While Melody slept, she sent a subconscious message for help to Mr. No-Name. She was stuck inside a nightmare!

He then stumbled back at the myriad of colors and images spinning around him. He fell off of a small island where he had appeared, falling for what seemed like hours. Finally, he landed in a completely black space without walls or a ceiling, unable to see the place where he had begun. In the distance, there was a small, blindingly white spotlight surrounded by misty black monsters with glowing green and yellow eyes that spoke in whispers, mentioning unspeakable horrors and subconscious doubts alike. He noticed more monsters gathering around the spotlight and loped closer to see who was in the spotlight.

It was Melody.

X's avatar felt a subtle stirring in his mind. Something was wrong.

He immediately turned to look at Melody. His eyes widened.

"Don't worry," he whispered. "I'm coming."

With that, he closed his eyes and stabbed himself through the heart.

Nameless pushed his way through the monsters to reach Melody. "Hi Melody, I heard you needed some help, what can I do for you?"

Vapid stared at him questioningly and stabbed herself too, but she missed and hit her spleen and then her nose and then her sandwich which was on her foot. "Why are we doing this again?"

His hand passed through her like misted shadow. Like she was only an illusion, or a dream.

Vapid looked down at her knife which was still in the sandwich. "Dangit," she said. "I was saving that!" She then stabbed herself in the heart and spleen at the same time because she couldn't handle the fact that her sandwich was gone . . . forever

X's avatar did not respond. The spirit within it had fled, never to return.

"Melody," called X's avatar. "Melody, are you there?"

"Hmmm. It would appear that you have a case of insubstantialism. I'm not  sure how to help." Nameless heard X's avatar shouting faintly. "SHE'S OVER HERE!" He shouted.

Vapid fell forward. Before she could hit the ground, she found herself on the floor of the darkened dream. She looked up, frightened for the second time in her life and stood shakily, walking toward the only light in sight.

"Actually," said a voice, "you're the one that's insubstantial."

Vapid saw Melody and Nameless from a distance, and smiled for the 3rd time in her life, relieved to see some familiar faces.

Schrodinger had already been forced into an insubstantial state once, so he stayed far away and continued catching up with Regnidorhcs.

"I saw you stab yourself and it looked like fun, so I did it too. It took a while to get it right."

The voice continued, "This is her dream. You have no influence here. She cannot hear, feel, see, or sense you."

Narrator Nebula walked in, tipping his top hat to X.

"He can't see you, either," said the voice. "He gave his life to come here in truth."

Melody is curled in the fetal position on the floor. Her head is hidden between her knees, and she slowly shakes her head, tears dripping down her face and onto the black ground. She seems to be trying to block out the world around her, but it is failing, for the whispers penetrate all. "You're not good enough." "You don't deserve to be on this quest." "The world is ending and you can't stop it." "Death is inevitable, and your friends will be the ones to cause yours." "You can't trust anyone."

Schrodinger realized that these monsters were the ones that were causing Melody's negativity, and said so to his twin.

Nameless glanced around, looking for the source of the voice, but he could see nothing. "I see. Well then, I suppose I must-" Nameless winced as he opened his hand and let Shar disappear to mist. "This- *grunt* hurts- a bit *wince* more than I antici-" Nameless collapsed to his knees, stretching, before bursting apart into energy before recollecting himself. "Good day to you X, Vapid. How can I help?"
