April Fools day is well known for its viruses that get spread like crazy. And people are finally starting to target Macs with viruses, so Mac users, don't think you're safe.

So I went from "Tents" to "Permian Triassic Extinction Event" in about a half hour. Geology is frickin' interesting! And in that half hour, I also learned a lot about language families. Linguistics is frickin' interesting, too!

I still intend on doing it but I need to find the time for it. Next week is spring break for me so I might put it up then. it just seems like it'll be so much effort to mod one of these games that I've been kind of hesitant.

There is a scary amount of info out there about us. pending on how open someone is on the internet, not terribly hard. Heck, you could likely even figure out who i am by just googling my username on here, since i use it for every login, including things correlating to my real name. Though, using my email to try and figure out who i am may end up confusing you. My email is my first and last name, however, someone who apparently has the same first and last name as me seems to think its his email, and has done so for several years. I've even gotten emails from his mom. I've tried to convince these people that i'm not him, but to date, this doesnt seem to have worked. 1
Darth Squirrely she/her Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Som1, if you have a setup for a mafia game but you're hesitant to run it, I'd always be up for running it. I love modding mafia games. I can always throw a game together and put sign-ups up tomorrow or something, too.... >.>
SOM1else he/him Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I've been trying occasionally thinking about a setup for a game, but I haven't ever ran a game so I don't really know how to balance it out. I'm sure all of the info is online but I just need to get around to reading it up. I was part of a Mistborn Mafia game last summer on DM and I was thinking about taking that set up and making a few modifications to it.
Darth Squirrely she/her Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Yeah, balancing games was always an issue I had too; once you start adding in extra roles and stuff you gotta think a lot more about how the game is going to go, and make sure the balance is right. There are always more experienced mods on DM that would be happy to look over any setup you might come up with, to make sure it's okay and not breakable..... The Mafiascum wiki says basically first just go crazy with your game setup. Add whatever roles you want to, etc. After that, run through all the possible scenarios of how the game could go, and prune roles where necessary, or add more if you really want to keep one that's unbalancing the game. I guess the key is to make sure that no role gives the town or the mafia the upper hand. I might take the setup of the Mistborn game I'm in right now, after it's over, and run it here, with the mod's permission (he's my good friend, so he'd probably let me). Or I might come up with my own setup, or we could collaborate and co-mod a game, if that sounds interesting.
