If I were to - hypothetically - have a Sanderson panel on a con... what would I talk about? My main area of expertise is Cosmere.

Target audience is people ranging from newcomers who do not know about Cosmere and have not read all of Cosmere, people who have read multiple series and know about Cosmere and people who have read everything and also are reading the Cosmere articles I wrote (which introduce Adonalsium, Shattering, Shards, Splinters, Slivers, Three Realms, Investiture, classification of magic systems, focuses/focii, healing... I've also analyzed Realmatically Feruchemy, Compounding and Hemalurgy; I've also covered all the worldhoppers apart from Hoid).

It can't be too advanced since newbies would get totally lost, it can't be too basic or it would be boring for advanced readers. On the other hand, it can't be too spoilery because of newcomers.
I have to talk for at least half an hour, more like 40 or 45 minutes. It can't be focused on specific series because people may have not read that one series, so it would be have to be something Cosmere-wide...

Yeah, very easy, no problems with contradictory conditions, totally fine.

I was thinking about Shardic history? Starting with Shattering, describing what we know about each Vessel (not much), a little elaboration on Intents and how they may relate to judeochristian God's Divine Attributes, explaining Investiture a little on the fly and then describing what magics have arosen from specific planets and Shards? (of course I cannot describe Scadrial too much because of its spoilery nature... Honor being dead is also kind of a big spoiler for Way of Kings, isn't it?... Describing Sel's magic is also kinda spoilery...)

I'm double posting because - totally hypothetically - I have to describe what I would be talking about in the submission I have to submit soon (it would be best if I managed to do it in three hours or in the next 24h in general).

Honestly - and I think this says more about me than it does anything else - I think I would like to hear a panel about literary themes and broader social criticism of Brandon's works, rather than exclusively world-building stuff. Explain what it is about Brandon's writings that resonate with people, what kind of impact they can have, what he means as a force within fantasy as a genre...

(Also the fact that the Cosmere is basically novel!MCU.)

...if you want an entirely in-universe thing, about the entire Cosmere? I guess a crash course on the background plot line of the series isn't a bad idea. You wouldn't need to give spoilers for it all, but you could frame it in such a way that means that people who go from the panel and start reading the books can see the easter eggs and how all the pieces fit together.

Totally out of my reach. I'm a Cosmere theoretist, I'm a TVTroper but I won't go nowhere near literary analysis. Even with ten foot Shardblade. Nope.

It's not - the level of connections and stuff is nowhere near MCU. For starters, there are no Cosmere Avengers or anything of the sort.

That's what I'm aiming at but when I look at the things I can say about background... it's either too little or too much, depending on how deep I'd go.

OMG I want Cosmere Avengers.

I believe the MCU comparison is "large immersive world with crossover characters, rules and themes."

@Oversleep I like the ideas of the three realms. They're such a fascinating, integrated idea of reality as it exists physically, in thought and in consciousness/inter-connectivity that just speaking about them 'factually' gets people not only excited about the idea, but going down they're own mental paths of thinking about philosophy, religion, perception and reality. I think it's one of the Cosmere's finest achievements, integrating magic into a solid scientific and spiritual way at the same time.

Mm...from what I've heard, though, it sounds like someday we might have something like that. At least, more connections then there are now.

There are always those crossover events like Xmen-GoTG etc etc which may come into play in MCU  (well may is a stretch XD).

Huh, that's weird. Well, I'll sob violently in a corner about it later.

Don't be sad, necromancy is not good for your health. You'll feel better without it ;)

my boss was suspiciously nice and he's now gone home. Coworkers are nice and there's a bunch of new people today. And because of all that drama, I have less lessons that usual so more breaks. Im ok. -_-

@Captains Domon what thread were you trying to resurrect, and is your disembodied self now stuck in a set of armour?
