I will have the e-book arrive at midnight (and as I'm aussie I think it's before other countries?), read out voraciously without pause and then switch between that and the hardcopy until I finish. Then I'll read again and take notes. But my first read will be faaaast. I'm already storing zinc...

Considering I'm currently on my 5th or 6th reread of SA, I don't think reading it quickly is a bad thing. I read everything quickly though...

I am going to get it as soon as possible, but things are going to get very, very busy for me in a few months, so I am not sure how much reading I will be able to do.

I have the time right now... shame I can't use it on SL3.

I picked the second option. I spent about 3 weeks per book on the first two. I don't enjoy reading hundreds of pages in one sitting too much even if I like the book.

I'm gonna buy an e-book, download it as soon as it's available and read, read, read... Due to timezones, US midnight is somewhere before midday for me, so I'll have the whole day booked for reading

I chose the first option, but I probably won't get it right as it releases. But I will read it super fast once I do get it.

I know what I'm going to do - I will get it as soon as it comes out and read nonstop until I finish it. Then because I have way too much free time, I will read it a second time slowly right after.

I'll be getting an e-book and reading it literally everywhere. RIP my uni lectures and coursework.

And read the hardcopy at home. Have to keep it in mint condition for a while ;)

I chose none of the above because I'm a horrible person.

You choose none of the above because Beta Reader wasn't an option ;)

I live in europe, so I will order it as soon as available, but I won't receive it before a few weeks. and then I'll read as quickly as I can. You don't have that option in your poll.

By the way, since the price of an ebook is almost exclusively intellectual rights, they could (should) offer a big discount on the ebook to those that buy the paper book. buying the paper book I purchase the paper AND the right to read the book, so what sense does it make that I have to purchase the right to read the book twice? So, while I would like to participate in the release and be among the first to read and then post in this forum, I am not paying some 20+ dollars to get the ebook. Simply because I think it's unfair for the sellers to charge me the right to read the book twice.

my late november and early december will involve a lot of waiting and checing the mail box.

ah, but now he has red the book and he has to keep it all inside, no spoilers until november 14. and it will rise and bubble within him and he will try so hard to keep it inside, until it will burst.

A person exploded in the mall. while isis was first suspected, further investigation uncovered that the explosion was caused by the effort of keeping too many spoilers inside his head from a book he had beta-red. brandon sanderson has been charged with fomenting terrorism. Stay tuned for more news.

*whistles inconspicuously* Although, I'm just doing some mild teasing. Tis all in good fun, and I definitely don't want to go overboard. I just can't wait for everyone to read it! Even I haven't seen the final product yet, let alone any of the glorious glorious art :)

This would be extremely close to how I would feel if I had no one to talk to with. Thankfully my fellow readers are happy and willing outlets :)

I preordered Oathbringer somewhen in spring. Yesterday I saw that it will be delivered on November 21st. WoR was a day earlier than the official release date though, so hope dies last...

I hope to get Oathbringer sooner and during the waiting time between the 14th and the delivery date I will shun 17thshard like the devil shuns holy water. Appointments in mid-November I will move to an earlier or later time so I can grab the book and start reading without interruptions (except toilet, eating and - perhaps - sleeping).

Actually, that's a good point. Do we know if there's anything like this in place. Getting a discounted, if not free, ebook, once we've purchased a hard copy. It would make it a lot more convenient as I'm planning on getting both anyways.

The first threads to explode on the 17th shard will be funny due to the high incoherentness of people writing on sleep deprivation :P

My schedule that day is planned to be, read, read, read, eat ocassionally, sometimes wc, finish, crash in bed, sleep 24h, then 17 shard .

Audiobook purchase, and also an ebook companion this time... straight away (but not via pre-order).

I do have both for the other SA books, but I got the ebooks later.

The poll didn't quite cater for the audiobook scenario

I saw on brandon's official site's store that if you buy the hardcopy for Shadown beneath, you'll get the ebook free.

I think for ebooks, places like Amazon also charge by taking a big cut. I checked on Amazon, and they take 70 percent on self published works...

I would say that if possible and acceptable, then most people should buy directly from BS's official site.

Current plan:
The wife and I will fly to Utah around Nov. 11th or so. We will line up stupidly early on the 13th to get our pass to the midnight release. Show back up the evening of the 13th and participate in the release party. Wait hours to talk to Brandon for a minute or two (I have a Google doc with all of my questions prepped and ready haha). Proceed to the place we are staying and read. If I read uninterrupted I estimate it will take me roughly 16 hours to finish the book and I definitely plan on my first read through being as fast as possible. I will re-read this book for years to come so I will have time to savor it, dissect it, and squeeze every last theory drop out of it later.

Also, on release day I will buy the ebook and Audible edition because SA is that good. Whenever Graphic Audio puts out their version I will buy that too.

P.S. Perhaps any local Sharders/visiting Sharders could meet up sometime on Monday before the release event? I will try to remember this idea closer to the release and post it in the event's page.
