Long Game 14: To Shatter a Shard

Oh, the game confused you? I only vaguely follow that. I was talking about the subtext.

It's a game from Warbreaker, but its rules have never been explained. So I made up my own.

@paranoid king. The inversion Sphere just multiplies a score by -1, the void zone's score is always zero.

Maybe I'll post the full rules later on.

Thanks for the writeup! It was quite informative, and the Night was certainly not a waste.

Well you are a voice inside my head, so that's completely understandable.

Over the last couple days, I've been looking over the players who haven't been scanned and aren't Shards, trying to find potential OC's. I've also been looking for connections players might have to Alv/Hael.

Right now, my eye is mostly directed on Eol. I believe he is an OC for a couple of different reasons.

1. On Day 1, I was rather careless with my identity, and it wasn't long before multiple rumors were abound that I was Cultivation. Kipper and Seonid both helped spread some misinformation and circulate other rumors about Cultivation's identity, with some rumors stating it was Orlok, some saying it was Dow, and others saying it was Eol. After Eol requested his PM with me, a couple people guessed, purely by luck, that I was Cultivation due to a misread of the rules. After I asked for protection in the thread, Eol asked me in our PM if there was a reason for that, maybe because I had an important role? I hedged a bit, and then I confessed that since his request, people thought I was Cultivation, so I talked to the real Cultivation and we decided that it would be good for me to cover for her, in hopes that the OC's would think that I was Cultivation and they'd hit me expecting to kill Cultivation but instead, they would fail because I am not.

Now, when I told Eol this, I didn't know that he was an OC. Not by any means. I sort of hoped he would be, because I really wanted this story to get back to them so they'd see all this evidence that seems to indicate that I'm Cultivation and they'd think that it was just part of the cover. And they wouldn't attack me.

If you recall, in Alv's defense of himself, he said that he knew on the first cycle that I was Cultivation. Well, if he knew that, why didn't I die? Why did Orlok die? I already said before that I think Orlok was attacked because the OC's thought he was Cultivation and not because they knew he was Devotion. I'm even more certain about this now, because the only people who knew Orlok's true role are good. I know they are. So therefore, Orlok's attack was either planned or a random hit, but a random hit is incredibly unlikely since there is literally no reason why Orlok would've been attacked over someone like me, Kipper, Maill, or a number of other players. Yes, Orlok is a threat, but there are bigger threats. There had to've been a reason for them to attack him, and I'm convinced that that reason was because they thought he was Cultivation. But Alv was convinced that I was Cultivation.

I think Eol relayed my story to them, and when they heard it, it worked exactly as I'd intended, at least in reference to me. They saw the evidence and figured it was just me working with Cultivation to make it look like I was Cultivation to draw fire. So they started looked at who I might be covering for and they landed on Orlok, unfortunately.

This is the only explanation that really makes sense about why Orlok was attacked and I wasn't, considering that Alv was an OC and he knew my role (and he had every reason to know my role considering how many PMs I'd put him in).

2. In the first 2 hours of the game, I ordered 5 mini PMs and 1 Mass PM. One of those mini, 3-person PMs contained Hael, Alv, and Eol. My reason for this PM was due to timezones since Eol and Hael are Aussies and Alv is a New Zealander. I figured it would be good to put those three together rather than throw them into different PMs with a bunch of Americans. A couple cycles later, when I made the rest of the one-on-one PMs with the remainder of the players, the only thing Hael wanted to talk about was my method and reasoning in creating the PMs. This is actually what struck me as suspicious with him. It seemed to me like he was just wanting to talk about something that was entirely irrelevant rather than talking about actually relevant topics.

But what if he wasn't? What if he was genuinely curious because somehow, in the first 2 hours of the game, I created a PM with three eliminators in it. And they were the only people in this PM. The odds of that happening are insane, particularly since I only requested 5 mini PMs that night. If all three of them are actually OC's, it's no wonder Hael was curious about my reasoning. I'd be asking the same thing in his position.

Obviously, both of these are just circumstantial evidence, but I feel they point rather heavily toward Eol being an OC. If he is, I'm betting he's an Unmade, though that's just a guess. I also have some other players that I'm watching, though I'm still collecting evidence on them, so I'll refrain from mentioning them for now. A few people know in case something happens to me. But anyway, yeah. I'm rather convinced that Eol is an OC.

Hey, I'm right here. You could, you know, ask me questions. :P

I mean, you're convinced I'm Odium, right? If you asked nicely, I might even give you answers!

Unmade are no longer called that. They're called Osterhagen Key's.

Ah, yes. What was I thinking? I think I was still broken up about having my PR agent turn on me so horrendously. *sigh*

Lord Odium, would you enlighten me as to your purpose for questioning me about my methods in creating PM groups?

Also, might you free the rest of your followers so we can show them the light? The darkness and hate they live in must be stifling, and I'm sure they'd like to see some sun. I can't imagine that being constantly consumed with odious thoughts makes their existence worthwhile, and if you were truly seeking pure hatred of everyone, what better way to obtain it than by rejecting those who only seek to follow you? By maintaining your hold on them, it shows your hand--that being that you care about them. But the Lord of Hate can't care, can he? :P

Right, right. I assume there are at least two more, then? I hear you need at least three to successfully blow up a world. Does the Osterhagen Key have a teleportation ability that lets them flit between stations to arm them?

I've got a Song Parody that references that. Sorta. Maybe I need to do another one, to do it properly.

Genuine curiosity. I made comments in each of the PM's you opened with me in it about the number of puzzling PM groups I was in. But then, if I were Cultivation, there would not likely have been very many PM's at all. So it was probably a good thing I wasn't Cultivation.

Oh, the Lord of Hate most definitely cares. I'm the Lord of Hate. Not the Lord of Apathy. Unless you mean compassion. But then there's evidence that The Lord of Hate has exhibited that too.

We got Hoid to worldhop around the place and active all the other keys. So only one key is necessary for each world. And thus the key holders have the power to unmake the worlds.

I'm going to vote for Eolhondras as well. I've suspected him since D1, and since it doesn't look like we're ever going to lynch PK, I might as well be pragmatic about it.

STINK, care to elaborate on your reasons for voting Antillar?

Posted

Well Mailliw my leading suspects are you, PK and Eol.  I have no clue what to make of the write up although it was entertaining ;)

I think I am going to put pressure on Eol right now.  Wilson has laid out some good logic and I would like to see Eol's response.

I brought up my suspicion of Eol a couple cycles ago in a PM, and the person I was talking to confirmed that they also had some suspicions. And now with Wilson's evidence, I think Eol is a good vote.

It has a point, like most of the things I do.

Though, I do find this day interesting purely because it seems that everyone has decided that no discussion is really needed.

Well, calling people out for not discussing while making no discussion points doesn't really do much good. It's like a politician calling out another politician for doing the exact same thing they are doing.

I didn't call anyone out, just said I merely found it interesting.

Why did you see it as calling out?

My apologies, I assumed you stating "it seems that everyone has decided that no discussion is really needed." Was you calling everyone out for not discussing and instead just going along with the vote. Combine that with the fact that you are throwing out random votes for apparently no reason (at least none that you are giving), it seemed a bit hypocritical.

I just find comments like that a big ironic when the person making said comments is also not contributing to the discussing. Seems like a false face to me in a lot of situations, almost like the person in question is trying to seem like they are helping get the conversation started while not actually helping discuss anything.
