hundreds upon hundreds. He turned the floor to dust, creating a huge pit. As he fell he warped himself outside, and melted the top of the building partially, leaving it melted on top of them. They would die soon. He created a huge alleywarp, straining his powers to there limits, and teleported the entire building away to an area near the caves his horde was hiding in. He cut a small hole, and filled it with highly poisonous gas. Then he took another. Then another. When all three had been in there for about ten minutes, he lit a spark. There was a boom. They were definitely dead. That should help a bit. He told his horde to search them for spikes and store them in blood taken from the monsters. He also put all the spikes they had found so far in a huge glass jar full of demon blood. They would use them when this was done.

Where'd those powers even come from? You can't just through in whatever powers you want.

Because that demonic four armed fireproof thing has no idea where the spikes are, has no means of even approaching the Phoenix since it's flying, would be flung off the second it touched the phoenix, would need to dodge the hundreds of flaming boulders that are getting flung around, would need to successfully navigate through the giant storm and would get dodged or eviscerated as soon as it approached since it would look like it's moving in slow motion.

Again, this was not designed to be a fair fight or something that could be killed, this is a giant boss monster that is pretty much invincible. Anyone who wants to attack it should go into that confrontation with the awareness that they are very unlikely to survive and extremely unlikely to actually kill it.

Even then, it has 10 times the ability to heal that an average gold compounder has as well as Stormlight/Voidlight healing, a battle between it and anything stronger is likely going to be either a stalemate or an apocalyptic event that kills everyone else present.

"Storm. the hemalurgic outbreak needs to be stopped. Would you be willing to make a peace agreement with he black crusade?" Devaan asked, placing a paper in front of Storm

"Sign this and leave it at my canton" Devaan took off down the street and found Solace, surrounded by troops who's eye's glowed purple.

"Solace. Rashan is down. There's been an outbreak and this strange thing known as the Chaos is here. We need to stop pissing off the DA when they have the ability to send in things like that" Devaan pointed at the phoenix who was currently lashing a building into the air.

"The Crusade has agreed to withdraw if we focus our efforts on the common enemy. So please. I ask you to focus your power towards the Chaos and the hemalurgic monsters"

A stranger attacked him with a steel knife that was picked up from the ground. It dug into his back, next to his left shoulder. Devaan spun, tapping speed so he could kick the stranger's heels. Drawing Sethramir, he stabbed the stranger in the chest. Killing it.

"Things like that are roaming around the city, murdering innocents. We need the help of the ghostbloods. Abandon this hopeless assault, and instead to something noble. Please"

"What are they doing?" Wereci asked Tena, quite honestly confused by the burning and broken AlleyCity below. He was floating four or five hundred feet in the air (not using any of that nonsensical 'Investiture' that was common in this plane of existence). He'd gotten in by utterly obliterating the sixth wall, which had been a small, though fun, test of his power.

"Well, they're fighting over this huge city, but mostly the Worldspike, I think," Tena answered. "I haven't been around for a while, so I have an only slightly better idea than you do." She saw people scrabbling about below and wondered what all the fuss was. She pointed at one guy in particular. "His name used to be Jacob, but now it's Bloodbath. Traitorous one, he is." She paused, then added, "Y'know, the creator of your plane occasionally visits here and makes me do stuff. I'ma go get orders from Mace. Zehr!"

A red-haired dude magically appeared. "What?"

"Take Wer back onto your plane."

"Okay."

Wereci and Zehr disappeared, and Tena dropped down to Mace.

Mace has gotten annoyingly OP. But I'm waiting until my thousandth post to kill him off, so what's one more investiture? Good plan BB. I hope you don't mind the godmod. Since we're both holding the same weapon, you have permission to godmod Mace's actions as much as you need to.

Mace nodded in agreement. "It's a good plan, I like it. This won't-" He suddenly drew his knife, and smashed the hilt down on Kane's hand. The amberite cracked, but Mace was quick to grab the broken off half. As he placed it in his palm, he continued talking to his surprised friend.

"Sorry about that. It's better if it's done quickly. In order to wield the weapon, we'll have to be close to each other. What do you say we make a tandem battle suit? Just give me a minute to practice." Mace reached into his pocket for some bendalloy, but found that he was out of it. But a quick check of his palm indicated that we wouldn't need it. The bud had already bonded. As an experiment, he tried creating a amberite spike, and was pleased to find that he could. He got to work practicing, creating progressively larger spikes and clubs.

Quote

My suggestion would be that you make a large battle suit with an open back and top so I can piggyback you. I ride on your shoulders so you can work the legs (you're the more experienced amberite user after all), but we can both get our hands on the hilt of the weapon.

Coordinating our swings will be difficult, so it would be best to stick to a simple left-right-left sweep, with you calling out the targets and movements.

As Mace practiced, Tena dropped in. "I'm glad to see that you're still alive! I was worried about you," Mace said. When Tena requested orders he took a moment to think.

"The Canton mustn't fall, but it's protected. The TUBA building is useless now. No sense going there. I think the best place to be right now is by the skyscraper the phoenix is circling," he pointed it out. "A large amount of monsters were attracted to there. We're trying to push them back into the dungeons from whence they came. Either that, or you could check on the others. I don't know the status of the Ghostblood camp, it may have been overrun by now. And I lost track of Storm, Devaan, and the others. I think they might be together still, but I don't know where they are. They were planning something though. Not sure what it was, but it seemed important. And if you see Yzabet or anyone else from TUBA... I don't know where they are. They may all be dead. And my honour guard is most certainly dead by now." He trailed off, focussing on his practice. After a moment, he turned back to look at Tena. "We're headed where the monsters are. You can join us if you like. Either way, I appreciate you stopping by. It's good to know that at least one person has survived."

A few minutes later, Ida was breathing in familiar scents. Scents that reminder her of... No. She would not think about her past. Finally, reaching atop of a hill, she looked out upon the battle field. Something deep within her trembled. Ida pushed it aside and slid down. "Death comes." Stephen whispered. It was time to kill.
