Ah. I believe you are confirming what I already suspected, but I have no way of being certain.

Rebus chuckled. You’ll find out soon enough, I suspect.

Rebus smiled. “That’s good to hear. If you truly mean this, we can start planning.”

A sealed envelope appears in front of Rebus, the wax seal still warm.

Most clones of Rebus were in places with anti-teleportation shielding, but he did keep a few specifically for this kind of situation. Rebus’s nanomachines cleanly removed the seal from the envelope and checked for dangers as Rebus caught and opened it.

Huh. I might.

God Killer feels a pulse. It is coming from a door. He suddenly looks incredibly sad. He runs full speed towards said door and gets to it. Just as a piece of magic goes through the door, it is destroyed. And there is no way to get it again. God Killer takes the piece of magic, and consumes it. “He’s… he’s alive…”

Rebus nodded. I await your interpretation of me with curiosity.
Rebus felt he was missing something, which did not often happen to him. “Who are you looking for?”

I speak to you to help you. Or hinder you. On your journey.

I believe so, though I’m not so arrogant to assume it is certain. If you’re offering your assistance, I would accept, though not unconditionally.

Betrayal gave a small shrug and cut the lighting.

There was a deafening noise and a spear of rock came hurtling at Rebus, breaking the sound barrier as it flew.

Rebus gritted his teeth and a spear of utility fog - likewise supersonic - met the rock in a thunderous crash, molten fragments of rock and nanomachines spraying outwards. “I don’t deserve it, Betrayal. That’s why I’d do practically anything for Symbol.”

they nod. And then promptly stay silent and with a far off look like their brain and body were in two different places and like 3 minutes later they shake their head and come back. "Alright.... if I untie you will you like fight or hurt me or something? Or run away?"

I'm not offering my assistance—you will have it or you will have failed.

But for that you must wait.

"If I wanted to do those things, I would have tried already." Rebus chuckled, and the nanomachines that made up most of his body separated, turning him into a cloud that easily slipped his bonds before reforming. "Talking is almost always my first plan of action - if you've ever tried to actually fight, it usually comes down to who has the most plot armor or which Author more subborn."

"Oh." Rebus was very orange, but bled to green as he realized the implications. "Except this means he didn't die, correct?"

Betrayal snorted.

”So you being a soulless, despicable monster- even if it is for someone- makes you worthy of their love?”

He sent hurricane-gale winds at Rebus. He expected this to be blocked, so vanished and appeared behind Rebus, sword slashing. Before a counterattack could be made, he vanished again, this time reappearing a few dozen paces away. Flame blazed in his hands.

You seem to know the ending. Can you tell me what it is and why this slontze is here in the first place? How does this relate to you?

bad erryin  let him tell the story

Other-Bacon paused, tilting his head.

"What?" he exclaimed. "Are you bored of the story already?" He narrowed his eyes, then shrugged. "Ah, well. You're more or less all caught up to now: I suppose you'd rather see it play out in reality, hmm?"

He smiled, then walked away, his haunting music continuing to play.

The ending? replied Bacon. Well. He may be the author of this tale, but the ending is stranger and more painful than even he knows. For him... and for everyone else.

His gaze drifted briefly to Selene as he spoke.

Whats your personal relation with selene anyways?" They put a hand up "no beating around the bush with dramatics ive had enough of that. Straight to the point."

"Kidnapping the clone isn't going to do us much good," said Bacon heavily. "He's a Narrator too, remember? He's not going to let himself get trapped. Until we can integrate him back into me, we aren't going to be able to force him to do anything. And if we tried, we'd likely just turn him against us."

dude i could not have created this character with better timing. Though shes only appeared in the thread once.

they tap their foot. "Narrator..." erryin grins. "I have an idea. My author created a character not to long ago, for a plotline that died out quickly... she had these vines she controlled with nullite in them. They trapped rebus so would they be able to trap the clone?"

The vine can go from non existent to around a person faster then even the strongest narrator could think. Surely he would have done some research so hed recognize her... but not if its a sneak attack." They offer conjuring a drink and taking a sip. A totally definitely non alcoholic drink because erryin would never ever drink. (Sarcasm.)

Rebus seemingly stood there as he was  buffeted by the wind, hit with Betrayal’s sword, and set on fire. But the sword had passed through too cleanly, with no resistance, and the fire passed through to the other side. “You misunderstand,” Rebus said, standing on the other side of Betrayal from the hologram. “I don’t deserve Symbol’s trust. I know that.”
