oh that. Let me look at that and I'll see what I can do. Do you know what page that's on?

"Yeah, I guess I can. It shouldn't be too hard."

Never mind, I found it.

With Rym's vanishing, the battle ended.

Nothing stirred save the shifting ash, no sounds echoed through the demolished town but the quiet murmur of the wind, gusting nervously through the streets. Those who had once lived in the ruin had either been taken by that which had been slain or fled, not soon to return.

In the days that would come, survivors spread stories of the horror that had attacked them, a monster of many faces, a horror that should not be. Some would tell of the man who fought the creature, a man with a blade that seemed formed of shadow and death, but a hero nonetheless.

In days yet to be, those stories spread throughout the land and became legends. bedtime stories told to frighten children, of the soul-stealing monster that lurked in shadows and dark places, of the cities left empty by that creature's ravenous Blade. Heroic tales sung by bards of the mighty hero who forged a sword of shadows to kill the darkness that plagued them, of a battle that lasted sixteen days before the triumph came.

As days turned to years, the town that had witnessed that legendary battle crumbled slowly, white desert blotting out all memory of the darkness that once plagued it.

But days not here are of no concern. For on this day, deep within the ash of that covered the battlefield lay a tiny shard of Plot. the smallest of shards it was, strength splintered and stolen by the power of Avatar. But this shard remained, and in that fragment of a fragment, that smallest of all splinters, that which had been slain lived on.

It had lost much. The Mordite blade had killed it again and again, soul after soul stripped away. All the power it had absorbed and more had been taken, every strength, every skill, every thought stripped away by the power of Avatar.

Every thought save for one.

They killed me. They killed me and stole me with that power.

Rage filled the creature, and with that rage a singular desire.

In place far distant, Vengeance flared to life at Platypus's side. It burned with a heat and power the Narrator had never before seen in the Blade he had claimed.

And that tiny, buried splinter began to grow.

"Great! I'd just like you to speed up the power-granting process a little. It'll be worth it, I promise."

"Um... okay. How likely is this to be bad for me? Does this just have to do with Rym now?"

Drawing Vengeance from its interdimensional sheath, Platypus raises it with both hands. Vengeance glowed more and more, until it was a blinding beacon of Light. Shouting, Platypus tries to establish a link. Suddenly Vengeance's glow started to diminish, then dropped to a low glow.

"That's... all i can do." Platypus pants. "Don't ask me to do it again please. It's harder than you think. Especially when you have to make the link semi-permanent so if it comes to it, you can take the power back."

"Bad for you? It'll be great for you. That thing is going to be such an amazing antagonist. If you ever have to fight it, good luck. And I'd be careful about thinking you'll be able to take the power back easily. The nature of the Plotblade you've just empowered will make that... difficult."

"Oh, it won't be easy." Platypus grimaced. "It'll probably be harder than what I just did, but it'll be useful to have the option. Plus the nature of the link means it won't be eager to fight me unless it manages to sever the Connection, which it will lose all the borrowed power instantly if it does."

Subversion shrugged. "For vengeance, that creature will do anything." she tilted her head, eyes gaining a far-off look. "In any case, thanks for the favor. I owe you one."

"I'll remember that. There are ways to keep the borrowed power after severing the link, but they're near impossible. And killing me wouldn't help it achieve vengeance so... I don't think it will attack me."

"If it's revenge gets it in a place to need to fight me, then it will be because it did something I need revenge for. And then, I will probably win that fight as Vengeance will boost me, on top of my already desire-for-revenge-boosted capabilites. It will have to be very powerful to beat me at that point. It's still possible though, which is why I am going to go train. Farewell."

Platypus dissolves into black and gray squares and re materializes elsewhere to train.

So Sequence just summoned the Plotblade that Onyx was holding?

no sorry that wasnt very clear. she summoned a narratioblade in preparation to fight the avatar in defence of the plotblade she won.

The Rather Large Chicken (fondly referred to as Trlc) reappeared. It was riding on The Really Large Butterfly (fondly referred to as Trlb).

Trlb landed on a remarkably small flower. Trlc stood and made a sound similar to that of a screaming goat, if the sound screaming goats make could strike terror into the hearts of all who heard them.

Meanwhile, Tocf showed up and put an origami flower on Platypus's Plotblade. The flower immediately melted into the blade.

"Relax. It won't do anything to Vengance. If I tried to tamper with your Plotblade using narration or Drama, things would get nasty very fast."

"Oh yes they would." Platypus growls. "What will it do? And wait. I thought Nerdy had Drama and Narration, not you... Eh, as long as you explain this I'm okay with it."

Trlc and Trlb inspected the blade.

No they didn't, they weren't at the same location.
