Meanwhile, the Ghanderflaffle empire was rising for the first time.

Bringing with it new ideas, like chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels.

They rose through the power of an actual kingdom. How strange.

They unconquered several kingdoms.

(By conquering them for themselves, of course)

but then, a kite knocked into the bottom of it and some (but not all) of it came crashing down.

Indeed, it was a surprising mix of serious political schemes and random cartoonish violence that eventually caused the first fall of the Ghanderflaffle empire.

The second rise of the empire was rather more obsurd than the fall of the previous.

Obsurdity was absurdity mixed with obstreperousness

Which is exactly what the creator of the word meant.
