Mistrunner Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Attacks in Paris. Sigh It's truly awful; I hate it when these things happen. I can't understand how people can justify that- how so many people can. Why can't people get along?
Briar King Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 It's truly awful; I hate it when these things happen. I can't understand how people can justify that- how so many people can. Why can't people get along? Yep I feel sorry for Millenniuals(my 2 kids) cause they have truly never know a Earth without relative peace. 80's kids(me) are the last to have spent their teen yrs 93-01 with a mostly stable Earth imo. As for why we can't get along idk. It's stupid and I think the only thing that would make it happen is aliens. Maybe humans would appreciate humans then. 3
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Yeah, I haven't really known that. Very soon after I was born, 9/11 happened. It was the reason my dad joined the military (well, he speaks Arabic, has a law degree and a degree in Middle Eastern studies, how could he not?). The more I read about what happened in Paris the more I'm horrified by what happened. How. How could someone do this. How. And the more I read the more shocked I am that people can take an attack that happened today- today! to advance their political views and attack everyone else's. People on all sides are childishly throwing their opinions at each other and ignoring the fact that people died. Please. Be respectful. Give us some time to grieve, for heavens' sake. Why do you think I'm so disillusioned with politics? There's a fine line between wanting to make sure a similar tragedy doesn't happen again, and using a tragedy as a chance to trumpet your own political agenda, and so far I have not seen a single politician on either side of the aisle who does the former without straying quickly into the latter. 3
Briar King Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 That's sadly the name of the game ever since actual civilation began.
azninvasion99 he/him Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Yeah this was sad news to wake up to. Everytime one of these attacks happen I get flashbacks of 9/11. I had recorded the soccer game that had been going on in Paris and you can hear one of the explosions going off on the telecast. Just insane, this world we live in.

ONly for me, it's flashbacks of COlumbine.
Kasimir he/him Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 It's news that makes me feel really sad. I heard about it as I was preparing to hit the sack. At the same time, I want to carefully say it gives me a sense of perspective. I agree with the people who've been reminding us to keep perspective: what happened in Paris is horrible. It is a tragedy. And a similar tragedy went off in Beirut, with 40 killed and 200 injured. Another bomb went off in Thailand. I think it's just a reminder to myself: if I am to be horrified, to feel sympathy, it should not just be for Paris. If we consider this an attack on humanity, then there are very many attacks on humanity that happened on this same day. And they should all be causes for horror. Heart definitely goes out to those in these places and their families :/ 2
Kobold King he/him Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Darn it guys. We're going to have to start a new thread for global tragedies and mourning, because now I'd feel crass for posting on this thread about the itchy throat I woke up with this morning. 4
Delightful Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Is anyone on the Shard French? Is everyone ok?
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Is anyone on the Shard French? Is everyone ok? I'm pretty far from Paris right now, but I've been reading the reports and hoping the numbers are wrong.
Delightful Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 (edited) It's not just the numbers. It's that we live in a world were some people thing it's ok, even praiseworthy, to massacre others because they disagree with you or for just no reason at all. It's not just France. Millions have been killed in Syria, ISIS is slaughtering Christians across the Middle East, Israelis are being stabbed daily to the point that it's 'almost' not news anymore, North Koreans are stuck in terrible concentration camps goodness knows what else is happening that I'm unaware of and this world needs fixing. Desperately. If only I knew how. *hugs and love and good thoughts* That's the best I can do right now. Edited November 14, 2015 by Delightful 4

Orlion Blight he/him Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Darn it guys. We're going to have to start a new thread for global tragedies and mourning, because now I'd feel crass for posting on this thread about the itchy throat I woke up with this morning. I hear yeah, but since such a thread does not exist, I'll be the crass one, and everyone else after me will be fine, since I was first and crass. I'm a true American hero So I was wanting to play Smash Bros, but it wasn't in it's box. My desires have been frustrated, and I don't know what choices I made in the past that set me on this dire path. 1
Kasimir he/him Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 ...Just realised this argument I've been working on over the past few days doesn't work. The paper is due at midnight tonight, Stormfather help me... :/ 1

Silverblade5 he/him Posted November 14, 2015 Author Posted November 14, 2015 Imagine a wooden frame that was built with 2 foot long cylinders that were about 6 inches in diameter, and was 3 blocks high. One such frame fell on me today, hitting me right in the center of the calf. 1

Delightful Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 The world is a terrible place and I don't feel like dealing with it today. Someone tell me happy things. Please. 4
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 The world is a terrible place and I don't feel like dealing with it today. Someone tell me happy things. Please. I pulled Bruce onto my bed at some random hour this morning (6, I think) and he immediately curled up right next to me, head on my stomach, and went to sleep. He stayed that way until I got out of bed. Two hours. 4
