The dark spren relayed the information, then split in half, one remaining where it was, one flying off towards the Alleycity.

"It's fine," she said automatically, blinking at him. Why had he felt the need to stare at her like that? Deteca nodded. "If you want." She glanced at the seon. "Thank you for informing me; I'll be there as quickly as I can."

Sudiov took a deep breath in, pointless though it was given that he didn't need to breathe,but the motion helped to relax him a little. He dropped his shoulders a little, allowing the muscles to relax. Finally ready he gave a small nod to himself and held out one hand before him until he began to stare at it intensely.

A small bead of darkness appeared at the center, steadily growing until it formed a small orb of perfect darkness that seemed to absorb the light from around it.

Careful attention was needed to avoid using too much but if he didn't use enough then Voidus might not notice. The ball grew a little larger under his watchful eyes before finally stopping, maintaining a consistent size as it seemed to spin gently.

His eyes briefly glanced up to Deteca, watching her curiously for a moment before he began staring off into the distance again, eyes unfocused and wandering until they finally seemed to snap to a point. Glaring daggers through the space that lay between them and with clenched teeth, Sudiov gave a low murmur.

"Voidus."

Deteca watched Sudiov warily, quietly chanting Please can we all survive this in her head.

There was a sudden swirl of glowing mist before them which slowly resolved into a number of figures composed of Stormlight. Looking almost solid if not for the small whisps that still came off of them.

"Sudiov." Voidus said as he materialized. "I don't suppose even you'd be idiotic enough to do something like this, but on the off chance you were..."

His eyes narrowed, all light vanishing from them as he stared blankly at Sudiov.

"Save it for your underlings." Sudiov snorted.

His face grimaced as though in pain before he continued speaking, talking to Voidus like this felt unnatural. But not as unnatural as the disturbance he'd felt.

"So it sounds like you noticed it as well, that saves some time. I have some people who'd like to talk to you..." He motioned off to one side, giving Deteca a chance to speak if she wished.

Deteca's mouth formed a small O of shock as a figure she knew to be Voidus materialized right in front of them, followed by a horde of DA Denizens

shimmering into the distance. In the middle of TUBA's base! How could Sudiov look so unworried? She shivered, studying this not-quite-a-god as he spoke. "I don't suppose even you'd be idiotic enough to do something like this, but on the off chance you were..."

She forced her expression to calm, observing the light - no, Light, as in Stormlight - flickering off the group. This was a Lightweaving being projected into their base. She could deal with that. When Sudiov gestured at her, she nodded at the Dark Alley; had they all gathered? It looked like most, if not all, of them were in attendance. "Hello. If you don't know me, I am Deteca Nutvry, the current leader of The Underground Bakers' Association. I wish I could tell you it's a pleasure, but even if it weren't under these circumstances, there's too much animosity between our groups for me not to be wary." She shot a quick glance around the room, scanning to see if anyone was panicking at the intrusion.

"It's those circumstances that we wanted to talk to you about. While we haven't yet ascertained exactly who's behind..." She waved lightly at a window, where the state of Alleycity could be seen, and her lips tightened. "This, we know you intend to stop them, and we do as well. Nobody here wants the Alleyverse to be destroyed. We thought it might be a good idea to work together to fight the cause of this, as combining our forces would make us stronger." She eyed Voidus. "And to be honest, TUBA doesn't want you obliterating half the city to quench the problem, which you have to admit is a reasonable concern when it comes to dealing with the Dark Alley."

Melody walked into the room, looking around. So many people... she takes a deep breath, then puts a slight sound barrier around her ears, making the noise of the room quieter. Then she steps in.

The spren looked at her for the slightest fraction of a second, then turns back to the conversation.

I take a random approach to capitalization a lot of the time.  I mean I think technically you should?

Voidus gave a slight, grim smile to Deteca but his eyes remained cold as he spoke.

"I understand your caution, I'm not exactly without my own." His eyes flickered over to Sudiov and back. "Which makes this offer of yours somewhat suspect. Why should we combine forces with you when we're more than capable of dealing with this ourselves? And losing half of a city is better than losing all of it after all. I have no faith whatsoever that your... ally here would avoid attacking the moment our back was turned and that would be little better than leaving this matter unattended."

Sudiov stood nearby, his smile seemed polite but the daggers he glared in Voidus' direction showed that the mistrust between them was mutual.

"So." Voidus continued. "What do you have to offer us to offset the risk?"

The Stranger took in the assembled group with a glance,  but his eyes lingered on Sudiov. So this was the Fragment, the Rebellious Reflection that had been plaguing Voidus for these recent years. 

The similarities were striking, but that was to be expected. What was more interesting were the differences. Cognitive aspects divorced from their progenitors tended to warp, take on lives of their own. After a while it was hard to tell they had once been a near perfect Reflection of their originator. This held true for Sudiov, the Stranger noted. The follicle alterations, slight differences in posture and syntax, and last but not least, the lack of total dispassionate curiosity. The look that meant anything and anyones could be used as materials for an experiment. Sudiov was, weak. He lacked the resolve to seize the world and carve it open to gain the secrets it hid.

And it infuriated the Stranger. Voidus possessed an incredible Scientific mind. He was willing to go to any length to ensure that their understanding was increased and Science was furthered. He had been an inspiration to the Stranger, a role model, a partner, even a friend. And this Shadow, this warped Reflection had forsaken that very thing. He was a mockery of a great man, a waste of potential! An affront to Science!!!

The Stranger felt his grin become increasingly predatory, and the Cognitive Cloak began to unfurl. The images of people and creatures stretched out from his back and whispering filled both rooms, traversing the cognitive link.

"Is this the thing that has defied the Alleys, Voidus? It comes seeking our aid, after standing in direct opposition to us? It has allied with TUBA, for blood's sake! They are a mockery of baking, a degenerate group of spineless dimwits who couldn't tell the difference between quantitative and qualitative data!"

His voice was like a slow moving wave, rolling and terrible in its inevitability. 

"First some wet behind the ears group of morons with money decide to start messing with the Void, then the one guild directly opposed to us asks to join with our efforts to exert some measure of control while we restore order to the city? We made the PLANET. Who gives a rusting rivet what happens to portions of a city?"

The shadows behind him were writhing with increasing violence, causing the Stormlight projections to flicker and fuzz.
