A hooded figure walked in and the room grew dark and gloomy. It wasn't apparent how he had entered. His face seemed to bleed off black mist. His voice was quiet and hissing. "Greeting once-adventurers. I am the end of your noble quest. But first I have a message for you."

"You have the spear?" Nogard asked hopefully.

The hooded figure threw a knife, with visible skill and precision at Shoe, straight at the heart.

Nogard jumped. "I'm listening, I'm listening!" he yelped.

Shoe threw up his arm, which had a metal guard on it. The knife glanced off the metal and landed on the floor a small distance away.

“Anyone seen Star Wars? This feels like that. A LOT like that.”

"Wait, but what was the message?" Nogard asked belatedly.

"Uh," said Nogard. "Uh oh. I... anybody got an idea?"

Woe woke up with a start, looked at the ceiling, then disappeared. The roof was halfway down, and they were forced to stoop over.

Shoe touched the ceiling. His hand sank into it.

Hmm.

Then it sopped sinking in. It was cemented in. There was four feet left to stand.

Well that's no good.

A small glass marble fell out of Shoe's pocket and rolled just beyond his reach.

Ah!

He tried to mime to Nogard to smash the marble.

Nogard squinted. "Hit the floor? Wait, no, I get it!"

He brought his fist down on the marble, then yelped. The marble bumped against Shoe's shoe as Nogard wrung his hand in pain.

Shoe signed exasperatingly.

He stomped on the marble with his foot, shattering it.

There was a bright blue flash-

-and suddenly Shoe and Nogard were in a completely black room.

Shoe gave him a blank stare.

Honestly, why did people always expect him to say something?

"... Well, thank you anyways," Nogard replied. "Glad to not die. Always a bonus in my book."

He glanced around the room. "So, is this your place, or...? Well, I suppose you can't answer me. Uh, nod or shake your head, I guess?"

Shoe slowly turned around.

Behind him lay a huge, reptilian beast easily twenty feet tall; thankfully, it seemed to be sleeping. Unfortunately, that meant that it was still twenty feet high while it was sleeping. They did not want to wake that thing up.

Shoe frantically motioned for Nogard to be quiet.
