"Ah! I suppose you need a ghost hat, don't you?" Bacon the Bard snapped his fingers and the hat went up in a burst of flame.

“It’s fine. I don’t need one.”

Livetha squeaked and scurried up, hoping for a hat.

Bacon conjured a tiny weasel top hat atop her head.

"Well," said Bacon, inspecting the now faintly transparent hat, "I don't think anyone else can use this one now... are you sure?"

Shoe shuffled over, still sopping wet but not so cold anymore.

He waved to Bacon. Hey again. How's it going?

Livetha hopped up and wrapped herself around her neck as a scarf. Beosta glared at her. Traitor.

A gift. Just like…

She smoothed the hat. It felt soft.

"OA!" called Nogard from within his donut of muffins. "Over here!"

"Ah! I suppose you need a ghost hat, don't you?" Bacon the Bard snapped his fingers and the hat went up in a burst of flame.

"Got us out of there," said Erif. "To the safest place I know." He gestured around at the forest they had appeared in.

Selppaenip frowned. "What do you mean, Master? Should we not defend ourselves?"

The Once-Author runs over to Nogard. "What is it?" He kicks a Brave Adventurer away.

“I mean that you should be careful. Do not assume that you know what the enemy is planning. This is a key aspect of normalcy. You must think deeply to determine the truth of things.”

The claws shifted into arms which wrapped around Juli, trying to immobilize her.

"I don't know who you're referring to. Is this another trick of the Brave Advenvturer?"

Great. Just what I needed. To fight another person with weapons that sap magic.

He continued fighting, keeping track of the magic-sapping mace, and trying to avoid interacting with it.

Hacob rolled away from a mace and made room for the Valiant One to join the fight. If he were to fight anyone besides the General, all hope might be lost.

“You’re not one of his? Then you should flee. Flee, before he…” The man trailed off, his eyes glazing over. His chest stopped moving.

Platypus felt something behind him. A presence so vile it almost made him sick.

try as Zanzibar might, th General managed to sap as much energy from his weapons as he sapped from hers.

The Great Wizard raised his staff, and a stream of invisible rabbits slammed into the Valiant One. The hero’s Blade flashed and the rabbits split around him as he continued his charge towards the Great Wizard. “Traitor!”

Selppaenip nodded slowly. "Truly, there is more to normalcy than I could have ever grasped. Very well. I will follow your lead."

Zanzibar? 🤨

Fine then. Zanitar blitzed, blades blurring into glowing streams of light. He threw one at the General, then grabbed his other weapon with both hands and struck ferociously at her.

--

Hacob saw Zanitar attacking, and redoubled his efforts. His shield broke as a mace hit it, but he used the opportunity to hit one of the maces on the handle with his Narrationblade. Must. Resist. Narrating. He fought furiously, knowing that once Nogard was gone this would become easier. He could shift them all like Thaidakar had taught Platypus and take them to a more favorable arena.

Seeing Nogard and Subversion go through the portal, Hacob sent a quick message to the OA. Get through there and close that portal. We'll be fine, but only if Nogard can't see us.

“Lettuce? Is that his name?” Sasha grinned.

Sasha carefully removed the bunny from her head and cradled him in her arms. He was so cute.
She didn’t feel so lonely anymore. She grinned at Bacon, then at Lettuce.

Shoe was surprised by the Stoat.

Hi, he thought, scratching Livetha's head.

Sorry school haha

Beosta glared at the stoat. No fair.

[Not no fair,] Livetha squeaked. [Not no fair at all. Very fair.] She rubbed against Shoe's cheek.

Shoe sneezed.

It was a very high-pitched sneeze.

[You should give him your cloak,] Livetha squeaked.

Beosta glared at her. Why don't you just give him a cloak?

[If you give him your cloak, I won't turn you into a frog!]

Beosta choked on the injustice and threw her cloak at Shoe.

He looked at the cloak and raised an eyebrow at Beosta.
