Green Hoodie Mistborn he/him Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Alcatraz Vs. the Dark Talent has a publication date! June 2016, finally! Can't wait to read this one 2
WeiryWriter he/him Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Alcatraz Vs. the Dark Talent has a publication date! June 2016, finally! Can't wait to read this one I'd say that was pretty minor compared to the other thing revealed in that article. I.e. the fantastic cover art by Scott Brundage: Edit: and the synopsis too: Alcatraz Smedry has successfully defeated the army of Evil Librarians and saved the kingdom of Mokia. Too bad he managed to break the Smedry Talents in the process. Even worse, his father is trying to enact a scheme that could ruin the world, and his friend, Bastille, is in a coma. To revive her, Alcatraz must infiltrate the Highbrary–known as The Library of Congress to Hushlanders–the seat of Evil Librarian power. Without his Talent to draw upon, can Alcatraz figure out a way to save Bastille and defeat the Evil Librarians once and for all? 1
Left he/him Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I'm so psyched its finally announced!! Been waiting a long time for this one. I guess I like the cover. Alcatraz covers are so ridiculous in general, so I guess I like that Tor kept the theme but gave it more style.
STINK he/him Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Now why would someone have a teddy bear?
Paranoid King he/him Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 At last! That cliffhanger was THE WORST. Now I'll only have to wait a year to read it. The cover is a little off to me, though, for a two reasons: Where did alcatraz get the sword? He broke his last one. Well, last few. By which I mean every one he ever touched. and, more importantly, Why is Kaz so tall? By reading the book, I thought he was short. Alcatraz has been deceiving us this whole time.
+Slowswift Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I'm... actually kinda ticked off at the fact that it's called "Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians: The Dark Talent" instead of "Alcatraz vs the Dark Talent".
Left he/him Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Just realized....there's an alter of encyclopedias in the far central background. .... 3
Green Hoodie Mistborn he/him Posted September 26, 2015 Author Posted September 26, 2015 I'm... actually kinda ticked off at the fact that it's called "Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians: The Dark Talent" instead of "Alcatraz vs the Dark Talent". Me too, if I had to bet, when they re-release books 1-4, they will all be "vs. the Evil Librarians: <whatever that book's title is>", but The Dark Talent sounds cool still.
+Slowswift Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 (edited) Me too, if I had to bet, when they re-release books 1-4, they will all be "vs. the Evil Librarians: <whatever that book's title is>", but The Dark Talent sounds cool still. Yes, but... It wasn't enough to completely redesign the covers, thus prompting eye-twitching every time I look at my shelf, they HAD TO RENAME THE BOOKS TOO?! [/angry outburst] Edited September 26, 2015 by Slowswift 1
WeiryWriter he/him Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Me too, if I had to bet, when they re-release books 1-4, they will all be "vs. the Evil Librarians: <whatever that book's title is>", but The Dark Talent sounds cool still. Peter has confirmed that this is the case on Twitter.
The Honor Spren she/her Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Well I only have one thing to say. Here it is. . . Are you ready??? *Fangirl squees of delight*!! It's coming. It's coming! It's finally here!!!!!! 1
WeiryWriter he/him Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 At last! Well given what happened at the end of Book 4 any sword he picks up is probably safe from that fate (for a little while at least). Also the tall guy in the top hat isn't Kaz, the guy holding the teddy bear is.
Paranoid King he/him Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Ah. I thought the short one was Aydee. I couldn't figure out why Kaz would be holding a teddy bear.
Mestiv he/him Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Is the tall girl standing in the middle Bastille? If yes, than she's grow quite tall and... evil looking
WeiryWriter he/him Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Is the tall girl standing in the middle Bastille? If yes, than she's grow quite tall and... evil looking I'm guessing that's actually Bastille's mother, since the blurb says that Bastille is in a coma.
WeiryWriter he/him Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Scott Brundage, the cover artist for the new Alcatraz covers just posted the full wraparound image on his twitter, and it's pretty awesome: 2
STINK he/him Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 I like the skull torches, very atmospheric.
Paranoid King he/him Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Well, skull torches are more technologically advanced than lightbulbs. It's a wonder more people haven't switched to using them. 1
WeiryWriter he/him Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 And Brandon just confirmed that the altar in the background is THE altar. 2
Dymphna Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Went to get the first book as a gift from Barns & Nobel and it was not available. Will not be available until February. Must have to do with the change in art.
Angsos Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I'm just glad Alcatraz gets his date with the alter
Iarwainiel I she/her Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Am I the only one who looked at the (excellent!) cover artwork and was reminded of the Ways from WoT? CaNOT wait for this book!!!! 1
