Shardbearer he/him Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 It also seems she had Pattern, or another crypticspren, and kinda knew how to use soulcasting in her flashback.
Peng the Just he/him Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I thought we were going to have a Jasnah POV book. Look at this WOB. Okay, the next question we have—I think this one you might have answered before—but have we met all the main point-of-view characters yet? Or, if not, what percentage are we talking?BRANDON SANDERSONYou have met almost all of them. Let me do a count... Let's see. The main characters in the book are—in the series—Kaladin, and Dalinar, Adolin, Jasnah, Shallan, and Navani, whom you all met in this book and most of them had viewpoints. Szeth, Taravangian, and Taln. And one of the other Heralds; I'm not going to tell you who that is. But I think you've met...you have, I'm sure, met that person; I know he's in there. And so, I think you've met them all, basically. Taln is the person who shows up in the epilogue.
Azul he/him Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 So, who else is praying that Transportation works similar to Tesla's machine in 'The Prestige' ? 1
DiamondMind he/him Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I thought we were going to have a Jasnah POV book. Look at this WOB. He also said that he had no qualms of having a book of flashbacks for a character that already died. We all assumed it was going to be dalinar or Szeth, but...
Shardbearer he/him Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I thought we were going to have a Jasnah POV book. Look at this WOB. Yes, but Brandon has said that characters could die before reaching their flashback book. Also that quote doesn't say all those characters will get their own book, only that they are the main POV characters, which might or might not be the same thing.
Aminar Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Well, I guess that means no more bossy smugness for this book. I wonder if her Spren can look like her body. Another thought comes to mind... Shallan has a shardblade. People have theorized that Radiant's get Shardblades. Jasnah should probably have one by now if Shallan has one. So if no Shardblade hit the deck she's not dead. Assuming my other assumptions are correct.

Aminar Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Assuming Radiant's generate a shardblade somewhere within their oaths. Jasnah's been soulcasting for some time. It seems likely that if that's how Shallan got her blade then Jasnah would also have one.

It seems likely that if that's how Shallan got her blade then Jasnah would also have one. Why doesn't Kaladin have one if that's the case? I think we can safely assume Shallan got her Shardblade the normal way - bonding with one already existing. She hasn't said any of the Ideals yet, so she's far from a KR.

I'm just operating off of a different theory. And Kaladin has only said one oath. We don't know what Jasnah or Shallan have done.

We really don't know about Jasnah, but we had plenty of Shallan's PoV in WoK. Wouldn't she know her abilities better if she has gotten to the fifth ideal? And have a spren earlier? I kind of assumed one can only progress with Ideals after they have bonded to a spren.
Havoc Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Is that an actual person reading? Sound like text-to-speech to me.
DiamondMind he/him Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Is that an actual person reading? Sound like text-to-speech to me. Yep. Same person who read Shallan's chapters in WoK.
Havoc Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Yep. Same person who read Shallan's chapters in WoK. It's my first time listening to an audiobook, but I absolutely cannot imagine listening to an entire book in this voice. Very monotonous and robotic. That might seem a bit rude, for which I'm sorry. I'd honestly imagined an audiobook would sound like someone telling you a story. Edited March 3, 2014 by Havoc

Some readers are better than others, and of course it's all based on personal opinion. Me, I really can't get into audio at all. My eyes need something to do.
Swimmingly he/him Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 It's not as bad as you think, really. Though I prefer the text for various reasons.
The Rooster he/him Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 I listen to many many audiobooks. Kate Reading is great. 1
Caldain he/him Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I listen to many many audiobooks. Kate Reading is great. Agreed. I will admit I had some trouble with her voice at first when I started listening to the Wheel of Time Audiobooks but both her and her husband are fantastic. I've heard some bad ones before but Kate Reading is not one of them. And I might be alone but I rather like Pattern's voice
FeatherWriter she/her Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Well any way one Kholin down seven left. WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY. NATANS. YOU TAKE THAT BACK RIGHT NOW. RIGHT FREAKING NOW. NO MORE DEAD KHOLINS 2014. 1
Argent he/him Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Well, crap. I accidentally opened this topic and saw the quote a couple of replies ago before I realized which topic I was in. I am going to interpret it as "Jasnah (presumably) is missing, but we don't know what happens to her," which then I am going to latch on and decide that she either shows up in the second half of the chapter, or later in the book. But, boy, did I get a mini heart attack...

FeatherWriter she/her Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 We warned you about spoilers, Argent. We told you dawg.
Chaos he/him Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Argent, do I need to make a "Don't spoil yourself, dummy" permission mask to literally prevent you from coming to this board? ...That is actually a good idea XD
