Rebus smiled again, his forearm coming up to block the strike. It worked, too - Rebus’s armor, thin as mundane clothing, was nevertheless completely solid. as he struck solid he gritted his teeth and backed off.

And no one touches me either. 'Xept for my wife and kids, a'course." Said the High Priest of Current Events. "Philosophically, then, it all cancels out." 4 minutes ago, DragonHeir said: Jack relayed the message. “Scratch that - potatoes, fresh vegetables, and jerky would be nice.” The woman nodded, moving into the building. She emerged a few moments later, holding a few bundles. "Here y'are. That'll be seventeen cressmarks and three ilks."

Aeoryi she/her Posted February 4 Posted February 4 26 minutes ago, DragonHeir said: Desolation, if I had any idea what you wanted I would have started the conversation with that. Last I heard from you, you were claiming to somehow be capable of living beyond the Authors - something I neither believe is possible nor am likely capable of helping with.” "What do I want..." Desolation scratched his chin. "I have no need for false Narrator promises, or the powers of Narration. I already have a Plotblade that lets me see the future and protection for my people." 1 hour ago, NameIess said: "Fair enough." Malevolence said. "Perhaps I'll give you Antagonist, after ripping it from Rebus's pathetic clutches." He grinned. "Shall I be on my way?" The Guardian released his grip, his flames regathering to his face. He nodded. "I expect it to be delivered here, by page 4475." With a thunderclap, the Guardian and his Plotblade were gone in an instant. 54 minutes ago, TwinStorm said: Make it quick? I'm here because Malevolence and Rebus are willing to risk everything to get to each other. I want no conflict. I have made pledges to both of them. You, however, offer a way out. You're an Inkling." "I offer you a way out?" Desolation laughed. "It sounds like you have promises to break. You want me to break them for you, so you don't feel worse?" 50 minutes ago, TwinStorm said: My creator . . . his servants still live. If I can bring them to justice, that might draw the Authors' attention." "How are you... going to bring them justice, exactly?"

Coins spilled in all directions, but the High Priest ignored them. His eyes had begun to glow with a radiant light, and when he spoke, his voice was followed by the echo of a thousandfold holy chorus. “I proclaim unto ye’, oh foolish and self-absorbed one. No Protagonist shall arise till all awaitin’ be done, and those who fight for good get to adoin’ instead. Oh ye, most lowly of worms, ye who serve a shattered god, know this: ye shall weep tears of bitter sorrow afore the Protagonist appears, but those tears shall be naught if both fell Blades are not giv’n up!” 4 minutes ago, DragonHeir said: “A physical piece of whatever it is Desolation is composed of - ink, I suppose - would be best, but if you can be around as Desolation absorbs a significant quantity of Narration, that would suffice.” Rebus launched forwards, a pillar of utility fog propelling him into the air at slightly more sedate - and efficient - speeds. Verdance he/him Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) Inkwell recalled when he had first arrived in the Thread. That had been chaos, but one event stuck out unexplained from the others. Why had he heard Ribbon’s voice in his head? Now he had an answer. The bet between Rebus and Malevolence had Connected him to Fog and Ribbon, which seemed to be the reason he had met Fog. When Ribbon had yanked on 9/10mmHB#2 like a rubber band, it must have severed that strange link. Inkwell didn’t need a strange Connection to cause him to look for Fog and Ribbon, though. The bet was a good enough reason. They had to end that bet by any means necessary, or it would only be a matter of time before they all fell to one antagonist or the other. Now that he had the sword, there was a way to do that. “9/10mmHB#2, can you broadcast this to the entire Thread? If Fog or Ribbon is out there, we need to find them.” Spoiler Right. But when this is done? I want out. I have other priorities, and I can’t wait to take turns with your body. Its next words were heard by the entire thread. Ribbon, Fog. We need to meet. There are matters that must be discussed. @Aeoryi @Through The Living Glass Edited February 4 by edgyswordname
