Asher nods “i have heard a lot about you bacon, you seem to be quite the presence”

"Thank you," said Bacon, bowing. "I make an effort."

Sorry! It's a flood:P

"Hmm. What a fascinating way of thinking about it." A notebook appeared out of nowhere, and a pen scribbled a sentence down. "And what would you say that purpose is at present?"

"Ohhh."

"To cultivate stories, I suppose! They're just so fun to watch, you see."

5 minutes ago, Sequence said:

"Yes, the Thr-" She paused again. "... The... Universe..? I suppose we don't really know. It's been three thousand years since time started to be recorded, I suppose you could say. That doesn't necessarily mean there wasn't anything before. Not that I'd know, though. I'm only 1,489 pages - or, years - old!" She laughed.

Nogard blinked. "You're how old?"

5 minutes ago, Sequence said:

Sequence leaned back a bit and laughed heartily. "Good! I'm sure. You are quite menacing."

Selppaenip sighed. "So I've been told."

5 minutes ago, Through The Living Glass said:

Subversion told me that someone was going to execute you? I mean, they didn't- he poked Nogard's arm just to be sure, -but what's that about?

"I hope not! I'm going to testify at the Great Wizard's trial."

5 minutes ago, Through The Living Glass said:

Oh yeah! Nogard, this is Tam. My sister.

"Nogard! Nice to finally meet you!" she took his hand a shook it aggressively. Nogard's hair turned purple.

My Narrator sister, Shoe chuckled.

Yeah. It's usually just easier.

"Nice to meet you, Tam!" Nogard accepted the handshake. "You're a- what?"

A short woman with a fuzzy mop of blond hair scurried up to her, looking excited. "Hi! You must be Gail- is that right? Are you Gail? It would be so awkward if I accidentally found the wrong person." She laughed nervously, then suddenly paused and gave a cordial bow and extended her hand in greeting. "I'm Fuzzy, by the way!"

Gail smiled. "Hi! I'm Gail. Which you already knew. --It's great to meet you! I've heard so much about you."

"Hmm. To watch others fulfill their purposes. No--- to help others fulfill their purposes." The book snapped shut on the pen. "That's an excellent purpose, I must say. It matches your taste in dance partners."

Sequence stared at Nogard incredulously. "... My namesake. My... uh... Mother... and Grandmother... and... lots of other people in our family line shared this name. For 1,489 years. I myself am..." She spoke slowly, struggling to think up an explanation. "Only about... 30... years old? Yeah. Yeah, 30."

It’s alright. I can hear the aggressive type in, you go so may characters and it’s prolly complicated to keep up

“So your the guy with the podcast, you also just spawn in random places” Asher’s voice was still monotone. They adjusted their mask. “What’s your role in this place? You also seem to be a very knowledgeable person.”

She nodded. "Fair points."

"Why, of course! I invited everybody! Theoretically, even the most ancient and powerful evils could attend, though I did attach something of a threat to my invitations. If you didn't notice it, it's likely because your thoughts are pure. But, for those with thoughts of war and destruction, they'll notice an extra clause. 'When I say this is a peaceful event, I mean it. Those who break the peace will be dispatched swiftly'." Sequence looked rather proud of herself. "Spooky, right? I also gave it a little bit of that d̸̨̠̼̾̂a̴̙̭̽̾ṟ̶̢̓k̵̪͆n̵̩͙͙̂ẽ̸̢̳̙̔s̶̩͊͊s̸͖̫̓̊͜ I have with on occasion."

Bookwyrm blinked.

"Whatever works, huh?"

Shoe raised an eyebrow at Sequence when Nogard wasn't looking. Subtle, he said to only her.

Ow-! Shoe cringed.

I never have either . . . but you realize that still makes your 'mother' and 'grandmother' over 500 years old, right?

He was still blocking Nogard out of the conversation.

"I'm not sure. I've never run an event like this. I'd need some time to plan, I guess. Assuming I wanted to do something more nuanced than handwaving it with Narration."

Sequence did in fact, look like a human. She had shoulder-length wavy brown hair, and slightly olive toned skin. She was also rather tall, not extremely so, but a bit above average.

You look human, yeah . . . are you not human? Average lifespan is about 80-ish years.

I’m a Narrator. And 80 years… phew, that’s short. Does that translate to pages? I’m not exactly sure how long a year is supposed to be, actually.

Perseus walked through the door. @NameIess

Perseus found himself in standing on a road lined with oak trees that led to a small house on a hill. Sunlight filtered through the trees and birdsong filled the air, giving the place a whimsical air.

"Yes, I'm okay- although I have been captured by the Brave Adventurers. I'm going to testify at the Great Wizard's trial, it would seem. How about you? Were you able to get away from the battle?"

Subversion nodded. “They all left after TP flew away. Do you think you’ll need rescuing?” She glared over Nogard’s shoulder at Tam. No breaking him!

Perseus strode confidently up the road towards the house, and opening the door. “Hello?”

The door opened into a comfy-looking living room with a coatrack hanging by the door, a TV sitting on a stand, several reclining chairs and a sofa. The lights were off, although there was a switch on the wall near the entrance, and all other doors in the room were shut. There was no answer to Perseus’s greeting.

A year is five hundred days, haven’t you read the Way of Kings? And Nogales can’t find out what Narrators are able to do! Stop changing him different colors!

"...I'd probably put in narrative safeguards. Make it physically impossible for it to happen. Of course, if another Narrator decided to infringe upon that, action would have to be taken...but everyone Narrator here - that I know of - is respectable enough not to start murdering people." He paused. "I hope."

Beosta left Livetha playing on a chandelier somewhere and moved outside, down beneath the deck among the fresh plants in the moist shade. She fluffed out her cloak, then settled to face the bay.

That man had been... scary. Incredibly scary. She still remembered what he'd said. The monks screamed as they died. I killed the old one, you know, Navis? He begged me to spare the children. Just thinking it made her want to rip into his throat.

The idea was accompanied by a wave of nausea, which she closed her eyes against. She wasn't a little kid anymore, she reminded herself. That man wasn't just a faceless bad guy. He wasn't just an entity in a game. There was a person behind him. She shouldn't want him dead. She shouldn't...

But he'd been so vile.

No. No! Stop thinking that way. Do you want it to happen again? She pushed images out of her mind. She wouldn't do that again. She wouldn't. Never.

But that's why you wanted the crossblade, she thought. Not so you wouldn't kill, but so you wouldn't have to... to actually do it. Up close, at least. So you wouldn't have to feel that weight in your hand and see the glint of the blade right in front of your face. So you wouldn't have to see those eyes snap open, then glaze over.

So you could pretend you're not a coward, her father's voice whispered.

Beosta stood to pace. It wasn't cowardly. Not wanting to kill wasn't cowardly. It was merely merciful. Hopeful, even.

Had there been any hope for that man? She pushed him out of her mind. She'd been avoiding him, to an extent. How did one apologize for murder? To the victim? She'd brought him back, yes, but that wasn't enough. In the wake of... of what she'd done, he'd lost everything. And he didn't even know it yet. His father was dead, his estate abandoned, Faothea happily married. Maybe he would have been better off unresuscitated.

She scuffed the mud with her shoe. I brought him back selfishly, she realized. I brought him back so I could feel like a good person again.

She wasn't a good person. She didn't deserve any of these people. Not Bacon, not Cricket... not even Bat.

And especially not Shoe.

So what could she do?

What I've always done. She sighed, then looked up at the sky. Stick around and hope there's something I can do for them along the way.

nobody has to respond to this if they don't want to, but I was bored and uh it happened so

The door slammed shut behind him, leaving the room in darkness. Then the darkness was broken as, with a crackling sound, the TV turned on. “State your business please.” Perseus was at the wrong angle to see what was on the screen, but the voice coming from the TV sounded stern, and carried with it a ringing echo that was faintly metallic.
