Aleksiel Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Mind that Shallan knocks off a goblet of spheres on the floor of her cabin when she wakes up and some of them could have easily rolled out of the door to Jasnah. So she could have gained access to stormlight and hopefully escaped death. 1

terox he/him Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 It is entirely possible that Jasnah spren gave her a warning so she could have engineered a decoy . On the other hand she isn't good at all with organic soulcasting , I would really want her to be either survive or be ressurectable .I prefer character deaths to happen with better reasons like Kelsier's one /Note that Jasnah is exhausted as of chapter 6 , so she probably couldn't have fought her attackers with surgebinding/

Maybe the body automatic traveled because of Jasnah second surge and this is a red herring to let us hope, but man i think that this would be a waste of good character with lots of potential. This is or a Martin Death, to shock and make things look real or a temporaly leave form a charecter that are potentialy to effective to her own good, she could do thing go to easy if she act, so Brandon gived her a vacantion and she will return later. Well any way one Kholin down seven left. Optimistic of you. But stormlight cannot heal an axe wound to the chest followed by a coup de grace stab that almost certainly was delivered straight through the heart. There is no one even remotely close to them with the necessary Surges to save her. Transportation would just make her dead somewhere else. Illumination could maybe make an Illusion of her still alive. I'm sorry...but on a scale of complete alive to completely dead - she's extra dead. If this scene was shown through the medium of an old RPG game, the damage dealt to her would say, "OVERKILL!" next to it. What a shame. I really, really liked her. What will become of Ivory?

If her physical body had been destroyed and her mind is in shadesmar she could probably body snatch to come back, or wait for her body to be repaired and then return. 2

Also while Brandon kills off more main characters than Martin, he always gives them SIGNIFICANT deaths...... so don't worry He also wanted a second Kaladin flashback book, things happen =) My best clue that could indicate she being alive is the fact that Peter said in some post about the choice of the released chapter "That woudn't be fair with the reader see some chapter before be able to read the whole thing". I understand this as wait and see folks, wait and see =) Made me think of "tis but a scratch" from Monty Python lol. Exactly my point, "minor wounds" all of them. Seldaar Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I'm confused now. Did Shallan get the sword when her dad died or when her mum died cause she says that she was young when she got it? I thought her dad died a year ago? I believe the theory is she got the sword when her mom died when she was young. As the flashback we've seen talks about her mom's body being turned over to hide the eyes, and her dad escorting her away from that body and the body of a bloody man. My thought is she killed her dad with the Blade by accident somehow, and also broke the Soulcaster. So she potentially killed both her parents with the Blade, which is why she has a mental block on summoning it.
