They silence a minute, before Ebon spoke again. ”They’re called the Crimson Breath. The ones who set off the bomb. I… I didn’t know they could do that.” He bowed his head. He regretted this, Kai thought. This explosion was not part of any plan that people here knew about. Definitely not Ebon's. "What did they do?" Kai asked. "The Crimson Breath. Why were you hunting them down?" Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Crater Ebon pulled his hand away, wincing at the pain the motion sent through him. Funny. He hadn't minded the pain a second ago. Rusts. This man was way too trusting. Ebon was prepared for a trap, yet he seemed... sincere. Interesting. Ebon knew the more he said, the more he risked, but something in Kai's voice made him continue talking. "They stole something from me. A long time ago."

Yet as the years in the Alleyverse warped him, he found that his interest in biding time waned more and more. He shall come, a voice said in his head. Belias, his captor turned master was ever present in Perses' mind. At times, he wished for true solace. Yet without Belias, Perses knew, other voices would fill his mind. Ones far less helpful, and far less sane. A loud boom sounded at a nearby district. While Perses had trained himself to expand his selective hearing to expand with his senses, some sounds could not simply be tuned out. Certainly not explosions. where did that come from? Perses asked Belias. It was not near one of my Alleyways, Belias said, which was code for "I don't know, figure it out." Grunting, Perses tapped his hearingmind, listening to nearby conversations. "What was that?" "storms if I know" -- "--ou didn't want to be hit, you wouldn't talk back!" -- "Chouta! Fresh Chouta!" -- "--ounded like that came from around Indigo Street!" There. "You sure? That's where you work, isn't it?" "Yeah, I'm positive. Lets go check it out." -- Perses pushed off a manhole, shooting into the air. He could never be positive that the words of one person were correct, but with the power to barrel across the city within a few minutes, it didn't hurt to check. As Perses neared, his senses confirmed the conversation he had overheard. Crouching on the roof of a nearby building, Perses oversaw the chaos. A massive crater, clearly the source of the explosion, glowed brightly in his steelsight. This was an investiture explosion, Perses thought, storing away steelsight to avoid the eyesore. Instead, he tapped his lifesensemind and hearingmind. "--y stole something from me. A long time ago," said a distinctly nonhuman voice, gently pulsing rhythms as they spoke. Ebon? thought Perses. Skye said, moving between the Fused and Starseeker, as if a peacemaker between the two. Well, Starseeker had just shouted about Voidbringers. That was a fairly quick way to upset a lot of people nowadays. Where were Nalthians from, anyway? Reyx glimmered thoughtfully. "Uh... should I warn him about the Voidbringer fiasco?" "That might be a good idea," Cayansa agreed, finally making their way to the edge of the crater. A young man was sitting there, his leg bent at an awkward angle beneath him. "Are you alright?" Cayansa asked. "Well, no. Stupid question, really. I don't suppose you know anything about the explosion?" They knelt down and touched the healing fabrial to the man's wrist as he shook his head. "Oh well." There was a brief flash of Light and a faint snapping sound as the man's bones weaved themselves back together. "Excellent, it worked! Have a nice day. Or as good a one as possible, given the explosion." They tweaked some of the wires in the fabrial to minimise Light loss and continued to walk around the edge of the crater, squinting into the middle to see what was happening. Meanwhile, Reyx had flown over to Starseeker. "Hello. Um. Nice to meet you," they began, before realising they were still hidden. Appearing properly, they repeated themself, then continued. "You might want to avoid shouting about Voidbringers. It's a rather sensitive topic. Sorry." What do they see? What’s around them? These are all vital for creating a fleshed out experience where everyone can get a lot from each post, rather than just taking away pure dialogue. 2

Maybe it was just the adrenaline from the explosion wearing off. The random people calling him a demon and voidbringer probably weren't helping either. Just like all the papers for the last year, none of the stories contained any clues for his search. Despite this, Jerrin continued to search the paper each day. Anything he might find was worth the time spent. He liked to keep all avenues of information open. As he strode across the room, Jerrin allowed his speed storage to lapse, returning to normal speed. He unlocked a small safe on the wall and opened it, revealing a number of metal objects within. Removing a steel ring from one hand, he placed it inside. Just then, Jerrin's electrum shadows shook around him, a few falling to the floor. He tapped speed from one of his bracers, quickly steadying himself as a thunderous boom reverberated through the hideout. Several steelminds tumbled from the safe and clattered to the floor. He hurriedly tapped speed again, scooping the metalminds up and returning them to their place, then ran to the door. Jerrin emerged and looked around. Activity in the street had come to a halt as people stared in shock in the direction of New Hallandren, which seemed to have been the origin of the sound. Rusts, what's going on now?
