They were still there though, and surrounded him. They sent the same impressions as before— pebble, leaf, and bud— but considerably softer.

He yelped and jumped to his feet.

Get away from me!

. . . Yes. Hacob killed him.

Rebus has an idea, and teleports a copy of himself into the orbiting train. “Bacon the Bard, Bacon the Bard, Bacon the Bard.”

Bacon was somehow already there.

"Hello," he said. "Er... is this the same train Trellin is on?"

2 hours ago, Ookla the Inquisitive said:

At the same time, the Rebus down on the planet continues talking. “So you mean some people here will be fine with pranks in some ways but not in others? Any examples?”

"I'd be careful about pranking Narrators! They might prank you back."

He looked up. “Oh, I’m not upset. I’m used to it.”

"Well, I have good news for you. The only reason that Beosta and Shoe don't like you is because you did a mean thing to them!"

2 hours ago, Ookla the nostealnamepls said:

"Yeah, lets." Moni started walking northwest. "Better get going. The quicker we're there, the less time Faceless have to get curious."

"You convinced him not to plead guilty? Impressive." ... held up a document and handed it to Selppaenip. "What do you make of this? It's from Platypus's testimony. It records an encounter between him and a wizard that pretended to be Omen, trying to kill anyone who sought the Dreamsmith."

Selppaenip hesitated. "I think he still wants to plead guilty, but..." He paused, inspecting the document. "Oh my! How terrible! I do hope he was soundly defeated?"

2 hours ago, Ookla the nostealnamepls said:

"Oh." The traveler morosely pulls out her map again. Then her face brightens and she flips the map around. "Say I decide that I don't want to visit Onyx. Could you correct this map for me? So that I can find my way to the other place in Onyx's realm that I want to go of course."

The guide considered the map. I believe it is simply not to scale. The landmarks depicted are in the correct locations relative to each other, if not the correct distance.

2 hours ago, Ookla the Irreplaceable said:

"Yes..." said Trellin, summoning a notebook. "And how do Narrators come to be? Is it luck that one becomes a Narrator, or something else entirely?"

Perseus pulled out a sword, and began walking behind Moni. They walked through massive trees that seemed to be made of stone. There were very few living things, only occasionally bugs, or rodents. Then a massive beast, a wolf with bloody red fur, leapt from behind a tree, maw opened.

Bacon laughed. "I have no idea! It's Onyx that has Lore."

The Scribe sent a box of chocolates to Bat. @oOklA thE shInyYyy

The note read as such: Hello, Bacon! I am currently being rudely confronted by one Tam, but I must tell you the origin of that name! Do you remember Madness, one of my personal favorite creations? Well, Intellect made a blade to match against Madness’ fake plot blade. And so, I call it my Notblade, because it is not a plotblade! And, well, it doesn’t really have any substance except illusion, so it’s not even a blade.

“The Scribe, at your service!”

”I am Sain, proud last bastion of the fighting and magical tradition of the Hasrathans! This armor is made of the Strands, an impenetrable, powerful material.” He raised a hand, and a single golden Strand rose from it, waving around in an approximation of a hello.

[Wait wait wait… if you use an explosion… Pyk and Dint will be affected as well!]
Wriulin narrowed his eyes, and asked in a ragid voice. “What… are you even alive?

This is asked because he knows where that ability might, theoretically, come from. He’s a scientist.

"Huh," said Bacon. "Okay then."

to clarify, none of them actually saw Hacob kill Hidel. He was invisible, and so was his Narrationblade. Unintelligible knows because he has Ookla powers

Why would Hacob kill someone in plain view?

yeah, but he's also a Narrator and could easily have left. Also, I don't think any of them have ever seen Hacob's Narrationblade in a form other than a longsword, and wouldn't know it could be a dagger.

so it makes sense they'd blame him, they just don't know for sure.

Beosta came with him. “Are they malicious? Are they gonna hurt you? What do they look like?”

I can’t do this.

She started crying as she often did.

Bat was glad the bird did not seem mean.

I'm sorry.

She shook her head. “I’m… I’m sorry. This is dumb. I- I don’t care about him. I don’t care.”

“If you don’t pack my eyes out, we can be friends,” he said, gently touching the bird’s head. “And I’ll protect you.”

Maybe not :P

A worried look flashed across her face for an instant, but she quickly replaced it with a smile.

"Nothing," she laughed softly. "One of the other Narrators has been having an existential crisis, and . . . it's hard to not think about it. Don't worry about that right now."

She took a deep, shuddering breath and hugged him tighter. “So he just… just died?”

Bat smiled, happy, and moved to the edge of the trees to check that Gaioh was still on the beach. He was.
