Farnsworth Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 I just got a signed copy of the leather bound Elantris (yay!) and I asked whether the earthquake was related to AU spoiler Spoiler Sel's sentience His response: nothing specifically to do with the grounds sentience. RAFO! A bit disappointing, but at least it tells us something! 10

Farnsworth Posted February 22, 2017 Author Posted February 22, 2017 It wasn't the sentient ground, it wasn't Odium, what is it? Cultivation?
Pagerunner he/him Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Relevant WoB. Might not be sentience, but still has something to do with a magical strain on the land. Possibly still connected to the Dor, even if it's not becoming sentient.
Hemalurgic Headshot he/him Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 I support the theory that the earthquake was Jaddeth. 1
AerionBFII he/him Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 It's the attempt that counts! I've never met him or been to a convention, there's always someone who has it worse Hahaha

I don't agree with her on a lot, her vision of capitalism was far too idealized and unbalanced, but I think that if you read Fountain Head or Atlas Shrugged in conjunction with liberal books or shows than you'll be far better off than if you Just read one or the other. Why limit yourself to only one point of view? Maybe the earthquake was the result of a country figuring out how to use the Dor for the first time, which caused a huge disruption in the power which manifested itself on Sel through the Elantrian earthquake? 1

Not the first time, but Wyrn was preparing to send in the recently made Dakhor against Elantris when the Reod occurred, and we are meant to learn about Dakhor in Book 2... Farnsworth Posted May 19, 2017 Author Posted May 19, 2017 I love that idea! Dakhor is powerful enough that this is definitely possible. I love the idea of one magic system destroying another, too. And about Ayn Rand, you might appreciate this... http://existentialcomics.com/philosopher/Ayn_Rand 2
WeiryWriter he/him Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 @Figberts Would you mind posting a picture of the book/wob for archival purposes? 1
