Oathbringer he/him
Let's assume that you're either a full feruchemist or mist born, which do you want more? I think I'd go with feruchemy, storing some attributes would be amazing, mental speed, healing, speed, etc.
Shardbearer he/him
I think feruchemy for me too.
Plaeggs he/him
Feruchemy, even if only for the storing of attributes (heat, weight, etc.).
Who Sharded?
I've thought about this before, and I'd choose Feruchemy. I tend to not like to use up resources, for one thing.
RShara she/her
Feruchemy. I think it'd be more useful in everyday life. Allomancy is handy in a lot of ways, but seems very combat oriented. It'd be good for soldiers though, for sure.
ChickenPlague he/him
Allomancy. I am very impatient and wouldn't be able to store a lot.

Pathfinder
I still find myself in the allomancy camp. Living in New York means I have all the metal I will ever need to fly around and not have to be crammed amongst the crowds to get where I want to go. There are metal supply stores where you can buy a brick of metal, so just make sure it is the right alloy, save up, buy a brick of each metal, and use a file. Each brick would probably last me years. Pewter accomplishes for me what Feruchemical gold, Feruchemical pewter, and Feruchemical steel do (though to much lesser extents) enough that I would be happy with a nice burn whenever I am sick, need to move my stuff, or jog on over somewhere and I wouldn't need downtime to store. fyodor
In the real world or some sort of fantasy adventure? Do other people know you have powers? Sooting/rioting would probably be the most useful real world abilities, assuming no one knew that you had them.
Green Hoodie Mistborn he/him
I'm with ChickenPlague - I'm too impatient to store attributes for Feruchemy, so full Mistborn for me. With maybe a couple of Feruchemically charged spikes... to get the compounding effects so I can be lazy AND have a full metalmind!

Makes sense. I've always thought Spiderman would be one of the most fun superheroes to be, but only in a big city like New York.
Voidus
Depends if it's in our current lives or in a Mistborn setting, Feruchemy is awesome and all but somewhat less useful for modern life, though being able to store warmth in an Australian summer would be awesome. It's not very often that I need to run 10x faster or be 10x stronger, mental speed could arguably be useful but that's the one attribute that I would have trouble storing since my brain tends to like being all on all the time.On the other hand Allomantic pewter provides additional strength and speed at a reasonable level as well as endurance and balance which would probably suit me more, Bendalloy can provide much the same effect as Feruchemical steel can if needed and Iron and Steel let you bloody fly. Oversleep
I see people never think about other issues with Metallic Art in our world. Feruchemist, you start wearing rings, bracelets and much of other stuff. Mistborn, you need to find perfect alloys constantly.I'd pick Feruchemy, I already spend like two hours each day in public communication. I can store everything (apart form breath, I suppose. People would give me funny looks if I start hyperventilating.).Also, I love Feruchemical bronze. Sleep all you want during holidays and then you stop falling asleep in classes.Modern human spends... how much time sitting? Listening to the lecturers/working, doing homework, commuting, watching TV. You can easily store strenght, speed, weight, warmth, fortune and connection (no idea how aluminum or nicrosil works). While commuting also senses, mental speed and determination.Copper is always super useful. Super memorization skills? Yes, please.Gold could be troublesome. hoidhunter he/him
I've always been in the feruchemy camp. In my everyday life there's just more times that I'd need to...say...eat all the leftover food and store the nutrition in bendalloy to save money vs. throw handfuls of pennies like bullets. I've got an 18 month old at home...and I can't tell you how bad I wish I had been able to store up and extra 1 or 2 hours of sleep each night while my wife was pregnant...vs...burning pewter to stave off exhaustion and getting all pewter draggy... Also...I think that storing attributes wouldn't be as difficult as some people think. I work a desk job...and would have no issues with storing strength constantly while at work. Like many other people on the forum (I assume) I read a lot as well (and books on cd are always fun) things like physical speed and strength, hearing, etc. really wouldn't be tough to store while binging a sanderson novel. Then...you have the things that are useful either way...in the 1st world, being able to store away excess nutrition from the food you eat would be a great way to keep a healthy diet. Storeing weight would often be more useful that tapping it. Being able to store heat when you're too hot and tap it when you're too cold would give you a free and perfect environmental control system. Not to mention: EDIT: decided to delete this spoiler While allomancy certainly has some awsome and exciting applications for real life...I think feruchemy is the pragmatic choice. Besides...I really just want to go out for a week of back country camping carrying a small pouch of metalminds as my only supplies and laugh as my friends lug around 100lb framed packs! natc
Being able to control my wakefulness or overeat without too many repercussions is too useful for me. That, and I can probably store speed now and again while reading SA books. That somewhat overpowered ability is always good to have.
hoidhunter he/him
And most people only focus on the physical and mental metals...feruchemy allows you to do some wild stuff once you get into the spiritual metals...we know very little about them...but if you've read BoM...you know what I mean. Feruchemist, you start wearing rings, bracelets and much of other stuff. Mistborn, you need to find perfect alloys constantly. Maybe I am lucky to be living in New York, but I was able to find three metallurgic shops near me (within train or car distance). Alloying a solid bar of a metal, without needing to shape it for more of the common metals is not a big deal. So as I said in my post, save up, get a bar made, and shave off with a file. A bar should easily last me years.
EdroGrimshell
Feruchemy all the way. It's a godsend in the modern world, plus I love systems that have an inherent resource management.
ChickenPlague he/him
Ok I am beginning to think that Feruchemy might be better. I can store strength when storing weight I think without major consequences.
Navy Seon he/him
Even taking out atium, i think that the fun and advantage of pushing/pulling and speed bubbles and taking away investiture are just clear wins. Plus no downside of being sick. Dont get me wrong, feruchemy is great and has its own stregnths, but allomancy kicks it for me. Plus i am a guy and i cant imagine wearing tons of jewelry.
Stormgate he/him
Allomancy, by definition, requires a continuous supply of metals. Also, if this is in our world, nicrosil and chromium Allomancy are fairly useless. Feruchemy can't make speed bubbles, but the only practical advantage they have over speed Feruchemy is that you can live a lot longer by having a suspended-animation cadmium bubble. So I choose Feruchemy, since it has considerable benefits over Allomancy and I have a budget.
Lord Aldric
It really depends on a couple of things: does anyone else have it as well, or are you the only one in the real world, and are you letting everyone know you have it, or are you being subtle with it? If you want to fly around New York City stopping crime like a superhero then allomancy is clearly superior as there's no recharge needed, metal is fairly cheap, and you'll be able to use things like coin jumping and lurching to the top of skyscrapers. On the other hand, if the idea is to keep it a secret advantage then feruchemy solves a lot more real-life everyday problems. Furthermore, once you're at the top of the business world or whatever your goal is you can enjoy it a lot more... you could eat wonderful, large, fatty meals and just store most of the calories into your bendalloy bracers. Brass metalminds would allow you to always be more comfortable in hot places and, if anything is stored, in cold places as well. Just live somewhere where it's hot more than it's cold and you'll always be comfortable. I'd also be the guy that has somewhat bad luck most evenings but for a few hours while in that casino... Finally, the most useful for real life might be copper. Not only would you be able to remember anything you had to remember, but if something tragic happened that you just couldn't deal with you could also selectively lose memories and deal with them a little at a time. Even gold would help a lot. Yeah, you have to be sick for a time to store health, but unlike poor Wayne, I'm unlikely to get shot twenty or thirty times a month, so my stores would last longer. Instead of being very sick for a few weeks, you could be slightly under the weather for a while and eventually save up enough for any emergency situation. Mainly, I think in real life the use would be to heal from a bad sickness like pneumonia or something. Strength is the only thing you couldn't really use because of the body changing size obviously, unless you had two sets of friends, your day friends who think you're the strongest gym rat in history and your night friends who think you're basically a starvation survivor. Copper is arguably the most useful ability but even so without the extensive memorization techniques practiced by Keepers you're not going to get near as much out of it. natc
I'd say being able to bullet time for someone working a desk job or something and has time to store would at least make it harder to be late to things somewhat. Heat is good for those regions with high temperature variance between seasons. Wakefulness and gold speak for themselves. Nutrition to never get fat.
