The plot slips away from 9/10mmHB#2 as its author disappears to spend time with his family. When it returns, Malevolence is completely unaffected by the Anti-Stormlight rhythm, and Fog has collapsed into a pool on the ground.  Time slips back into regular speed, and it manages to cut a rift that diverts most of the bullets harmlessly into the sky, except two. One hits it in the right ankle, the other strikes it in the upper part of his left arm. It grits its teeth. Ribbon is here, talking to the thing that is no longer Fog. Just have to buy some time… The pen only has a little ink left. It clutches its arm and limps towards Malevolence.

curious, how does nullite work?

Nullite cancels Narration within a small field around it, as well as many other forms of magic. It’s the Essence of Ordered Darkness.

So…. It cancels Stormlight? And I wasn’t projecting Anti Stormlight, I was projecting the physical vibration that transforms isolated Stormlight into anti- light. They aren’t on Roshar, so, if I’m understanding the mechanics of Nullite correctly, Malevolences Stormlight and armor no longer functions without or with the need for the anti light vibration.

Uh, what. Rude.
9/10mmHB#2 diverts the flame with Futility. Barely. He is too determined to be killed by something like a random flame.

A second Guardian of Plot Significance splits off from the first one and points his (copy) Plotblade at 9/10, clearly beckoning for him to make the first move.

It struggles to say it- “I don’t want your sword. I want the dark one dead.”

A firey blast immediately silenced any protests.

He is loathe to run away. Instead he flings a rift down the length of the Plotblade, closing around the end of the Guardian’s hand. This won’t get him anything, but will slow down the Guardian. He continues towards Malevolence, who seems to think his armor still works even though that’s not how nullite works.

The Guardian (2) rips apart the rift, and advances towards 9/10mm. It was at this moment that 9/10 realized that he was no longer in the same place as Malevolence. He was in his own fight.

Something linear to that.

So the guardian, which is an extension of this legendary weapon that is associated with plot significance, is attacking specifically 9/10 and no one else that entered the arena… why?

im working towards a strategy, but im a bit backed up into a wall with both of my characters here.

He grunted. Time splintered even more, clearly splitting apart. There was not much longer left.

Malevolence sighed. "Then I will deal with this stupid prophecy's consequences, whatever they may be." He twisted to the side as time returned to its normal flow, causing the blade to miss his heart.

No. That wasn’t me.

Well then, you should tell your Author that it's rather confusing to name two characters so similarly. And that she should really give some better hints out about your identity.

Nullite does not necessarily produce an anti-magic field, although it can be used to nullify powers. It is itself almost impossible to affect with Narration or other magics, and has a Silencing effect, hence why the vibrations didn't get through it. Malevolence's armor is built to be insulated so that it does not affect him, and also doesn't run on Stormlight, which he was only using to heal.

Malevolence was glad that the Guardian was finally paying attention to the others in the arena. It was about time.

There's no other characters in the arena besides Fog and Malevolence, and Fog hasn't attacked yet.

The Guardian happened to have poor spacial memory.

Ribbon spoke to Fog softly. Can you... Do you have any parts outside?

Ah. That’s cheating :3

Not out of cowardice, at all, but out of the complete lack of desire to obtain the Plotblade of Plot Significance, 9/10mmHB#2 stumbles away from the Guardian, cutting a rift to the other arena. Instead of the other arena, when he steps through, he finds himself back on the cliff side. He seems to be losing focus. Blood loss does that to normal human beings.

Spoiler

Well that went well.

A drone appeared and began attempting to suck Fog up into a Nullite container.

He stomped, throwing Malevolence off balance, then green fire spewed out of his "face"

Ribbon couldn't think straight. I don't know what to do, Fog. I don't know...

Do you want your character to become a Poltergeist? and have hopeless romantic Ribbon still chase her

Also @NameIess since Fog and Ribbon have shared cores, will Fog's corruption affect Ribbon?

So… its weakness is TLT magic or like, the Soft Blade?

The Soft Blade? Nullite isn't indestructible. Malevolence is using it mainly to prevent Narration from affecting him, although protecting him from other magics is a benefit as well. It does prevent him from using any external magics, such as using Darkseeker's powers. which is part of why he wasn't using the armor until now. If Nullite had a 'weakness' it would be Enullers, who could control it as well as Narrators control Prismite (which is what their cores are made of).

"Well," Malevolence said. "You're certainly very powerful. However, I, like 9/10, have no desire to claim your Blade. So... goodbye." A portal back to Malevolence's base appeared in the ground, and he ran for it.

It could have some effect, but the corruption wouldn't automatically spread from Fog to Ribbon.

Fire engulfed the portal. "Do you really think," The Guardian said in his all-present voice, "that I would simply LET you leave, given everything you've done?" He laughed.

"No," he warned. "You will remain here until we are finished."

No spoilers, the Soft Blade is a thing that exists from a sci-fi book by the same author as Eragon. But if Fog had trouble, I doubt the Soft Blade would be much use, so that’s enough context.

. . . I have an idea, she whispered.

She collected a bit of Mordite from the blade, as well as her half of the Narrator core, and slowly wove them together.
