Day 2: Multiples of Three

“Councilor Number Six?”

Six spun on her heel, tucking the ledger behind her back. “Ah! Councilor Teej. What are you doing here so late? Shouldn’t you be resting for tomorrow’s meeting? If it’s anything as fractious as today’s was, you’ll need all your energy to run it.” She cursed her misfortune. He wasn’t supposed to be anywhere near here right now! She had the proof, she had it! A traitor in the council!

Teej shrugged. “In times like this, I find rest hard to come by. There’s always something to be doing.” He leaned to the side, looking around her at the files spread out on the shelf. “We’re alike in that regard apparently. Always working.” He turned away and walked several paces to where the Voidfinder Fabrial was still softly glowing. “I had a nightmare, about this failing. Deepest Ones attacking us in council, slaughtering us all.” He tapped one fingernail against the softly glowing Heliodor at its heart. “I came to check on it.”

Six watched him stare at the fabrial, judging his sincerity. He looked lost in thought, so she slowly began to gather the files she had been looking at. “That does sound like an awful nightmare Teej. I’m glad we have the fabrials.”

“Mmm.” 

She kept an eye on him while she smoothly reorganized the papers. He never looked away from the fabrial, just watched it glow. Once she had everything put away neatly, she turned to go, only to stop dead in her tracks.

There was a Singer standing in between her and the door out. Tall and nude, femalen obviously. She was looking curiously at Teej, who still had his back to both of them. She turned at Six’s gasp, and raised one knife-like finger to her lips, before looking once again at Teej.

Six stood frozen, watching the Singer watch Teej. Her mind ran through every file on the Singers she had ever seen. This one was hairless, and had milky white eyes. It didn’t take long for her to make the connection. A Deepest one. The Fused who could walk through walls or sink into the floors. She could slaughter Six and Teej easily if she chose too. What was she doing?

“Have I ever asked why they call you Councilor Number Six?” Teej asked, tapping the sphere again. He didn’t look at her, didn’t see their death standing in the doorway.

In spite of everything, or possibly because she could see no way out, Six answered. “Ah, I think you did, when I first earned my seat. It was my mother. She wanted me to aim for heights, so she named me Councilor.”

Teej frowned, then turned to look vaguely towards her. Not enough that he would be able to see the Fused in his peripherals. The monster began to glide towards him, staying just out of his sight. Six held her breath. Was Teej her target? Could she survive if she just stayed quiet?

“She named you Councilor? Just that?”

“Well, no, Councilor Number Six specifically.” She stared at the Fused, who looked back at her and winked. “Umm. I was bullied for it a lot.”

“Huh. It’s sad what children will do, simply because of a name.” He turned back to the Fabrial. “I’m glad we have these. It gives a certain sense of security, a sense that no Fused can be near us. But I fear it will fail regardless. Everything built by human kind does, eventually.”

She blinked. The Deepest One had stopped, standing just behind him. She was examining him, but the Fabrial wasn’t alerting Him to her presence. “Umm, what if it has failed, sir?”

Teej turned to look at her curiously, and the Deepest One flowed with his turn, moving perfectly to stay behind him. “I would know if it had failed, surely. Everyone still feels secure after all.” He began walking towards the door, followed by the Fused. “It will only fail once you humans realize it’s a fraud. Until then, it serves its task, and Jojala doesn’t have to slaughter all of you. Now please stop playing with you food young one.”

There was a pulse of light, and Teej’s form momentarily vanished, replaced with another Fused, before reforming as Six herself. Six’s own voice came from it’s mouth. “If you don’t mind, I have Secretary work to get done.”

The Deepest One turned to face the real Six, mouth widening into a grin. The fake Six closed the door behind him, leaving Councilor Number Six alone with a killer.

She glanced over her shoulder at the files she had just hidden away. “Okay, I’m choosing to take this as a compliment honestly. Clearly I was too much of a threat to leave alive.”

The Deepest One darted across the room, sharpened carapace slashing across her throat, and Councilor Number Six spoke no more.

Queen Fen sipped her wine and regarded her cousin across the Lunch Table. “I have heard some interesting news about a certain vote, dear cousin.”

Noran carefully arranged some slices of fruit on her flatbread, before lifting the snack up to her mouth. She didn’t eat it, merely regarded it momentarily before looking up at Fen. “I’m sure you have. I meant no insult by it. In truth, I’m actually surprised it was as close as it was.”

Fen raised an eyebrow. “You voted for my removal from power, without meaning it to be an insult?”

Noran shrugged. “Consider it a wake up call, dear cousin. You have been abusing your authority as of late. Acting more like an Alethi dictator, rather than the elected monarch that you are. You’ve been making decisions without us, your Councilors.”

Fen did not grit her teeth, nor did she clench her fist on her winecup. Such displays of anger or control would mean nothing to Noran, her shrewdest of cousins. “I see. A protest vote then?”

“It accomplished several things. Hopefully, one of them was making you aware just had fragile your current position is. This grand coalition certainly is nice, and useful, but I hope you remember Thaylenah comes before the rest of Roshar in your priorities, your majesty.” Noran finally ate the snack, chewing thoughtfully.

“Less than half of my council voted in favor of me keeping my power.” Fen murmured. “Dvalk, Makkib, Mat, Fickle, and even Ensha voted with you against me.”

“Like I said, unexpected. Had I known you were this unpopular, you can rest assured that I would have voted against the motion.” Noran smiled, apparently genuinely. “Hopefully the next time such a motion is made, you will have demonstrated you have changed, and I and the others will vote to continue trusting your leadership.”

Fen eyed her in consideration. While she had numerous relatives, if she were to be deposed now, Noran was the most well positioned to be elected the new queen of Thaylenah. But she’d never before shown any inclination to take the throne. Had something changed? “I hope then, that you assure the others that I am taking their concerns very seriously, cousin.”

“I am ever loyal to you and to Thaylenah, and to the Coalition, cousin.”

illwei was killed by Corrupted! They was a Loyalist Council Secretary with a Loyalty of Two (2)!

The Following Decrees are in effect!

All players who vote for the executed player have their Loyalty increase by 2. All players who don’t vote for the executed player have their Loyalty decrease by 1.  

All Loyalty changes for the Cycle are doubled. 

At least 2 Parliamentarians are alive, so PM’s are open!

Also there are no hints in the writeup. I am only working with what people have role-played.

1. @Through the Living Hopper as Councilor #1, a Highspren who secretly possesses the first person to arrive at a mass murder site.

2. @Wahrheitswächter as Ralm, a Truthwatcher and one of the newest Merchants on the Thaylen City Council, after surviving an otherwise Disastrous Expedition to the Reshi Isles.

3. @coco.pudding as Essyn, a Ghostblood who is returning to the council after secretly causing a Disastrous Expedition to the Reshi Isles.

4. @Mystfall as Fickle, a Cognitive Shadow who joined the Council  due to a Letter of Endorsement from Archer.

5. @TwinStorm as Shemyn the Accused, a pirate who accidentally joined the council simply by stealing enough ships to count as a Fleet Lord. Now that he gets a cut of the Taxes, he's stopped robbing the Tax Collectors and instead wants Thaylenah's wealth to grow.

7. @Hoid Slayer as Tshanin, who buried his sister in the stars, so that every sailor would see her at night.

8. @Ascended Grubberfly as Dvalk, who once bet his belief on the flip of a card, and settled a debt in return for a council seat.

9. @Mat as Mat, one of the oldest council members, who is tired, and frankly too busy for this treaty nonsense.

10. @Ink and Embers as Ari, an Irian Immigrant who has cornered the painrial market in Thaylenah.

11. @The Unknown Character as Tin Capone Old Man Maker, a hole digger and post maker.

12. @WhimsyIsTheBestShard as Leb and Geb, the Twin halves of Lord Falwin.

13. @KaladinsSenseOfHumourSpren as Vivliktv, the legendary chef who invented Krem Sauce.

15. @Araris Valerian as Araris Valerian, a rather lost swordsman.

16. @Stardust as Ensha, a merchant conartist

17. @Archer as Noran, Cousin to the queen, but using Tyn's eye-darkening Contacts.

18. @KeyFox as Makkib, a former Skybreaker from Babatharnam.

19. @Asriel as Rbiren, a Natan Merchant who rose to Councilor status due to the favors and goodwill he collected at his hair solans scattered across the richer sections of Thaylen City.

20. @Alvron as Reavest, the Council's hidden hand and champion of Ishar.

Reasons:

1. The Deposition vote was extremely suspicious - to me it looked like he triggered it because TUC might not have. Previously in PMs he’d been against it.

2. Switching his vote from Mint to Twin is weird and suspicious.

A Single Parliamentarian cannot make Two decrees. Two decrees are in place this cycle, ergo, there are at least 2 Parliamentarians alive.

Edit: Also, is it just me, or does it look like someone *eyes Archer* wants to incentivize getting as many people as possible on one train this round? I’m not saying he’s a Parliamentarian but it sure looks like it. (He has negative loyalty and both parliamentarians used a negative loyalty action.)

Ah I see.

As I said in the PM, I’ve had bad experiences with role claiming in the past. But part of me also thought that distro information would probably be useful for solving and for potentially catching the elims in a lie so I thought maybe I should. 
So yeah, I was rather conflicted. I never gave you a straightforward answer because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. And by the time I decided no the cycle was almost over and I wasn’t able to get back to my phone in time.

So I will vote Myst now. He did initiated the Depo Vote, while he himself potentialy was in negativ Loyalty. Also last night he said that he had recieved only 1 claim of Negativ Loyalty and that a Deposition was surely fine then, but this is a Game where people do notoriously lie. Additionaly I really don't like that he wanted to use it as an Allignment scan for Twin.

I'm a little surprised they didn't kill Twin. Protecting is village indicative to me. We all assume it's 0/3 or 1/2, but this is confirmation of that.

So, everyone who votes on the executed player will have their loyalty increase by 4? Is that true? If that’s the case, myself, Archer, Myst, Grubberfly, KeyFox, and apparently Stardust surely must vote there. Now I’ve read the thread. We should just do what Archer said and consolidate.

Personally I think that Myst is just village here, I don’t see what e!them stands to gain from drawing undue attention to themselves by doing something that TUC was going to do anyway.

Why? If Twin is elim they wouldn’t kill him and if he’s village, that’s a wasted day cycle for us since they probably assumed we’d try to exe him today. Makes sense to me.

Random observations:

- We lost a role scan to Illewi; possibly the Elims knew their role or possibly they didn't but thought they were a threat anyway

- The deposition was close already; the Decrees mean if the Elims have a loyalty-changing role it could end badly. I agree with Archer that anyone calling a deposition should be exed after this. 

- There have been 3 Parliamentarians in this game so far. Chances are one of them's an Elim. Potentially a very role-heavy distro.

Still a light sus on Archer, but as he's now posting analysis of something other than the Odyssey, less than before. Light v!read on TUC for being so determined to call a deposition; undecided on Myst but not e!reading him for the deposition as someone was going to have to call it. I'll need to look over what else he's done to get a more solid read.
