The anvil split in half upon contact, falling to the ground on either side of her. Egis snapped her fingers, teleporting herself and Atlas away from wherever it is that they were. The two appeared in an empty plain filled with the hands bursting out of the ground. “You really want to get rid of them?” She swept her hand out, gesturing at the scene before them. “Have at them.”

“Aw you just ruined da fun.” She pouted. “Ta be honest i was just figh’ing you. Tho’ yu bein here means ya aint d’ere wif da hans so probum soved?”

It is a gift from me. spoke a voice. Sequence deserves a place to rest in peace, one that will not be disturbed. This is such a place.

Unintelligible's eyes widened. "I've heard that voice before." He said. "When I was dead. It's my Author." Without any further hesitation, he stepped forward into the forest.

Aelinor jumped again, looking around for the voice. She narrowed her eyes distrustfully at the word 'Author'. As Unintelligible stepped through the forest, Aelinor began to object. "Wait- Are you sure that- ... Okay..." She sighed and stepped through after him, looking down at her hands and trying to think of how she would hold Conflict if she needed to summon it.

Fine job you did there, 9/10mmHB#2 projected to Egis. If you wanted Rebus to kill us, all you have to do is say so.

erm, side note, I woke up this morning and realized that the night before I had “revealed” 9/10 as a Narrator. That is garbage boring storytelling and I hate it, and as no one has worked it into the plot yet it will be retconned. Also heck to Egis, that whole thing with the sand was funnier than Lopen accidentally saying the second ideal.

Desolation scoffed. "You assume I would aid you?" He laughed. "You forget I hold the only Plotblade that allows for future sight in the entire thread."

Suddenly, time caught back up, like a lag spike in an awful retro videogame. Malevolence was sent flying many feet backwards, and the Guardian was eeriely close.

"There are consequences to those who abuse Author availability." The Guardian spoke.

Fog laughed darkly, keeping ahold of Malevolence.

Nah, I was rooting for you. At least one of the Rebuses has to die, and that one seemed most likely. And see, if I hadn't done that, then you wouldn't have done the cool trick with the lightning. Too bad you ran like a coward; Malevolence has enough on his hands already without you.

Thanks!

9/10mmHB#2 decides not to wait for Malevolence and quickly sketches a pouch into existence, clipping it onto its belt, as well as black gloves with alternating metal studs on the knuckles. It slips them on and grins.

Spoiler

Inkwell groans as 9/10mmHB#2 makes the edgy gloves, as if he’s ever punched something in his life. Don’t you think that’s a little much? You look like an idiot.

“All part of the plan, Inkwell,” it says as it cuts a rift to the arena floor and leaps gleefully into the fray, targeting Fog.

They are such cowards. I want more character flaws, but for now both of them are not really willing to commit to a fight unless the odds are in their favor. 9/10 is worse than Inkwell in this regard, but their first instincts are both to run away.

No, I don’t know why 9/10 is so obsessed with killing Fog. He’s clearly not capable of it

The cape dodges. Ryna touches the cape and the cape settles down unhappily. "Sorry," Ryna says. "My Narration is broken unlike your manager's. Let's go"

Fog had taken up residence within Malevolence, however, so 9/10 couldn't really do anything to her without first hurting Malevolence.

9/10, irritated by this new development, danced in circles around Malevolence, spreading a pale red powder in the air around them, which hang in the air, sparkling. It waited for Fog to emerge, and checked the pen, trying to think of something that might get Fog out of Malevolence’ respiratory system. Unfortunately, it was out of ink.

Spoiler

Going to have to wait a bit until that refills. You’re the one who wasted the last of in on those stupid gloves, anyhow.

9/10mmHB#2 refuses to take responsibility for its actions, resisting the urge to frolic in the sparkly air. That was odd.

What would that do?

It could just cause damage, it could corrupt her soul if you wanted that to happen.

Minus the corrupting I s'pose

Starting to think Ribbon's crush is a tad unhealthy lol.

The drone next to 9/10 spoke. "You want to help me? First, I shall help you. Are you ready to receive that new body I promised you?"

"My Author is not always benevolent," Unintelligible explained "but if he says this is a peaceful resting place, I believe him." He walked through the forest a ways, until he came to a clearing. In that clearing was a simple burial vault made from mossy stone, overgrown with flowers. At its foot, the stone bore an inscription.

Ideas are not dead until forgotten.

Unintelligible looked to Aelinor. "Do you think this place will do?"

“It looks like you’re a bit busy, if I’m being honest. I’ll take you up on that offer as soon as we’re done here. Can you try and excise her?”

"I am an extension of my Plotblade; it has created me. We belong not to each other, but to an individual." The guardian summoned greenish flames again in the form of a whip, streaking through the air in an arc. Then, he lunged forward with the blade in a straightforward blow, meant to kill.

Malevolence's brain resisted her touch somehow, healing the damage done to it. Malevolence's voice sounded in Fog's mind. Look at that, mental communication! You truly have linked us in a very dangerous way. After all a link to me is a link to Darkseeker, and without the safeguards carefully forged by the Dreamsmith, that link is very dangerous for you.

Fog could feel the truth of his words, the power of Darkseeker threatening to seep into her soul in an entirely different way from the attack earlier.

"That will have to do. I assume, then, that a blow from you is similar to one from the Plotblade proper." Someone appeared in front of the Guardian's blade, taking the blow straight through the sternum, in the process deflecting the blow from hitting Malevolence.
