I don't really have a solid timeline; I'd just like to finally have something published to my name. So if you could take a look at within the next month or two, Silk, I'd really appreciate that.

Out of curiosity, where are you planning to submit it to?

Okidoke. I'll try to get something back to you by the end of January. I forget if you can share manuscripts directly here on Shard but feel free to DM for my email!

The idea was to plop it on Amazon and let that be it. I'm not opposed to submitting it elsewhere, I'd just rather take the guaranteed, faster route of having my work out there.

Sounds great, thanks!

Ok--if you want to self publish, send me a DM. Basically, putting it on Amazon with no support will guarantee you no sales.
Fortunately, I run a small press now, and I think this is a good story! I can work with you on final edits, get a good cover, and include this in my lineup of releases for 2023. It will get a lot more exposure. If that sounds like a good idea, we can talk.

Would anyone be keen to read a short story I've been working on? I've had a bit of trouble with writers block with this one, so I've only just finished a draft for it.
I was hoping to enter it into a short story competition which closes in a few days (5pm AWST 15th of March), so a quick turnaround would be appreciated. It's a touch under 1100 words (max is 1200).

Oof, I'm not going to be able to turn anything around that quickly but I hope someone is able to!

Sorry, normally I would be all over this, but its a busy week for me this week. If you send me a copy I could give it a look tomorrow but i understand that that is extremely close to the deadline

I'm guessing this is going to be a long shot since people aren't quite as active here these days but I'm looking to get feedback on a rewritten draft of Everlasting Sunset that I originally submitted here on RE. Anyone feel free to let me know if you're interested, and I'd be happy to trade novels to critique!

When are you looking for feedback by?

I don't have a hard deadline because I can work on editing for other books in the meantime. Ideally within 2-3 months but if someone thinks they'll need longer I won't say no

I hope I can manage 2-3 months! I'll shoot you a DM with my email (I'm pulling out of Gmail, so if you have an email for me it's probably the old one).

How many words? I would be up for it, though I read at a glacial pace, and I have a lot of distractions. Still, I like beta reading. Maybe I'll eventually get good at it.

It's around 130k words. Thanks for considering it and let me know if you'd like for me to send it over!

Go ahead and send it over. Do you have a sort of deadline? Like I said, my reading pace compares well with glaciers, so I can't promise anything quick.

I don't have a hard deadline, but I might start on revisions in a couple months or so. I'd still look at feedback I get after that point but my direction for revision would probably be more established at that time.

Okay. If you send it, do you want me to send critique a chapter at a time, or all at once? Personally I prefer the chapter by chapter method. There is certainly something to be said for reading the entire manuscript before making any critique, so that you know where the story is going and can take the end goals into account. However, my messed up pineal gland means I have a really bad shirt-term memory problem, so I have a hard time getting through a novel and remembering anything about it by the time I get to the end, so going a chapter at a time works better for me.
