Cep lets the Mindscape collapse. "Is that enough?" He asks.

"I don't know."

He kneels, pulls out his sack of stones, and begins stacking them in a pyramidal shape, slightly slanted to one side. He stares at them for a bit, concentrating. Then he grabs the whole pyramid and flips it point down, somehow still balancing. After a moment, his face brightens.

"I believe I found the person you are looking for, though it is faint. They are, again, very far away."

Erryin put theirbhand over their mouth and tried not to laugh. But failed. "Seriously? From what." Breath. Then more laughing. "My author read. He. He didnt seem horrible."

"Trust me," said Bacon darkly. "The creation of such an entity would have consequences too dire to even consider. Possibly even more dire than if the paper were to be taken."

Rebus raised an eyebrow at Bacon. His own tendency towards overcomplicated gambits made it hard to tell if he was being set up, or if Bacon was just being his usual unpredictable self. “Perhaps you’re right. But you haven’t handed over the paper yet, have you?” Rebus grinned, Antagonist’s dark ‘glow’ intensifying. “If I was going to simply use force and not an aforementioned overcomplicated gambit, I should simply attack you and take it. I might even win that, too - we both know most fights are determined by the stubbornness of our Authors, and yours is the one who told me to do this.”

"I would appreciate it if you didn't attack me," said Bacon politely. "It would ruin my face, you see."

No. Although I can see how you make that connection, that was entirely unintentional.

Taeidin shakes his head.

"No, far too far to walk."

Bacon flinched violently. "Don't- look, it's not money. It's ideas. That... entity didn't understand why other people's ideas were important. Can you think of anything more horrifying than that?"

Bacon looked across the room to his other-self.

"He hasn't learned yet," he said introspectively. "Still so certain..." he sighed. "And yet, so unsure."

He turned to Erryin. "We're going to have to teach him to be more considerate somehow. Otherwise he'll never listen to us."

sensing a story behind the first statement but not wanting to push bacon they stayed silent (for the top part) “so how do we teach someone that? The only way i can think of is like, some traumatic *crap* or whatever…. How did you learn?”

"I wrote this story." Bacon gestured all around. "It played out exactly as I envisioned... except for the end. You see, Selene rebelled."

"OH, THAT GUY IS TAKING TOO LONG. MIKE, GET HIM OFF THE STAGE!" His podium began to fall. "NOW... AREW YOU THREE READY??" @Ashkaloda Meanwhile, Ralsei nodded.

"The story was not kind to Selene," said Bacon. "Eventually, she got tired of everyone she loved dying, and she just... left. I don't know where she went. I never saw her again. I looked for her for a while, until I realized she was probably better off without me."

Second nodded.

"Yes, I am ready. And a word of advise: while you certainly have a skill for theatrics, sometimes people enjoy a little more... subtlety."
