Calano stared at the figure until they disappeared into the stormy gray darkness.

Then he bent down, picked up the strange engine, and brought it to his workbench.

"Alright, boys," He said, and all the Crolings woke up and crowded around the new thing to work with, "We've got a thing to fix."

Calano grabbed a wrench and went to work, his Crolings helping along by pecking at things they saw. Calano's wisdom in tinkering allowed him to craft a brand new drivetrain, and other parts. Calano had to disassemble a couple of Crolings to fix the engine, but he could get them back together again later.

Soon, most of it was done, but there was something missing. It required a very specific type of oil to work effectively, something the stranger in the rain had failed to mention. As well as a crankshaft, something he couldn't manufacture from his home.

"Hm..." Calano muttered.

The engine began to make a low buzzing noise, which seemed to be coming from somewhere inside the engine block. A glowing gold light shone from the cracks and seams where it was bolted together.

The buzzing grew louder, and the glowing brighter. The engine began to shudder violently.

Calano gestured at the Crolings to back up, and backed up himself.

The engine continued to rattle and buzz, until finally it just… collapsed. It didn’t explode, is just gently fell to pieces, which revealed a glowing yellow orb in the center. It looked a bit like liquid in a zero gravity environment, it’s shape and form distorting ever so slightly. It gave off a faint warmth, a glowing aura surrounding it.

After Noot promptly ate it, another knock came at Calano's door, though this one was much less urgent.

Ninja'd, but still canon.

True to his character, Noot promptly ate the cookies, although they didn't sit well with the strange machine in his stomach. The device continued to vibrate and glow, giving Noot the appearance of a fuzzy jack-o-lantern.

Calano made everything after Sequence's message uncanon, and continued the storyline originally.

He stepped closer to the orb, and a Croling hopped next to it and moved to peck it.

The orb distorted a bit and drifted away from the crow to avoid its beak. It almost seemed… alive?

Noot was still protected from the Quarkbeast as animus magic is not so erasable as narration.

Which was in fact, false, as with Narration, it was possible for the Animus gene to have never existed in the first place due to the fact that plot twists existed.

The orb continued to shy away from the mechanical bird, making humming and buzzing noises and it drifted around the room. Eventually, as the bird tried again to attack the orb, it did something rather unexpected. The warm golden glow changed to harsh crimson and it let out a deafening staticky noise, the grim light casting the entire room in a dark red hue.

Calano cursed, and beckoned the Croling to his outstretched hand. The Croling landed in his palm, and Calano shielded it from the harsh red light with his hand, turning his back to it in fear.

A soft knock sounded at Calano's door.

I would like to participate in this storyline, If that's okay. Though I'll do my best not to derail it.

yes please. i know this thread is like 'woo randomness!' but this storyline should be normal with but a hint of random.

Calano glanced up at the door, the ball still hissing behind him. He froze, not knowing what to do. Two visits in a day? What was going on?

He slowly padded to the door, and opened it an inch, peering out at the darkened porch.

Rym was standing there. He wore his normal grey button up shirt and black cargo pants, but was also wearing a sturdy cloak to protect him from the rain that was falling outside.

"Oh," he said as he saw the glowing red orb. "Do you need some help?"

"Umm...." Calano said.

A couple of Crolings flew from the gap and perched in the strangers hair, investigating it. Probably searching for bugs. Their wings made metallic clangs as they flew.

Rym glanced up at the birds in his hair. He raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything about it.

"I came here because....well, I like to be where important stuff is happening. And this seems like something important..." He looked worriedly over Calano's shoulder at the floating red orb, which was still emitting the loud static noise.

The Crolings glanced up pleadingly at Calano, who opened the door more. Calano glared at them, but beckoned the stranger inside.

"I don't know what you'll be able to do..." Calano said slowly, "But I guess you're welcome to try. These two trust you, so I guess I do too."
