ThroughTheLivingSequence she/her/they/them Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 "One from the old world may have such power." Whispered the Wind.
NameIess Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Asela turned to glare at the Wind. "And where have you been?"
Rabbit Unmade she/her Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 "Many places. I could show you them all, if you'd like." The Wind whistled.
NameIess Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 (edited) "I'm sure you could, but I'd rather you tell me why you haven't visited Talar. It's been nearly a year. The boy barely remembers you exist." Edited November 2, 2022 by Nameless
Rabbit Unmade she/her Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 The Wind blew in annoyance, "I haven't had the time. Maybe tonight. Maybe tomorrow."
NameIess Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 "Maybe never. The universe could end at any second, and you're too busy gallivanting around to remember your promise."
Rabbit Unmade she/her Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 "What are promises?" Asked the Wind, "They are only words. Words can easily be evaded."
NameIess Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 "Words hold meaning, when properly supported."
Rabbit Unmade she/her Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 The Wind gives a little breeze, its version of a smile, "But words have no hold on the Wind."
Rabbit Unmade she/her Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 "I suppose they should." The Wind finally agreed, "I'll check on Talar now. But I can't promise it will be exactly what you asked for." There was silence, and Asela was sure the wind had left. Gourd looked astounded, "Wh-what?"
NameIess Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Asela watched the wind as it danced away in the distance. "Unreliable fool. I don't know what she saw in him."
Rabbit Unmade she/her Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 "Wh-who?" Asked Gourd, still staring at where the Wind had been floating just moments ago.
NerdyAarakocra They/Them Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 "You just entered your apprenticeship, correct? Eventually you'll learn that whoever the mysterious person indicated only by vague pronouns is, you won't find out who they are until the story hinges on it." Asela smiled wistfuly. "If you survive as long as I have, you'll learn."
Rabbit Unmade she/her Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Gourd paled, "Uh, o-okay." He stuttered, "So, um, a-are we going to, uh, s-save the w-world?"
NameIess Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 "Of course we are. I just need to find out what's ending it this time. And teach you how to stop it, in case I die before doing so."
Rabbit Unmade she/her Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 "A-and then we need to get N-Nyx pineapples, uh, r-right?"
NameIess Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 " Don't worry about that part." Asela smiled reassuringly. "it's my price to pay, not yours. All you need to worry about is learning how to save the universe."
The Bookwyrm he/him Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Gourd was dumbfounded enough that he couldn't respond to that. What he did do was ask a question: "W-what's the 'old world'?"
Bird Furious she/her/un/important Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 It may be worth noting tha a completely ordinary buffalo was grazing in the distance.
NameIess Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Asela shrugged. "Exactly what is sounds like. A world that existed before ours. Most think it destroyed, but I believe it is still there, behind some kind of barrier. That barrier has weakened, over the years. More and more things from the old world have begun popping up in this new one." She furrowed her brow, staring off into the distance. "I don't much like the outworlders. They're strange. It's like they don't quite work on the same rules that we do."
ThroughTheLivingSequence she/her/they/them Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 The old world's barrier was indeed weak, as there was a herd of frogs nearby.
NameIess Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 They looked suspiciously Ghanferflaffle-ish, in fact.
ThroughTheLivingSequence she/her/they/them Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 As they were sighted, Asela quickened her pace. Dangerous creatures, those.
Rabbit Unmade she/her Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 "Ack!" Gourd looked terrified by the Frogerflaffles. "Wh-what are, uh, th-those?"
