Going_North_cal Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 The plumage of the small bird in Calano's hands turned a stark, deep blue. It was the most familiar color he had ever seen. "I- Oh gods. Ohhhh gods. Lana?" Calano stared, dumbfounded, at the bird in his hands, whose eyes changed from that of a bird, to that of a human, with irises that glowed a gentle cyan.
Shining Silhouette he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Lana stood up and smiled. "Took you long enough." She wrapped her arms around the bird. "Took you way too long..." she whispered. "I'm sorry, Calano. I messed things up. I just wanted you to be happy," she said, looking down at his royal blue eyes.
The Wandering Wizard he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Meanwhile Bart finished trees and started on ghanderflaffles. They were rather tasty.
The Bookwyrm he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 If Bart continued at his current rate, he would consume all organic matter in the universe. Including the new one that Calano had created. Luckily, Eof, who needed organic matter for his master plan, began countermeasures to halt Bart's gluttony.

Calano watched the purple bird jump from his hands, grow until Lana herself knelt before him, then hug him. "I... I... I don't understand. You hated me, I saw it! We were done the minute the judge passed judgement."
Shining Silhouette he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 "Sometimes feelings are stronger than that. Stronger than a second opinion. Stronger than the law." Lana said with passion. "I was upset. I didn't understand what I was feeling. I was confused...why is it so easy to be confused? The judge found me guilty, and I was ashamed. Maybe I blamed you for that, but there was the other part of me that truly believed it, that thought that I was too guilty to be loved."
Going_North_cal Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 "What was there for you to be guilty of? I was the one who broke the law, even though the law was the most immoral and wrong law out there. That City is better off without you, and without me." Calano hugged Lana, and willed himself not to cry. He was definitely in shock, this was not something he had been expecting. "How did you find me?"
NameIess Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Nameless applauded loudly. Calano was doing a great job of backstorying. 1

"You're right," she said, letting herself smile. "Corruption can do without us." "And I know you, Calano. I know you would try to find the freest place to soar. I looked in the mountains, the valleys, the rivers, everywhere I could think of. I looked for signs of blue birds and I followed the trail you left behind. I knew I would find you eventually."
Going_North_cal Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 "And you finally found me in the storm. Over the sea." A sudden realization hit Calano. "And you dove headfirst into the sea! Almost killing yourself! Lana!! Don't do that!!!" We knew this day would come. We knew She would find you, and find us. The Mother always finds her way to her Children, whispered Calano's feathers. Calano stared at them as they laughed, dumbfounded. "Can... Can you hear them too? They just said some weird stuff."
Shining Silhouette he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Lana scratched her neck sheepishly. "I'll do my best next time." She cocked her head to listen...but heard nothing. "What do you mean? I didn't hear anything."
Going_North_cal Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Silly boy. The Mother cannot hear us. Only we know she is The Mother. The feathers laughed in Calano's head. Calano knitted his eyebrows, confused. "The feathers," He gestured to the double rings of iridescent feathers, "They're calling you The Mother."
Shining Silhouette he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Lana laughed uncomfortably. "That's a little strange. I don't know why that could be." She thought for a minute. "Hey feathers, why am I The Mother?"
Going_North_cal Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 The feathers laughed in Calano's head, and turned a violent shade of purple. You have always been The Mother. It was the feelings you caused that brought about our existence. You are The Mother, we are The Children. And The Mother always finds her way back to her Children. Calano recounted what they said to Lana.
Thaidakar the Ghostblood he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 On 8/8/2022 at 7:07 PM, Nameless said: "Spook? Where'd you get off to. I can't understand this guy at all." On 8/8/2022 at 7:35 PM, Shining Silhouette said: "Niping the where of the wanting of Imperial," Misting said sadly. "The meeting pleasure of how of Lord Mistborn" Spook appeared with a burst of mist, "sorry..." he took a deep breath, "there was a wormhole and Thaidakar started slapping penguins in an alternate reality... *breath* sorry..." he rubbed is head, "also, I'm not that Spook."
Shining Silhouette he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Lana looked bewildered. "What kind of feelings?" She glanced at the feathers. "That looks like a violent shade. I think that-" She stopped herself. "I don't want to assume anything, but do you think these feeling are from before or after we parted ways?"
Thaidakar the Ghostblood he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 That was when suddenly an army of spider ghanderfaffles, led by Abomination, killed someone named oisfhgaowghoehg.
Going_North_cal Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 We have been here since the time of the Banishment. We have been here since we fell from the City Of Angels on stygian wings. We have been here ever since The Mother told us to leave. Calano said as such. "I'm very confused," He said, "They've never been this cryptic before."
Shining Silhouette he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Lana looked thoughtful. "Calano, did your feathers change in any way when you left the City? When I...when I told you to leave?"
Going_North_cal Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 "You mean the fact that they just appeared, but I don't remember when they appeared and for some reason have just accepted that they've always been there?"
Shining Silhouette he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 "Um, that smells to me like witchcraft," Lana said, wrinkling her nose. "But not just any kind of witchcraft. My sister's witchcraft. Maybe your feathers are mistaking me for her."
Going_North_cal Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 We would not. We know The Mother. You are The Mother. Calano recounted what they said and shrugged. gotta go to ESS, i'll respond when I can.
Shining Silhouette he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Lana sat there thinking. There could be a lot of reasons for this. She hadn't been in full control of herself that one night, she'd known. Could she have caused this? sounds good
Thaidakar the Ghostblood he/him Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Thaidakar rubbed his fingers together, he had to do something before he had to go. Something... something was coming. he could sense it.
