I’m LDS and I see the similarities between covenants and oaths from The Stormlight Archive. Especially since a covenant is a promise made between man and God, where we are the only ones able to break our promise. It is the same with Spren in the case of the Stormlight Archive. Only the human can mess things up. We see this with Kaladin in the Way of Kings. Its cool to have an excellent fantasy writer who is LDS. I find his writing very exciting. The great thing is that he can do that without detracting from the story or disrespecting other beliefs.
