The plumage of the small bird in Calano's hands turned a stark, deep blue.

It was the most familiar color he had ever seen.

"I- Oh gods. Ohhhh gods. Lana?"

Calano stared, dumbfounded, at the bird in his hands, whose eyes changed from that of a bird, to that of a human, with irises that glowed a gentle cyan.

Lana stood up and smiled. "Took you long enough." She wrapped her arms around the bird. "Took you way too long..." she whispered.

"I'm sorry, Calano. I messed things up. I just wanted you to be happy," she said, looking down at his royal blue eyes.

If Bart continued at his current rate, he would consume all organic matter in the universe. Including the new one that Calano had created.

Luckily, Eof, who needed organic matter for his master plan, began countermeasures to halt Bart's gluttony.

Calano watched the purple bird jump from his hands, grow until Lana herself knelt before him, then hug him.

"I... I... I don't understand. You hated me, I saw it! We were done the minute the judge passed judgement."

"Sometimes feelings are stronger than that. Stronger than a second opinion. Stronger than the law." Lana said with passion.

"I was upset. I didn't understand what I was feeling. I was confused...why is it so easy to be confused? The judge found me guilty, and I was ashamed. Maybe I blamed you for that, but there was the other part of me that truly believed it, that thought that I was too guilty to be loved."

"What was there for you to be guilty of? I was the one who broke the law, even though the law was the most immoral and wrong law out there. That City is better off without you, and without me."

Calano hugged Lana, and willed himself not to cry. He was definitely in shock, this was not something he had been expecting.

"How did you find me?"

Lana's heart pounded as he replied. "You're right," she said, letting herself smile. "Corruption can do without us."

"And I know you, Calano. I know you would try to find the freest place to soar. I looked in the mountains, the valleys, the rivers, everywhere I could think of. I looked for signs of blue birds and I followed the trail you left behind. I knew I would find you eventually."

"And you finally found me in the storm. Over the sea."

A sudden realization hit Calano. "And you dove headfirst into the sea! Almost killing yourself! Lana!! Don't do that!!!"

We knew this day would come. We knew She would find you, and find us. The Mother always finds her way to her Children, whispered Calano's feathers.

Calano stared at them as they laughed, dumbfounded.

"Can... Can you hear them too? They just said some weird stuff."

Silly boy. The Mother cannot hear us. Only we know she is The Mother. The feathers laughed in Calano's head.

Calano knitted his eyebrows, confused.

"The feathers," He gestured to the double rings of iridescent feathers, "They're calling you The Mother."

The feathers laughed in Calano's head, and turned a violent shade of purple.

You have always been The Mother. It was the feelings you caused that brought about our existence. You are The Mother, we are The Children. And The Mother always finds her way back to her Children.

Calano recounted what they said to Lana.

Spook appeared with a burst of mist, "sorry..." he took a deep breath, "there was a wormhole and Thaidakar started slapping penguins in an alternate reality... *breath* sorry..." he rubbed is head, "also, I'm not that Spook."

Lana looked bewildered. "What kind of feelings?" She glanced at the feathers. "That looks like a violent shade. I think that-" She stopped herself. "I don't want to assume anything, but do you think these feeling are from before or after we parted ways?"

We have been here since the time of the Banishment. We have been here since we fell from the City Of Angels on stygian wings. We have been here ever since The Mother told us to leave.

Calano said as such. "I'm very confused," He said, "They've never been this cryptic before."

Lana sat there thinking. There could be a lot of reasons for this. She hadn't been in full control of herself that one night, she'd known. Could she have caused this?

"What are you thinking?" Calano asked quietly.
