  1. Maybe we should just be happy we have toilet paper and its not just left hand and a bowl of water.
  2. ah, I knew goats and toads did but not horses as well.
  3. Loooreee! You forgot to add they also have rectangular pupils. Not sure what it means, other than they have mastered sage mode.
  4. Same here. Between this and Pattern checking out people in baths spren seem pretty pervy!
  5. People seem to be going nuts over the hair color ratio. There are several reasons I can think of that don't involve one of them being adpoted. Also we have already had a WoB on this.
  6. @Pattern We have already seen that Shallan likely has at least some ability at, for lack of a better term, farseeing, being able to see either current / future events happening in other locations. (Back on the beach when she drew both Shalash and Yalb). So my guess would be there is a lot more to LIghtweaving than simple illusions.
  7. As far as we know Renarin has not progressed enough to summon his Blade.
  8. To me this feels like a horrible idea. Sadeas death would have eaten away at Adolin, I think we can all agree on that. In time he may have even cracked and confessed. Now with the new murder he has been giving a focus, something to galvanize this thoughts and actions. Someone is using his killing of Sadeas as a cover to kill other people and I don't think he will rest til he finds out who. Adolin isn't stupid and has to know that if he confesses now he will be suspect in this new killing and the actual murderer is much more likely to remain free. This gives him even more reason to not confess.
  9. I would guess infusing stormlight would give him some advantage even without a ton of skill. And it does mention that the victims clothing was disheveled from an extended fight.
  10. The second murder is very curious, The suspect pool could be very large so lets look a reasons why someone would do a copy cat killing. 1) To put more pressure to investigate. Lets face it, even though he was a highprince not that many people are going to be upset over Sadeas bitting it. 2) Someone knows it was Adolin. If this is the case it could almost be a way to protect Adolin, if someone can show he has a alibi for this murder that takes suspicion that he killed Sadeas. 3) to cause chaos. Tired now so can't think of other reasons.
  11. It seems several people have had this happen with international purchases. I've read some have had it cancelled multiple times or had problems finding it on a phone but were able to reorder from a PC. If the cover is all that is troubling you then you could get the UK version and then change the cover to the US version with a program like Calibre.
  12. From my very limited understanding of quantum entanglement that is pretty much the same thing isn't it ? Like the Ansible in Ender's Game.
  13. @Ansalem I think i see what you are saying. The problem comes from trying to apply mechanics in the physical plane to the cognitive. From my understanding the CR is more like a flat map, with only the parts people really think about appearing on it. With spanreeds I feel the link is made cognitively but their movement in the cognitive isn't that important. Not sure if you have read Kingkiller by Rothfuss but how some sympathy works in that feels the same here. I believe these two things are actually the same thing so when I move one the other moves as well.
  14. location on the planet shouldn't matter since their relative positions to each other would never change.
  15. I agree that spanreeds work through the cognitive realm but I've always pictured the cognitive as a mirror. Planetary movement would not affect spanreeds because of relative movement. Both are moving through space at the same speed at the same time. We have been told spanreeds won't work on a ship but not if that means they won't activate or not. Its possible you could activate it but the reed would lock in place while the ship would continue moving, thus making it impossible to function properly. If so you could in theory make them work, if you had them both on ships moving at the exact same speed in the exact same direction. Highly unlikely with the current technology but theoretically possible.
  16. I use to run D&D and Pathfinder PnP games and my players would always argue with me on how far they could travel in a day so I ended up doing a bit of research on it. If i remember correctly this seems pretty in line with what I would expect Kaladin to be able to accomplish. Between his training as a solider (who spend a lot of time marching) and bridge runs I would imagine he has excellent endurance. He is traveling cross country and while that may be slightly easier on Roshar due to the enviornment it still not as fast as someone walking/running on roads. Someone mentioned gravity in a earlier post and I don't really think that would be much of a issue since its his native gravity and his muscle mass and bone density would be designed for it.
  17. @Calderis The man's arm was cut with a knife in a struggle with her father so not metaphorically. I would imagine Shallan killed her mother and then killed the man holding her father down. It is possible the man let her father up to go after Shallan and then her father killed him but I think that is just over complicating the scene. She seems to be finally accepting the truth here so I think we can take her at her word when she says she killed them.
  18. I believe the prologue was put up at 12:01 am est (4:01 GMT).
  19. I don't think that matters in this case, It would be like receiving a telegraph for us, you would consider it from the person that dictated it not from the telegraph operator. That said I think this is the main reason that Gavilar would NOT send the info via spanreed. He obviously kept this information very well hidden seeing that both Navani and Dalinar were unaware he ever had visions. I was just trying to point out that Mr. T's statement was not 100% proof he was at the treaty signing.
  20. I was mainly playing devils advocate, I don't really believe he would send this sort of information over spanreed, just pointing out it could be possible. I did a quick search and couldn't find any info on how long spanreeds have been around so I"m searching the books now. I vaguely remember mention of them being used when the Parshendi were first found. **update** Found it!
  21. While I agree this likely indicates he was present at the feast the existence of spanreeds means its not 100% conclusive. It is possible, however unlikely, that Galivar sent him the info via spanreed on the day he was killed.
  22. Chapter by chapter would be pretty insane to try, not only would it spam the boards but who is going to have the willpower to stop between each chapter and post!. I do like the idea of putting up a discussion for each 'book' section though I'm not sure I'd be able to use it. I would still be worried about accidental spoilers and barring natural disasters I usually devour a Sanderson book from start to finish in one sitting.
  23. It sure sounds like it @dionysus. With so many chapters coming out it would be very hard to skip a chapter and not have it spoiled anyway.
  24. Love the idea @maxal. Should we do a new post for each weeks release or just lump it all together ? Separate post sounds better to me, helps to keep it cleaner and will make it easier to people to avoid spoilers if they are behind but want to jump into the conversation.
