All the more reason to prevent Rebus from reaching his goals." Sequence said with a slow nod.

"I wonder if we have to worry about that at all. The pages are safely locked away, and for the moment we have some peace and quiet to grow and prepare."

"If his goal is to obtain them, then we should worry about it, no matter how safe the pages may be." Sequence said, looking at the ground beneath her feet for a moment. Deep below, near the mantle of her planet, the vault sat within a large chamber, encased in miles of a strange metal.

Sequence furrowed her brow, thinking. "... My heart wants to say no, as the vault was built with the combined powers of Malevolence and I... But... To be honest, I do not know what is possible, nor what Rebus could be capable of. I don't think anybody truly ever could until it's been tested."

Cep nods. "I would feel better if we had Protagonist on our side. Do you know where Cricket has been?"

They thought about it. “Maybe i will… im sure pyk might like the idea of having a place to call home again after so long.. i know id be glad to have one of those.” She said thoughtfully.

Sequence tilted her head a moment, then pulled a small slip of paper from her pocket. She rubbed it between her hands a moment, folded it in half, then handed it to Atlas. "Here. Every time you unfold this paper, you'll appear here, and when you fold it again, you'll return to where you were before! That way, you don't have to remember anything." She smiled. "And if you ever lose it, don't worry, you can just call for me! I'll hear it, anywhere you are."

Sequence smiled. "Of course. Any time you're ready, perhaps after you've discussed it with Pyk, just let me know. We can find somewhere for you, and Aelinor and I can help you build anything you need! We've gotten quite good at it," Sequence added, glancing over at Aelinor who stood in the center of the porch.

"Lovely to meet you, Erdikan." Sequence said brightly. "Come, sit! Tell me about yourself!" Sequence gestured to a sofa  with a coffee table in front of it, and a wooden rocking chair on the other side... She seemed to be very fond of this particular furniture arrangement, as there were lots of them scattered about the large porch. What seemed to be duplicates of Sequence sat and stood talking to some other guests, and soft a soft, unrecognizable orchestral arrangement played softly from a rather old looking gramophone.

The party wasn't exactly what Erdikan expected, although he assumed that it had not been going for long. He noted with curiosity that one of the guests had already been marked, and took a seat on the sofa.

Hey," Cep says softly.

erryin fumbles for words. “You actually.. is it you you? Or a .. or shard of you?” They said nervously. Mostly scared it was dark cep and he would get Viper out. (Which is now what we are calling dark erryin. The mass murderer. Past erryin. Whatever). they felt inside though, in their soul that it was most likely the cep they cared about.

Uhh.. teehee?

Sequence smiled and leaned back in her chair with a sigh. “You’re very welcome..” She still looked a bit concerned as she watched Atlas, but… Who was she to interfere with an adventurer’s travels? … Perhaps she’d keep an eye or an ear open, in case anything bad happened.

“Lovely.” Sequence said with a smile, leaning back in her rocking chair. “Say, would you like to hear a story? … Perhaps Atlas would like to as well?” She sat up and looked over at where Atlas and the one of Sequence’s apparitions, who repeated the question, were by the railing.

Bwahhaha

atlas was watching sequence and the others talk. Wandering around and inspecting everything. Occasionally eating candy. Lonely but she entertained herself.

——

When atlas started walking over Asher put her mask back on. Atlas climbed on the couch next to Asher. “Hey you! Whas you name??”

Asher looked at her awkwardly. “Uh Asher…”

atlas who didnt have any sense for personal space was very close to Asher. “You eyes awe diffewent coluhs.” She stated as if it was a magical fact

asher nods. “Uh yeah….”

atlas looks at sequence “whas da story?” She asked sitting down and holding out a peice of candy to Asher who took it and just set it next to her. “Uh.t thanks i geuss.”

Sorry about the wait, everyone.
Rebus was smiling, though he did not attend the party. Instead, he peered through the Thread to observe the vault - after all, every party thus far had been ended by a catastrophe. “@TwinStorm, @NameIess, @xinoehp512, @Sequence,” he said softly, calling their attention to him. “A description, if you would? Any precautions I would be able to observe, perhaps what happened to the Cricket, Malevolence, Bacon, and Sequence.”

He looked around to see what was near, around, or on the mountain, because a paticular dragon was determined to not let them time skip to the good stuff.

A time skip would not have worked, regardless. A number of characters from different Authors needed to act before anything there could be done.
The base of the mountain probably contained something - the air was rather hard to see through, somehow. Surely from residual taint and not because a particular dragon-adjacent Author was working with canon locations he didn’t know enough about.

Symbol squeezed his hand.

That was certainly true, though Heir was fairly certain one could do this on ice if you tried hard enough.
Rebus squeezed back, looking for another rock to throw. Unfortunately for his plans, a gust of wind completely arrested their momentum, then sent them the other direction.

It’s a deal with Rebus, so probably.
“Effectively. See if you can get him to promise to fulfill the deal.” Rebus looked into the distance. “Then we - or at least I - can find Symbol and my clone.”

Black Luxin

Named quickly tapped balance from one of his tinminds so he didn't trip. He grinded to a halt, before tapping brass, gold and throwing up a duralumin-bendalloy bubble. The increased heat disintegrated his luxin, but it helped oxidise some of the copper in his copperminds, turning them green. Then, he began burning some of his extra bendalloy, stored in his mandible, without duralumin.

Tapping Investiture, he reforged his armour, this time drawing in the light reflected by his copperminds to make green luxin joints in his otherwise blue skin, to add flexibility and increased strength.

Named then stored Identity and Investiture, and used some of the luxin stored in his bone marrow to break of a piece of unsealed nicrosilmind which held some of his chromaturgy. Many pieces, in fact. As his luxin was still bound to his Will, he was able to push them through his armour and into his open blue-and-green hand.

Named extinguished his bendalloy and tapped steel, quickly giving each skeleton a metalmind.

"Tap it!" he commanded.

Yeah - it’s been a while since I read the series. That is what I was referring to, though I really don’t remember much about it.
Even Rebus was unable to keep up with such incredible time warping - from inside the bubble, he was moving at a snail’s pace. This was still far faster than anything else in the room besides light itself, of course - and a more traditional Narrator would have simply ignored the time dilation entirely. As it was, Rebus’s nanotechnology was burning through antimatter at an incredible rate, his mind keeping up only by processing Named’s actions as words outside of time.
The bubble dropped and several generic skeletons exploded into shards of bone, one after another - their only warning a slight change in air pressure before utility fog slammed into them from all directions. Rebus dashed forwards, utility fog shunting air aside so he could move faster and suppress his sonic boom, trying to reach one of the unkeyed metalminds meant for the now-exploded skeletons.

Meanwhile, the other two skeleton generals were probably doing something… @Ancient Elantrian @ChipsAHoid
