Though it does make you wonder why he doesn't know what cats, boats, or water are.

Even among purebloods, this man's family was considered... extreme in its shunning of all things remotely Muggle. :P

As everyone knows, they bathe only in the finest Pumpkin Juice and he's always thought Crookshanks was merely a large rat.

So are carrots....edible wands? And most importantly, is Tedward's family admired among purebloods or just considered idiots?

They are considered to have ascended to a higher existence of non-Muggleness that all admire but few would be willing to follow. When Tedward left to get a normal Muggle job, they all willingly obliviated themselves so as to never remember the shame he brought upon the family. And then they obliviated his memories of them too, the poor dear. :P

I feel so proud of myself. I went to the new Star Wars movie. Dressed like a Jedi. I even had a lightsaber. I got a lot of stares, but it felt AWESOME!

Though, the rest of my family wasn't dressed up... <_<

And here I thought I would be dressing up by wearing a shirt with Jedi Narwhals on it . . .

Sounds fun. :D

That and I'm just flat out easily distracted.

So . . . I sacrificed to Lark's paint gods today.

Edit: Storm it, the picture's sideways. Can't fix that . . .

Gak. Why is everyone so good at art? If I sacrifice to the art gods then I might be able to draw a straight line... maybe.

Nice artwork, Honor.

If it helps, I'm pretty carp at drawing, which is pretty awful when I'm trying to sketch out costume ideas.  I could probably manage Wayne stick figures that didn't look too bad, but anything more complicated than that is complete pants.

Well Lark, while I agree with you that the update to Silk looks awful, it is keeping me from accidental downvotes, so that's one positive. On the not so bright side, it keeps changing the shard to mobile version.

HAHAH i was gonna paste a pic of the "graphic design is my passion" meme into here but then amazon silk wouldn't let me and I feel like that speaks louder than the meme.

In my city, there's a downtown district called Winterhaven. Everyone who lives there is required to decorate their homes and yards in December, and while there are a few people who do the bare minimum to avoid a fine (yeah, Winterhaven is a little harsh about the holiday cheer) most people go all-out. The entire neighborhood is lit up with electric lights, each yard painting a different glowing picture. One house this year even had a live instrumental band covering Christmas carols. All through December, people from all over clog the streets as they admire the shows. Many people bring their dogs along.

This year, I was one of those people.

My parents brought Mollie and I took Bruce, hoping to socialize him and teach him to stop barking at strangers. The instant he was spotted, he became the most popular dog in Winterhaven. University students wanted to take his picture. Kids wanted to pet him. Parents wanted to say hello.

Bruce was a little nervous at first. I think he found all of the sights, sounds and smells overwhelming, even after he got used to them. But once the nerves wore off and he stopped barking at everyone, he rushed around, straining at the leash so he could say hello to everyone. He marveled at the lights, and when he came to a yard that had colored bulbs on the lawn, he tried to pick one up and take it along. He'd ask me to carry him every so often, but this was only so he could rest up and strain at the leash more efficiently when I set him on the ground.

When we got back to the car, he laid right down on my arm and went to sleep, purring all the way home.

A District where you have to decorate your home? Sounds a bit weird.

Is it anything like this?

Yes, but instead of being one family doing it on their own, it's the modus operandi for the entire neighborhood. If you move to Winterhaven, you know up front that you'll be decorating your yard every year. Of course, they also give out prizes for the best houses in different categories, so there's incentive there too.

Is there a Category for 'Most Wanted Dog' that you could win?

I wish. :P Seriously, though, some of the other categories are ridiculous enough. One house won the "Best Use of Balls" award.

I think that award should win the "Freud Was Right" award, but that's probably why I'm not in charge.
