bartbug he/him Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Buy, because of Dalinar's Highprince of War. Shadows of Silence in the Forests of Hell will show us the Investiture of either a new Shard or Odium.
Dysphoric Kitten she/her Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 (edited) Buy. We can't get one of the shards we know, so we must get someone else. (SoSiFoH is in a new world, right?) A viewpoint will commit suicide this decade. (Kel-type suicides do not count, only ones of despair or something like that) (FYI, I strongly disagree with anyone contemplating suicide. It just feels that if he lets characters suicide, they should not do it from altruism. At least not all the time) Edited December 8, 2013 by Tal Spektor
FeatherWriter she/her Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Eugh, sell. Viewpoint suicides are not something I want to be reading about. I like my stories to be about characters overcoming their problems and growing as people into stronger and better characters. Suicide is not a "solution" I want to see any character come to, viewpoint or not. The only suicidal situation I would want to see is one like Kaladin's, where he comes to the point of suicide out of despair but comes back from it and realizes life is still worth living. Those are the kinds of stories I want to read. (And I have a feeling that those are the kinds of stories that Brandon likes to write.) And, yeah, while Kell's death could technically be interpreted as "suicide," the motivations behind it were definitely more of a "heroic self-sacrifice" and "martyrdom for the cause" rather than giving up on life and succumbing to despair. So you're right in that Kell doesn't really count. Buy or Sell: Danlan Morakotha will have a much larger role to play than we have seen thus far. (A girl can hope for some more important female characters, can't she?) 2
Mailliw73 he/him Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Buy, I believe it, whether or not I like her all that much. We will see horneater culture up close in the Horneater peaks sometime in the series.
WeiryWriter he/him Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 (edited) Buy, I believe it, whether or not I like her all that much. We will see horneater culture up close in the Horneater peaks sometime in the series. Buy We will see it, but it will be in an Interlude. Edited December 2, 2013 by Ookla the Indubitable
FeatherWriter she/her Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Also buy. A new character in SA will talk to Hoid while he's out of his "Wit" persona. (So, I'd say Kaladin and... maybe Dalinar are probably excluded from this.)
Aether he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Buy. But I mostly just want him to speak with Shallan in his Wit persona. Tarah is still alive and comes to screw around with Kaladin's new life when Amaram arrives.
FeatherWriter she/her Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I'll sell that one actually. I get the feeling Tarah's dead. Part of Kaladin's whole "I survive when no one else does, I get everyone around me killed." Besides, I think the Kaladin/Amaram reunion will be conflicted enough without throwing in another heated old relationship. Kaladin will find out Amaram's going to be around before Amaram finds out that Kaladin's around.

Kaladin will find out Amaram's going to be around before Amaram finds out that Kaladin's around. I don't know, Feather. He does remark that his "failing with her was somewhat different from the others" or something (I don't have my book with me right now). I have a feeling she's still alive. At least I hope so. Um, I am unsure whether or not I should put buy or sell here, because Kaladin already knows that Amaram is going to be around as one of his Bridge-men (might have been Skar or Sigzil) said he was on his way to the Plains. When Amaram gets to the plains, Kaladin will flip out and try to attack him, but his fellow former Bridge-men will somehow talk him out of it.
Scriptorian he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) Buy, and then Kaladin will have some stupid moral dilemma choosing between freedom and revenge. And for some stupid reason he won't explain to Dalinar what Amaram did, leading to a huge mess of mis-communication. (I bet that stealing shards could legitimately get someone, even a lighteyes, executed, the problem is that it's still just Amaram's word against Kaladin's) Edit: HEY! That's the first time I've been ninjad! Edited December 3, 2013 by Ookla the Serendipitous
Aether he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Is it just me or does Amaram actually seem like a decent guy (especially for an Alethi Brightlord) that just got thoroughly off course? I am sort of hoping there is a possibility of redemption for him, even though what he did is completely baffling and unforgivable.
Shardbearer he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Is it just me or does Amaram actually seem like a decent guy (especially for an Alethi Brightlord) that just got thoroughly off course? I am sort of hoping there is a possibility of redemption for him, even though what he did is completely baffling and unforgivable. I'll buy that, since the previous poster didn't have anything to buy/sell. Danlan is actually a spy or agent for the Ghostbloods.
Scriptorian he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) Umm...Buy? My impression was that he was at least somewhat genuine, but he apparently wasn't entrenched in his values enough to resist the temptation of the shards. To me, he actually seems rather similar to Mr. T. Sort of well intentioned, but completely misguided. Syl will have a very interesting conversation with the Symbolheads if/when they meet. Edit: Dang it! How do you do that?! I even reloaded that page before I posted to make sure no one else had posted anything! Edited December 3, 2013 by Ookla the Serendipitous
Aether he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 That's just uncanny, Windrunner. Ninja for the first and second time two posts in a row! Sell. I don't really think there would be much interesting interaction between them. Now, pardon me for almost blatantly copy-catting you: Syl will have a very interesting conversation with Wyndle if/when they meet.
Shardbearer he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Oh so now we skipped over my idea because I got ninja'd? Boo.
Aether he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Oh so now we skipped over my idea because I got ninja'd? Boo. Sorry. Sell, because I really want her to be genuine. Now, back to me ripping off Windrunner's (currently "Ookla the Serendipitous") idea.
Shardbearer he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Sell. The last 5 books of the SA is when the Cosmere will start to have a bigger role in the main plot.
FeatherWriter she/her Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (OoG: Psst, Aether. Windy's still Windrunner. Ookla the Serendipitious is "Serendipity." Windy hasn't been in here for a bit. Also, you can recognize Windy by his INDECENTLY HUGE amount of rep. *grumbles in jealousy*)
Mailliw73 he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Buy, it already is leaning towards that. Marsh will somehow die before the third trilogy on Scadrial
bartbug he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) Sell. Aw, heck no. At least, as long as Harmony is still in charge. The God Beyond is the survival Shard Edited December 3, 2013 by Ookla the Imagined no swearing please 3
Scriptorian he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) (Out of game: Aether, not sure whether to take that as a complement or not...Anyway my name's back now. *Also grumbles in jealousy of Windy's rep.) Edit: Hey! I wasn't ninjad! Edited December 3, 2013 by Serendipity
Windrunner he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Sell. Aw, heck no. At least, as long as Harmony is still in charge. The God Beyond is the survival Shard Buy... That is a marvelous idea. Upvote for you. The Shadows for Silence planet will appear in the third Mistborn trilogy in some way. (OoG: Psst, Aether. Windy's still Windrunner. Ookla the Serendipitious is "Serendipity." Windy hasn't been in here for a bit. Also, you can recognize Windy by his INDECENTLY HUGE amount of rep. *grumbles in jealousy*) (OoG: Yeah, I was too busy, and then too lazy, and then too late to play along this year)
Mailliw73 he/him Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (OoG: wait, what is this survival shard? Did Brandon say something about there being a survival shard?)
Kurkistan he/him Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 (OoG: wait, what is this survival shard? Did Brandon say something about there being a survival shard?) Specifically, "There is one who just wants to hide and survive." 1
Aether he/him Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 [Out of Game] (OoG: Psst, Aether. Windy's still Windrunner. Ookla the Serendipitious is "Serendipity." Also, you can recognize Windy by his INDECENTLY HUGE amount of rep. *grumbles in jealousy*) (Out of game: Aether, not sure whether to take that as a complement or not...Anyway my name's back now. *Also grumbles in jealousy of Windy's rep.) Edit: Hey! I wasn't ninjad! I would normally have known that. There is a bug, though, where the "Edited by [...]" line from older posts cites the name the poster had when it was edited last, not the current one. I've been using it to find the real name-tags behind the "Ookla" one, and Serendipity has an old post which says "Edited by Windrunner". I just thoughtlessly copied that. Sorry for the confusion, guys! [/Out of Game] Hmm... Buy, because that would be awesome. Rysn will be one of the future focus characters for the Stormlight Archive.
