Immortal Platypus Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 GOOD SCUDDING LIGHT! I GO TO A SWIM MEET FOR ONE DAY AND I COME BACK TO 11 PAGES TO SIFT THROUGH. If I missed anything, quote it and ping me. 9 hours ago, The Bookwyrm said: Bookwyrm stumbled back into reality, coughing loudly. He was far, far away from the Plot, as he usually was, these days. He blinked. "Page 3000," he said, softly. His eyes grew misty. "They made it." He'd been gone for a long time. He distantly remembered page 2000, and the celebration that had accompanied it. Of course, there was no celebration this time. Plot had it's demands. That wasn't a bad thing, as Plot was what had brought this world to it's current leingth. It really is a beautiful thing, he thought to himself. So long, so much time...so many stories that this one was built on. Stories he hadn't been there for. ...Is that a problem? Should I have been there? Or is this okay? It did very much seem like the worlds he'd known were slowly fading against the flow of time, being overrun by steady progression of stories he hadn't read. Ironically, chaos was fading in TLT. He'd once thought that to be it's backbone, interspersed by random moments of Plot. But...was it reversed, now? He sat in his musings on a different world, as far a way, a story continued. Hopefully a story that would continue forever. Platypus missed chaos. Maybe with Bookwyrm back it would eventually return. 9 hours ago, Sequence said: Sequence noticed him not drinking the tea, and offered to take it from him. She chuckled a bit. "You see, that's why I could see myself being a mercenary. Meeting all these new clients and doing all these odd tasks." "Thank you." Sequence looked around at the cabin proudly. "I built it myself! Without Narrating it's existence, mind you. I had a little help, but we built it mostly by hand. To make it feel a little extra special, you know?" Sequence's frown returned, and a slight flicker of anger appeared in her eyes. "You will not fight on my world, Platypus. If Moni does arrive, Perseus will respect my rules and leave her be until they depart, right?" Sequence looked at Perseus, her tone and gaze rather menacing. Certainly much more menacing than one would think of Sequence's warm demeanor. "Sequence, if Endings is in danger of being taken from Moniker, the Thread is in danger. If I must fight to protect Endings, I will, no matter where I am, and if you care about the Thread, I would expect you to as well!" His eyes narrowed dangerously. "But as long as there isn't a threat, I will abide by your rules." 9 hours ago, TwinStorm said: Perseus smiled. "Maybe you've fought, but have you ever felt pain, true pain? I suffered for centuries at the hands of torturers, who lashed me till my veins ran dry. I could not die, though. A special reward for rebellion. I've felt the weight of an entire people and held skies in my arms. I've swum in the fires of hell, and come out unscathed. I've fought heroes and gods, and I've never lost, not a single time. Maybe you'll be the one to do it, though I doubt it. For I will not die, cannot die, until I free my people." He subsided reluctantly, looking around. "Are there drinks?" he asked. "Ah pain. My only companion over the years. You think you have known pain young one? Wait til you kill your only friend, your only ally, and start an apocalypse. Wait til you flay yourself, til your mistakes catch up with you." Platypus seemed to grow, and positively towered over Perseus. "Just you wait. Mark my words, child. You. Do. Not. Know. Pain." Platypus turned his back on Perseus and walked away, carefully avoiding interacting with anyone. 9 hours ago, Dragonheir said: Kion raises an eyebrow. “I’m here because something made me in danger - likely my Render. My Deviation makes it hard to determine what it was, but it also keeps me from getting countered by the Render, if it was indeed what attacked me.” Kion picks an invitation off the ground. “Well, that could be interesting. I’m going to have to wait around for my Render, anyway, so I might as well go.” "So... The Ennullers didn't put you here?" 8 hours ago, NameIess said: “Come on Plat. What does weaving even do? I’m still half-convinced it’s just a totally useless thing you and Thaidakar made up.” "Us? Make things up? We would never." His eyes glinted sarcastically. "Besides, we weave different things. I weave Plot itself. I change the course of what would have happened into what does happen. And yes, it is different from Narration. It doesn't work with Chaos, but is much more effective in a Plot-important fight. He wove something. I forgot what, but it wasn't Plot." 8 hours ago, Sequence said: Sequence beamed and waved to Subversion. "Why, Subversion! Lovely to see you!" A tray of glasses appeared before her. There were four, lined up. "Take your pick! This one was constructed from raw hydrogen and oxygen in its purest form. This one is from a spring in the mountains. And this one is from the lake you see here! Filtered of course. And then this one is the same thing, but not filtered. The lake is clean, but it's still a lake, so beware." Sequence eyes Subversion closely. "So, how've you been? It's been a long time. I believe the last time... and quite possibly only time we interacted was when you killed that one fellow. I can't recall his name... Everybody was quite upset." Platypus glared at Subversion. "I still am. I liked Valiant." 7 hours ago, Sequence said: She nodded. "Fair points." "Why, of course! I invited everybody! Theoretically, even the most ancient and powerful evils could attend, though I did attach something of a threat to my invitations. If you didn't notice it, it's likely because your thoughts are pure. But, for those with thoughts of war and destruction, they'll notice an extra clause. 'When I say this is a peaceful event, I mean it. Those who break the peace will be dispatched swiftly'." Sequence looked rather proud of herself. "Spooky, right? I also gave it a little bit of that d̸̨̠̼̾̂a̴̙̭̽̾ṟ̶̢̓k̵̪͆n̵̩͙͙̂ẽ̸̢̳̙̔s̶̩͊͊s̸͖̫̓̊͜ I have with on occasion." "Wait. Sequence... Did you say you invited everybody? Even... Him?" 5 hours ago, The Bookwyrm said: "...I'd probably put in narrative safeguards. Make it physically impossible for it to happen. Of course, if another Narrator decided to infringe upon that, action would have to be taken...but everyone Narrator here - that I know of - is respectable enough not to start murdering people." He paused. "I hope." Platypus was very relieved that he was no longer a Narrator. It would be unfortunate to prove Bookwyrm wrong. He was definitely not about murdering people if he needed to." 4 hours ago, Through The Living Glass said: "Hacob called me too serious . . . Bacon doesn't really seem to be very serious either, but . . . I was held captive for ten years. Can you blame me if I want to help people instead of just being goofy all the time?" Hacob appeared next to Tam. "Yes. I can blame you for that. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I can certainly blame you for it. Don't worry, Platypus was very serious, and look at him now." 2 hours ago, NameIess said: Unintelligible showed up to the party a little late, but walked over and waved to Sequence. "Hey! Sorry I'm late, I was trying to find an actually useful Plotblade." "Any specific one?" Platypus asked him. "The Council of the Brave Adventurers has accused the Great Wizard of trying to take some very important ones for himself, and I'm trying to stop anyone from taking them." 13 minutes ago, xinoehp512 said: You caught me, I'm actually an artificial intelligence pretending to be a human being. well, I'm Nameless' alt, so I think I got the better end of that deal.

He does like his brooding." "Glad you remember me! Say, you don't intend to dance with Lettuce, do you?" "Well, Sequence is a Narrator, so she probably just whipped all this up in a few words! That being said, I'm sure she'd enjoy eating anyone who tried to interfere with it." "Whoa!" exclaimed Nogard. "That's awesome! Was it an epic battle, or more of a sneak-in-and-get-out type deal?" Bacon let music filter through the connection encouragingly. Sasha laughed. “No, I guess not. But I’m not much of a dancer.”

Through the Living Heir he/him Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 2 hours ago, Sequence said: "Welcome!" Sequence said to Kion as he appeared. "Welcome to-" She stopped and her eyes widened as she spotted the charging Render. "Hey! Wait, stop!" Thick wooden roots grew up from the ground to wrap around the Render's legs in a very strong attempt to keep it stationary." The Render keeps coming, ignoring the parts of its “body” that are trapped by the roots. Instead, it pulls material from the ground and keeps coming, though slowed greatly. Kion sees the Render, and goes to run, hoping it’s still slow enough to escape from. Then, he remembers something. “Narration!” he cries, pushing as much magic as he can through the focus provided by that truly powerful word. Things stop, or rather they seem to. The world is words - has been words since before he came there - and Kion reads them, through his own words. Words were power, after all, or at least focuses for it. Words flowed out of him, caused by his thoughts, but they were not the words he needed; not the words that these strange Narrators used. He could perhaps never be a narrator, at least without some strange event, but there were many around. Narration was words, and you could fit many words in a short time. So Kion thought and explained how to keep the Render trapped. He thought of the fact that it was not objects, but rather what was keeping them together. If one object got out, the Render could put more together around it. And worse, any prison that was an object could be made part of its body, although it would have to be bend and shattered into pieces that could be used to move. But perhaps these Narrators could fix that, or at least prevent it for a time. As Kion cast his spell, the Render got stronger, more aware, as it always did. And Kion knew this, with his strange new knowledge of the words that made things. Reaching the point where he needed to, Kion cast his spell “Narration!” and made sure he would stay in the time he was. Then, his awareness snapped back to things instead of words, and he ran. 18 minutes ago, Immortal Platypus said: GOOD SCUDDING LIGHT!
