I know I'm a bit late, but Twi, for fantastic beasts of America left out of the book, there's the Thunderbird from Pacific northwestern Native American mythology. Bringer of storms. Super awesome. There's a whole lot of Native American mythology that could be incorporated into the Potterverse, really. It's a shame there aren't more books with them included.

I was going to add Thunderbirds to the list of American beasts. Here's what I have so far:

Wand Core Beasts

Beasts whose hair, feathers, etc. provide wand cores suitable for magic, comparable to the three substances (unicorn hair, dragon heartstring, and phoenix feather) used by Ollivander

Sasquatch: THIS IS NOT A YETI, SCAMANDER. Did you even look at anything past the New York state line? Sasquatches, often called Bigfoot by Muggles, are tall, apelike creatures that walk upright. Native to Oregon, Washington, and the forests of California, Sasquatches are notably shy creatures, fond of watching Muggles and wizards alike from a distance. Many a Washington Muggle will recall a camping trip where they noticed a tall, apelike shadow peering out at them from behind a tree; or a supply that was misplaced; or giant footprints along the path. Sasquatches more often approach wizards, usually to present them with a gift of braided hair to be used as a wand core.

Thunderbird: Opinions differ as to whether thunderbirds cause storms or are merely part of storms. To be sure, a Thunderbird won't be found in every storm, because not every storm possesses magical properties. But when a storm does bring odd phenomena, know that Thunderbirds were there, riding the winds and causing thunder with each flap of their wings. Their feathers are collected after such storms or—much more rarely—presented to a wand maker as a gift. Said wand maker must be wary not to provoke the Thunderbird's famous temper.

Piasa bird: Europe has its native dragons; America has the Piasa bird. Little is known of this reclusive creature's behavior (because Twi hasn't thought about it much yet ) but like the Thunderbird, its feathers make powerful wand cores.

Non-wand core beasts:

Hodag

Jersey devil

Chupacabra

Gowrow

Jackalope

I'll add others later, but that's what I have so far.

So there's a political compass quiz floating around online, that plots your political leanings on a four-quadrant graph.

Don't tell my parents, but.....

....I got Left-Libertarian.

Do you have a link? Wouldn't mind seeing this.

I won't tell.

I've been working with packing material today, and it's gotten everywhere.  I'm getting my layers trimmed tonight after work.  So now I get to explain to my stylist why I have fragments of styrofoam peanuts clinging to my hair.

My results: https://www.politicalcompass.org/analysis2?ec=-5.75&soc=-5.85

The site itself is politicalcompass.org.

Your secret is safe with me.

(also, more proof that we are brain-sisters)

I can help you make up a story about the Great Styrofoam Peanut War, if you want.:P

This is getting eerie. Not bad, just eerie.

There would be no winners in that war.  None.  Styrofoam peanuts are a plague upon the land.

Hee!  If it makes you feel better, I've taken that thing before and I think I'm a wee bit further left than you are.

I am shocked - shocked, I say - that your dot isn't exactly on the lower left-hand corner.

Hmm...looks like I'm about the same as Twi.

Which is interesting because the last time I took this test a few years back, I was almost at the center with a slight shift to the right.

I was actually kind of surprised with how far left I am...I expected to be right of center. Guess I'm full of surprises. :P

That's what happens when you lose your religion...you end up in a corner, you end up in a spot...light and...oh no, I've said too much!
