Getting vacation booked for Christmas (work is messed up this year and the conferences my mom goes to are on different dates that interfere with vacation plans for November) and it's going to be a Disney Cruise along with Disney World.

On less great news I helped my dad install a new fan and I don't know what I did but my left foot hurts so much it's painful to walk (I think it has to do with the installation since my foot started hurting the next day after wearing just socks when on the ladder)

I now own my second MST3K set, first of the actual episodes though. This is the Singles Collection containing the films: The Crawling Hand, The Hellcats, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Eegah and I Accuse My Parents along with Shorts Vol 3, which were serial films used when a film wasn't long enough to fill the time slot. Mostly this set is a reprint but the originals were singlely packaged by Rhino over 2 decades ago so it's easier to get these.

I don't check this thread for a week or two and in meantime @Kobold King and @Voidus hop back to have discussion? And then @Bleeder shows up again? Who's next? @TwiLyghtSansSparkles returns?

I also haven't heard from @Quiver for a while now. And @The Honor Spren for that matter. @Zathoth may have given up on the Shard but I enjoyed his presence. There's probably few more people from back in the day I can't remember right now

I'll probably be checking in on Twi soon. I'm hoping to be able to stop over with her for brunch when we go through her area on vacation.

Quiver's probably gotten busy and forgotten about us again. Name ping him enough times and maybe he'll pop in to tell us to knock it off. (Maybe I can summon him like Beetlejuice - @Quiver @Quiver @Quiver!)

Zathoth pings in on the Discord server now and then.

Pinging someone multiple times in the same post only alerts them once

I can't for the life of me imagine a universe where Quiver tells somebody off instead of profusely apologizing to them. Sometimes he should but I still have a hard time imagining that.

Also what a curious topic to show up when I decide to look in here again.

Seeing a bunch of the members I haven't seen in a while (and quite look up to!) pop in, even if for just a second, is making me very happy. Nice to see you guys again! :D

Also, for all us Marvel nerds out there (especially cosplaying ones), here is something you might be interested in. ;)

Sshhh! I'm trying to encourage him to be more confident!

I haven't really gone anywhere, I'm just on Discord a lot more than the Shard proper these days.

(I'm visiting Rubix and firstRainbowRose in a couple of weeks!)

Ooooooh. That's pretty freakin' sweet. I think I need this for that SHIELD cosplay I'm probably never going to create but keep daydreaming about.

Well, I was more referring to the Reckoners folks, and people like Quiver and Zathoth. I mean, you're cool too, but like you said, you're still around. ;)

Nice! Be sure to steal their cache of spikes and their mac 'n cheese recipe.

Yep. My desire to get a nice black suit just increased a thousandfold. :P Dang sleeves, though.

Hey, you never know! I've been a lot less active than I used to be! Maybe someone missed me! Or maybe I'm, like, super arrogant or something.

Perish the thought! As if I would steal from the people who volunteered so graciously to host me and my husband. Besides, spikes are for staff use only. :P

I do miss the days when I could eat mac 'n cheese with impunity.

Sleeves? What's wrong with sleeves?

Dang.
So I'm doing my Senior portfolio, where I compile stuff from high school in a binder, and I dug up some ancient referrals of mine from Kindergarten. They are fascinating. Mainly because I was kind of a mess socially, was ADHD, but they could already tell I was smart and had a bright future ahead of me if I could just control myself. I was one of the crazy kids who didn't follow instructions, so even while I was way ahead of the reading curve, I was socially super behind. I even found references to some of my favorite habits, like sneak reading, humming without realizing it, and being horrendously unorganized.
Then I found some old artwork, and it was terrifying, so I just skipped ahead to my high school stuff.
I've read my journals from the time of elementary school, and they are depressing. Fun stuff. Glad I'm almost done with school.

Sneak reading? If that is what I think it was, then I applaud you.

I am tall, with long arms. Most coats... aren't.

Most patterns have a place marked on them where you can lengthen or shorten the pattern piece. If you know about how many inches longer than the average your arms are, you can use some sew-in interfacing to create a new pattern piece to fit the length of your arm. Same thing with trouser legs - there's always a marked place for lengthening.

Book haul!!!

I went in looking for Power Rangers Volume 5 and got more than I was thinking.

I grabbed two new Doctor Who books I didn't know were coming. The first is The Day She Saved The Doctor which is about 4 times the Doctor was saved by his companions. The companions are Sarah Jane, Rose Tyler, Clara Oswald and Bill Potts. The second is The Missy Chronicles (oh Missy you're so fine you blow my mind, hey Missy, hey Missy!) featuring 6 stories starring everyone's favourite Time Lady.

Was checking out the discount shelves and found Star Wars Lost Stars for $6 and thought 'why not?'

My final purchase isn't a book but a DVD. I had noticed some MST3K DVDs and decided to grab one. I did the 25th Anniversary Edition (aka Volume 28) since it had 6 movies for $40 before discounts. The movies/episodes are Moon Zero Two, The Day The Earth Froze, The Leech Woman, Gorgo and as a bonus 'double feature' Mitchell and The Brain That Wouldn't Die.

I'm gonna be honest here... I really have no idea what half of this means or how to go about doing it in the first place. :P

Heh. Sew-in interfacing is a lightweight, stiff but see-through fabric that I often use for my patterning. I trace the originals onto the stuff so I don't have to cut (and thus destroy the other sizes of) the pattern.

As for the rest, I recommend looking up some tutorials on YouTube for how to lengthen arms and legs of patterns. They're going to explain it a lot better than I can.

I might just do that then, thanks!

Or I might get supremely frustrated and find a tailor, we'll see. :P

I've been making Pinterest-y memes of book quotes in my free time recently, so here, have a Tolkien quote in meme form. :)

Going down to Austin to visit Voodoo Doughnut. Wearing the 'gayest' thing I own since the establishment is LGBT friendly (not part of that group but a supporter)
