"You humor me, Narrator." Desolation said, "I think you have forgotten that a deal involves two parts. What are you ready to give up?"

"You see it as a weakness." Magenta hissed like a snake. "You see it as a losing scenario."

Center growled at Magenta, silencing him. He spoke soothingly. "I respect that you wish to aid our organization in other ways. But the reluctance to make a promise is dangerous."

Green Fire flared up his arm and into his fingers, the ones holding Malevolence. They stopped just before reaching contact with Malevolence. He could be burnt out in seconds, reduced to a pile of ash.

"No. I will not kill you now." The Guardian decided. "You have proved too valuable as a fighter to eliminate now."

"But to waste this opportunity..." Magenta warned Center.

"Yes, I agree. We should capitalize on this situation." Center said. "I will not force you to become a member of the Guardians of Plot. But I will place conditions on my mercy."

Magenta's neck extended until his draconic snout was barely centimeters away from Malevolence's eyes. "Deliver us a Plotblade within the next 100 pages, or we will find you and finish what should've happened here."

"That seems fair," Center agreed, "Doesn't it, Malevolence?"

Fog grinned mischievously.

Interesting.

"A journal and writin' implements?" The woman scowled and took a step back towards the door. "You wouldn' happen to be one of those Nar-rating types, would yah? Don't serve no Nar-ratin' types here."

"Fair enough." Malevolence said. "Perhaps I'll give you Antagonist, after ripping it from Rebus's pathetic clutches." He grinned. "Shall I be on my way?"

She sighed dramatically.

Tragic.

Is Atreides a narrator?

"Of course. The remnants of the Plot, that being with a capital P, are of course, The Plotblades." The Guardian's Center said, as if it were common knowledge, "If you join us, you will become similar to myself and Magenta here, bound to a Plotblade forever to serve the Plot." His grip tightened a bit.

He's not dead, he's just sleeping!

yes

"Make it quick? I'm here because Malevolence and Rebus are willing to risk everything to get to each other. I want no conflict. I have made pledges to both of them. You, however, offer a way out. You're an Inkling."

You seem to be under the impression that I will die here. Why is that?

“Indeed. I shall deal with him later, once I have finished my current business.”

“I second Fog’s question. Which Plotblade?”

“Hello Bob.” A deep, overly confident voice spoke from  behind Bob. “Having trouble with the wind?”

Darkseeker is not exactly your average Mordite blade. It was made by the Dreamsmith with an inverted bond to Malevolence’s soul. Any Mordite blade (assuming a similar amount of Mordite made it up) could theoretically have similar power (it is a highly potent fundamental metal, after all) but normally those powers cannot  be utilized without either bonding the blade (practically guaranteeing soul corruption) or already being aligned with Chaotic darkness.

Without a bond, in the hands of an ordinary person, a Mordite blade will be a sword that can kill anyone. It will be resistant to Narration, (as in, a Narrator probably won’t be able to just vaporize it) will give unhealing wounds, and will be generally very good at destroying things.

(Long-winded explanation of why the Dreamsmith would make Darkseeker for Malevolence)

  Reveal hidden contents

Why did the Dreamsmith create Darkseeker for Malevolence? (Well, it was actually called Cowardice at first) The Dreamsmith has refused service to evil people before (Desolation is an obvious case, and Rebus he gave an invisible, undetectable weapon that basically does things that Rebus could already do) Suffice it to say, there are two reasons: First, Darkseeker will change as Malevolence changes. That’s what I meant by an inverted bond. Instead of the Blade corrupting Malevolence, he can corrupt it, so to speak. If Malevolence ever were to be redeemed, (very unlikely) the Blade would transform with him, becoming Prismite (the metal of Narrators) or even Luxite (a metal lost ever since the Witherlord destroyed the Luxsprites). The Dreamsmith hoped it would help Malevolence on the path to redemption, if he ever began that path. Second, the Dreamsmith has long held a dream, and he saw Malevolence’s coming as the opportunity to see that dream fulfilled. (No, I will not say what that dream is)

"This deal with Rebus will end disastrously. He is the Antagonist."

Rebus whistled, though there was nobody around to hear. That was a blade both beautiful and deadly, and writing both immersive and clever.

“A pact is excessive - what I desire is closer to a transaction. I’m building a collection of sorts… Antagonist is powerful. Extremely powerful. But for all that power it lacks powers - magic weapons are commonplace, and the other effects are slow and subtle.” Rebus smiled. “To this end, I wish to assemble a symbolic item from each Author - Malice is the gem I have already set within the crown, and a come to you for another. You see, Desolation, when you made the whole of the Thread tremble, it was because you were uniquely suited to it. Narrators often scoff at those who seek to fight them, but an Inkling counters their powers - protagonists are often entwined with their foes, one the fatal weakness of the other. That aspect is one you are well-suited to represent.”

“Wits is perhaps the closest of your guesses.”

Meat reached sideways and summoned Nonsense. The ocean drank - gone, itself, collapsed. Eyes - grease and jealousy, flame dancing to a shrieking tune. Bababadalgharaghtakamminarronnkonnbronntonnerronntuonnthunntrovarrhounawnskawntoohoohoordenenthurnuk! The fall of An - the whole of a town and its well.

Eh. The most I would do is start stabbing Inkwell and wait for you to return.
Mark - for that is what is was - scribbled its way out from the sketchbook’s bindings and hid within Futility’s title. It would appear to be an erroneous stroke - a t crossed twice after the first was deemed insufficient - and even if noticed it hoped Inkwell would think twice before tearing out that particular page.

Jack stepped in front of Lyric. “We would like to buy a journal and something to write with - oh, and a container of oil, for hinges and such.”
-

Omen is almost correct, but he certainly is now.

Time passed - quite a lot of it. Cricket did not steal the Lost Pages, for in fact Cricket was nowhere to be found. And then he finally returned, bringing with him the first time since Bat tortured Symbol that Rebus was truly angry.
-

The nanomachines perished in droves, some finding their target only to be incinerated before the message even entered the network. The ones within the rest of his body continued to spread, but it barely mattered - their goal seemed out of reach.

Rebus allowed the grapple, then anchored himself with nanomachines as Kyler attempted to throw him. Instead of crashing into the floor, Rebus pivoted in mid air, throwing Kyler over his shoulder and (presumably) into the ground.

Atreides sighed. "Listen. I'm debted to both of you, and . . . I want none of it."

That is how i do it to so dw, in fact in my head this plays out as an anime fight, if you have ever seen the fight between gojo and Miguel its kinda like, two op people bluring in a circle then one ultimate move.

kyler tried to dodge but couldn’t, rebus hit his shoulder and he flew into the wall on the opposite side pf the room. He coughed some blood and grinned. He stood up and popped his shoulder back into place. “How many of these ultra moves can you do huh?” He ran forward again, not as fast as before. And faked a left hook to a right uppercut.

Unfortunately for Kyler, I think Rebus is pretty clearly the Gojo equivalent in this case.
Rebus smiled again, his forearm coming up to block the strike. It worked, too - Rebus’s armor, thin as mundane clothing, was nevertheless completely solid.

“Nar ratin?” Jack blinked, before deciphering the accent and connecting it to a word he’d heard only a few times before. “No, we are just ordinary travelers, trying to find someone wise enough to know the meaning of life.” He chuckled, the slightly mechanical edge to it having nothing to do with Jack’s composition. “Wouldn’t want to walk all that way and forget it before we come back, right?”
-

Rebus considered his clutches to be rather unpathetic, but he’d welcome the attempt as more to do.

Get me an Inkling energy signature - not necessarily Desolation, but there aren’t too many others around - and you’re absolved of any need to actually defend me. You’re still my general, with the privilege and duties that implies, but this would give you leeway to do anything short of physically attacking me or giving away my empire.”
