Cecillia, Mistwarrens, 1483 Aspen Row

Beep Beep Beep

Her sleeping form jerked up in bed as her alarm went off. She looked around her room, frantically searching for the source of the noise, before she realized it was the alarm clock she recently bought.

Rusts, that thing is loud!

The quiet murmur underneath her room tells her it must be at least 7am, as customers were already downstairs in the shop.

"7 already?" she mumbles to herself. "I must be missing something." Suddenly she sits bolt upright in her bed as she remembers that the mayor wanted to meet with her at 7:30. "Nonononono! I can't be late! Thirty minutes. I can make it!"

She rushes to her closet and quickly gets dressed, grabs a waffle and runs out the door hoping she can still make it in time

Khachah, Mistwarrens,
Khachah lay in his bed, staring up at the ceiling. The air splits open, revealing a night sky behind it. 1392. Not a sky of any world he's seen, but a sky none the less.

It's time to get up, Khachah.

"Already?" he says, his voice cracking.

Already. You need to get to know the city.

Khachah rises, and opens his door into the Wistwarrens, pulling up a hooded cloak. Rosharans are rare enough here, much less singers, and he can't afford to draw any undue attention.

Kaiden, Mistwarrens, some inn in the direction of the Sphere.

"Heeey Kai!" Skye sing-songed above Kai's head. "It's time to get up. I can't let you stay in bed all day again. Come on. The sun is out today." She poked at his face.

"Whatever. Fine. I'll get up." He rolled over and stood. He hadn't bothered to take his uniform off, he hadn't seen the point. He shoved his feet into his boots and looked at a mirror. His waist length red and black streaked hair was a tangled mess, half fallen out of its braid. He shrugged.

"What do you want me to do, Skye?"

"Go to the window. Look out at the sun. Then go out and find someplace to get food." She tried to haul his money pouch off the nightstand to him, but you only managed to get it to fall on the floor. "Come on. Lets go."

Kai sighed and picked up the bag, tying it to his belt. Then he opened the curtain and looked out over the dingy, grimy, rundown part of the city he was in. The sun did look kinda nice on it all. And it was warm enough for today. "Ok. Lets head to the Rosharin district. I haven't had Chouta since I got here." He headed down stairs to pay his bill and leave.

Perses, Mistwarrens, Bendalloy Bar

Perses sat in the newly rebuilt diner, comfortably sipping his tea. A few months ago, he would have entered a place like this disguised. However, times were changing, and he had no need to hide. His spikes on full display, he wore his awakened mistcoat, the daggers at the ends of its tassels absentmindedly waving in the nonexistent wind.

The bar was empty, save for the bartender. People had cleared out fairly quickly when Perses entered. It felt ironic, drinking tea at an empty bar, but Perses didn’t drink. He much preferred trusting his senses, and nowadays he already couldn’t trust his own thoughts. No need to muddy the waters further.

The bartender walked over to him, refilling his glass. Her hands were steady, with a composure that said she wasn’t scared of him. However, her heart indicated otherwise. he could smell the sweat beading off of her, and feel her heartbeat pounding in her chest.

Perses touched her arm, and she flinched. “That’s enough,” he said with a smile. “My friend should be here shortly. Until then, make yourself useful in the back.”

He didn’t worry about the woman overhearing their conversation. It was inevitable, really. But he liked having minimal distractions when meeting with someone.

Perses sipped his tea, gently tapping his foot on the bar stool. Any minute now.

@Koloss17 willing to pick up where I left you hanging?

One Year Ago

Ebonaryle, Mistwarrens, Bendalloy Bar

Ebon looked around warily as he made his way to the bar. The sun had just begun its daily crossing of the sky, and he made no effort to hide. He couldn’t have, even if he’d wanted to; while by now, most had heard in some way or form of the Husked One sleeping in the streets of New Fadrex, the crowd still parted around him with a mix of fear and wonder. Then again, the rumors likely weren’t in his favor.

The wooden boards of the bar’s entrance creaked under Ebon’s weight, yet there was no chatter in the establishment to go silent. Huh. Normally Ebon had to wait until after his arrival for them to all clear out. Not that he had visited any Alleyverse bars yet. But this was where Perses wished to meet, and in his current state, Ebon was happy to oblige.

Sure enough, as he pushed open the door, Ebon found Perses sitting lone in a table in the corner. The man was classy as usual, shredded cloak - what was it they called it? - waving in a hardly-there wind, sipping a cup of tea. As Ebon walked over, he caught the distressed glance of the bartender, who upon catching his eye, resumed washing mugs like her life depended on it. Carefully, Ebon pulled out a chair for himself and sat across from Perses. He was dimly aware of the pair of obsidian knives at his waist; an ambush was not a possibility he was yet ready to rule out.

”Hello.”

Saitaku, Mistkeep, unnamed street

Spoiler

It’s Unamed because I haven’t decided where exactly in Mistkeep he is, plus I wasn’t sure how the naming convention would go, I could find anything on it.

Saitaku pulled his brown cloak towards him, stepping into the street,

Hopefully no one noticed that

He wasn’t  a fool enough to chase the kid back into the Alleyways, the spike wouldn’t be worth the effort, plus, he’d be navigating by luck.

Glancing around, he tried to shadow a nearby gentleman, not close enough to cause alarm for the gentleman, but close enough for everyone to assume a relation.

What… what is this place? Whatever, wherever, I have to move, quickly.

Spoiler

For context, I’m starting my RP right after arriving in Alleycity, shortly after trying to kill Lux, based on what we talked about, I don’t believe we’re interacting after that for now, as Lux was fast and retreated further into the Alleyways,  but just in case.

Starseeker, New Hallandren, ???

Quote

How are streets named here?

Starseeker emerged from his room on the upper story and gracefully descended the flight of stairs, which looked like someone had dumped several buckets of paint in varying colours. He careful not to hit his head on anything; this building wasn't made to accommodate someone with the height of a Returned. Downstairs, his landlord - a man by the name of Kraril - was preparing breakfast.

Kraril glanced over his shoulder as Starseeker approached, his eyes lingering on the pouch of spheres Starseeker carried at his waist. Starseeker was still not used to the fact that no one worshipped him anymore. Sure, it made sense for Rosharans who'd never even heard about Returned before to not address him as 'Your Grace', but other Hallandren? It wasn't that he liked being worshipped, but it was odd nonetheless.

Starseeker set an infused diamond broam as payment. Kraril grumbled something about worthless foreign currencies, and Starseeker headed out into the streets of New Hallandren.

Quote

I'll keep RPing later.

I don't think anyone else is in New Hallandren.

Cayansa, the Corridor, a tiny inn

Cayansa Caprir, amateur artifabrian and marginally less amateur detective, fell out of the window with a shout. Admittedly, it had only been the ground floor, so the comedic value was greater than the pain. Perched on the windowsill, Reyx was laughing without pause, a sound that was beginning to almost feel natural. The mistspren didn't need to breathe, after all. Strangers circled around the pair, probably deciding it was too early to deal with them.

"Storm it," Cayansa said, picking themself up and dusting their tunic off, "You could've warned me."

I did! Reyx protested, flickering with light in their mirth, I explicitly said, Cayansa, if you keep leaning like that you're going to fall out the window! Did you listen? No!

Cayansa raised their hands in mock surrender. "Okay, okay. Did you see where Ria went?"

No, though I would guess she's heading to the Mistwarrens. She'd be inconspicuous enough there. Ah, you should've seen your face!

"What's wrong with my face?" Cayansa asked, leaning the other way through the window to grab a battered satchel. Other than not looking remotely Thaylen, of course, they thought.

What's wrong? Shall we start with the list of what's right? That one's far more manageable, Reyx teased, settling into Cayansa's hair, where their glimmering was a little less noticeable.

"Haha." Cayansa shut the window. It wasn't worth locking when the most valuable thing inside was a bedroll. "So, not the Mistwarrens today. There's a Rosharan district called the Sphere; I thought we could try our luck there? See if anyone can tell us ... well, anything."

Sounds as good as anywhere. Shall we?

Kaiden, The Sphere, wandering down a main road

"So, Skye, found me any chouta vendors yet?" Kai was a little less slumped, and a little less grouchy looking, no longer glaring are everyone and everything.

"No, not yet." Skye sounded distracted, fliting around looking at stuff. "This is weird! So similar to home compared to that last part of the city, yet so different! Ooh!" She flew up and looked over the crowd "Hey Kai! I think I see another radiant!!"

She flew back to him. "Over there!" she pointed, "That ragged looking girl with the frizzy Gold hair! That hair is so pretty..."

"Stay on task Skye. Why do you thing she's Radiant?"

"Oh! right, sorry. There's a mistspren in her hair! Trying to blend in with her hair cause it's so shiny."

"Huh. OK." He wandered over towards Cayansa. "Hi. I'm Kai, and I'm trying to find my way in this part of the city." Skye appeared next to him, full size, with her hair tips purple, meaning she was visible to Cayansa too. She was grinning wildly. "Care to help a fellow Radiant out? I can buy you chouta?"

Cayansa, The Sphere, also wandering down a main road

Hey! There's a Radiant! Reyx called down, flickering out of Cayansa's hair and onto their shoulder. And an Honorspren, so ... Windrunner?

Cayansa was startled from their analysis of the buildings and looked around them, spinning in a circle. "What? Where?"

"Hi," someone said, and Cayansa span around, satchel nearly slamming into a short Alethi man with long red-black hair and a deep blue uniform. "I'm Kai, and I'm trying to find my way in this part of the city."

Beside him, an honorspren with purple-tipped hair and a large grin appeared, about as tall as Kai.

"Care to help a fellow Radiant out? I can buy you chouta?"

"Ah! A person! I'm Cayansa Caprir! Nice to meet you!" Cayansa beamed back at them. Reyx lifted themself up out of their hair and hovered to the side, glinting rapidly. "We're not Radiant," Reyx added, voice sounding like shattering glass, "Yet, at least."

"No," Cayansa quickly agreed, "Anyways! We're also ... very, very new to the area, so we may not be the most helpful, but is there anything we can do?"

They freeze mid-sentence, "Uh, what's chouta again?" they whispered to Reyx.

"It's a Herdazian street food," Reyx replied, amused, "You knocked over at least three stands selling it in Urithiru."

"Oh." Cayansa turned back up Kai. "Yes please, I'd love to try it! And enthusiastic purpleish honorspren, what's your name?"

"Oh ok. Sorry for assuming." Kai grimaced at his mistake. "I would still love to get you chouta. I'm looking for a gathering place for Radiants, like Urithiru back home. Maybe we can look together." He didn't want to say anything aloud, but this... person, Skye's assumption of them being a her felt wrong, looked scared, a bit. Nervous. And judging by their clothes, looked like she needed some help.

"Hi I'm Skye! Nice to meet you! I like your hair." Skye stepped up to them and tried to shake their hand, though her touch was very light. "Are a girl? Kai is thinking you aren't and it was rude of me to assume." She turned to Reyx, "And you too! What's your name?"

"Sorry to ask, but how long have you been in Alleycity? I've only been here a week or so." Kai asked as he followed Skye toward a place where she thought there would be chouta.

Reyx gave a startled glimmer at being addressed. You did fly up and start talking to them, Cayansa thought to them, And they seem friendly enough.

I know, but that still doesn't mean I'm expecting a conversation!  they replied.

"Uh," Reyx said, "I'm Reyx. They them. As well. Nice to meet you?"

Cayansa gave them an encouraging grin, then turned back to Kai and Skye. "We arrived yesterday morning, in the middle of a park. Reyx immediately dragged us both off to an area with lots of painted walls - the Corridor, I think? - and we headed here this morning. Have you seen any other Radiants? That might help us work out where the equivalent Urithiru is."

Out of curiosity, do you pronounce Kai to rhyme with fly or with weigh, or something else entirely?

"Oh ok. Like some spren! I know a bunch that go by they/them. Hi Reyx! Sorry to bug you." Skye rooted around as a red leaf, leading then to a chouta stand.

"Nice to meet you too Reyx." Kai glanced in the direction of the Corridor. "Yesterday eh? Ok. I haven't met any other Radiants here, but its mostly safe to ask around. As long as you stick with me and we avoid places that are shady and the Mistwarrens we'll be safe." They arrived at a chouta stand and Kai purchased two, and handed one to Cayansa.

"Thank you very much!" Cayansa took a bite of the chouta. "This is nicer than I expected, actually."

Avoid the Mistwarrens, Reyx said, settled back in Cayansa's hair again. Noted. So maybe don't head there unless you're a full Shardbearer.

Until? Cayansa thought back hopefully.

That depends on you at this point, Reyx replied, but not without a hint of humour.

"What's wrong with shady places?" Cayansa asked Kai, eating some more chouta, "Is that how you get to the Alleys? We didn't see much of them on the way here, which sounds like it was a good thing. There was someone telling horror stories about the Alleys in the Corridor, though that may not have been the most reliable source of information. Did you come with anyone?"

How long after (if at all) era 8 is this set?

Quote

I was thinking about 1-2 years after.

Cecillia, Mistwarrens, Main Street

Cecillia skidded around the final corner of the Mistwarrens’ central plaza, her boots kicking up a spray of damp, grey slush. She didn't slow down as she reached the makeshift "Town Hall"—a repurposed warehouse reinforced with rusted sheet metal.

She burst through the heavy oak doors, a cloud of cold mist clinging to her orange hair like a halo. She was still swallowing the last dry lump of her waffle, nearly choking as she began to speak before her lungs had fully recovered.

"My apologies for the temporal discrepancy, Mr. Mayor," she chirped, her voice echoing off the corrugated metal walls. She didn't wait for a greeting. She was already at his desk, leaning forward at a precarious forty-five-degree angle. "I was waylaid by a fascinating auditory data point regarding illegal cargo at the docks. Did you know the resonant frequency of a wooden crate being dragged over Elendel cobblestones is markedly different from the sound it makes on Mistwarren grit? It’s a compelling variable for your district's logistics reports."

The Mayor of the Mistwarrens, a man whose face looked like a map of every bad decision made in the slums, stared at her with a mixture of exhaustion and genuine alarm. He opened his mouth to bark a reprimand, but Cricket was already moving. She began burning Tin. Suddenly, the dim room flared into high definition. She could see the individual pores on the Mayor's nose, the slight tremor in his left pinky finger, and the faint, sweet scent of cheap gin masking the sour smell of stress sweat. She could hear the frantic scratching of a clerk’s pen three rooms away and the heavy, rhythmic heartbeat of the guard standing behind her.

"You're breathing at twenty-two inhalations per minute, Mr. Mayor," she observed, her hazel eyes darting across his face like a hummingbird. "High for a sedentary position. Are you experiencing a cardiovascular event, or are you currently engaged in intentional obfuscation regarding the Survivorist cell I’m here to discuss? Because honestly, the latter is much more useful for my encyclopedia."

"Alstom," the Mayor growled, slamming a meaty hand onto the desk. "You’re twenty minutes late, you smell like a bakery, and you’re currently violating three city ordinances regarding the interrogation of public officials."

"Social hierarchies are such a fascinating, if inefficient, barrier to data acquisition," she replied, completely oblivious to his rising anger. She reached back and absentmindedly fingered the scar at the base of her neck. As she did, she began storing the exact layout of the papers on his desk—including a partially covered map of the sewers—into her Copper spike.

"Don't touch that," the Mayor warned, noticing her hand near her neck. He, like many in the district, had heard rumors about the 'spiked girl' and found it unnerving.

"It’s just an archive, Mr. Mayor. Efficient, if invasive," she said dismissively. She tapped her Chromium metalmind, a tiny spark of Fortune flowing into her. I need him to be cooperative, she thought. At that exact moment, the heavy door behind her creaked open.

A young messenger, looking terrified, stumbled in. "Sir! The Constabulary... they’ve just detoured to the North End. The path to the 'safe house' you mentioned is clear for the next hour." Cricket’s eyes lit up with a terrifying, effervescent glow. "A clear path? What a remarkable stroke of luck! That must be where my Survivorist is hiding." She turned back to the Mayor, her satchel already swinging as she prepared to bolt.

"Thank you for the data, Mr. Mayor! Our 'study group' session was most productive. I’ll send you a transcript once I’ve cross-referenced it with the extremist's testimony!" Before the Mayor could even stand up to stop her, Cricket was a blur of orange hair and leather straps, disappearing back into the mists with a relentless, forward-leaning urgency.

@Hoid Slayer If we want, we can roleplay a flashback sequence that potentially sets up a relationship that the two have in the future, or we can say something like Ebon was a no show or something and move on from it. I’m down for whateverer.

Saitaku, Mistkeep, unnamed street

  Reveal hidden contents

For context, I’m starting my RP right after arriving in Alleycity, shortly after trying to kill Lux, based on what we talked about, I don’t believe we’re interacting after that for now, as Lux was fast and retreated further into the Alleyways,  but just in case.

@CoderDrag0n8

Spoiler

Nah its fine.

Lux, Alleyways

Lux got up in the morning, tired.

Slept in the alleyways this time. That cant be good. Last time I slept in here... At least the bond is permanent.

He slowly got up and stretched.

Exit to the city is right over there.

At least Fractal was still here. Lux needed too explore more of the city.

That... person was weird. Hope we dont run into them again...

Out loud, he said, "Fractal, get in." And he opened up part of his shirt to hide Fractal in the bends.

Fractal hid in his shirt, and Lux decided to get a better look at the city. He is slowly getting more confident venturing out, and he is exited for the brand new day.

Does anyone have an opening Lux can materialize into?

Kaiden, The Sphere, Ruthar Street.

"Well... Not always. The Alleys are dangerous. Very dangerous. I got here through an unusual route into the alleys and spent very little time in them. I'd recommend staying away from them at all costs, honestly. But that is the part I'm less concerned about to be honest. There are criminals in this city, and its good to avoid where they may lurk. I have been told that the Mistwarrens, where I have spent most of my time till now, are worse than other places; but on the other hand, I was jumped and someone tried to mug me five minutes after I arrived here. I then spent most of a year helping a police officer, so I've gotten accustomed to being wary." He took a bite of chouta.

" No, I didn't come here with anyone, so far as I know. Just me and Skye. We got sucked through Honor's perpendicularity when Nalan the Herald did something to me at a battle in Tukar." Kai glanced down, sadly. "Got a bunch of people back there I miss. I hope I'll see them again someday."

Just a reminder for everyone on here, you do always need to include your small intro with your character name, district, and location. Thanks!!

Genali'poonulah'likum'kai, Mistwarrens, an alley of a building across the street from Town hall

@Akimikoisthecutest

Genali'poonulah'likum'kai, leaned against the building behind him. He watched the "Spiked Girl" enter the warehouse that was being used as a town hall. The cool air blew against his hot skin. How can they let an abomination just waltz around?  He thinks, looking at the people walking along the streets Airsick lowlanders. His fingers itched to grab his sidearm and blast her to Damnation where she belonged. But no, it need to be dealt with quietly. He glanced around to find 2752 hovering by his head, a rift in the air.

"Ready?" She asks.

"Always" he answers.

"Are you sure? Double checked everything?"

He hesitates "No" he admits. He begins going through his supplies, Stormlight check, metal vials check

"Remember, she's a tineye and a spinner along with her spike"

He grunts in acknowledgement Speed....not as much as I'd like but should be enough. Check.

"So she'll probably hear you coming if you're not careful"

Short swords check. Guns...1 2 3 check. Ammunition check. Wait... What did she say? He curses. "Tineye, right. You're a lifesaver.". He starts rearranging his gear so it wouldn't make noise as he moved.

The pinpricks of light in, or was it on, her form seemed to shine a bit brighter. "At least you're listening, unlike last time."

"I thought we agreed not to talk about that"

"I'm not, talking about it, I'm referencing it."

He frowns "There's a difference?"

"Of course, in one you're-wait she's left!"

Fire turns around to see the spiked girl dash from the building along the street, obviously going somewhere urgent. He curses and to follows her from the alleys.

Cecilia, Mistwarrens, Alleyways behind the "Town Hall" building

She burned tin.

Not much, just a little bit.

Click, Click, Click

The sound of metal clinking on metal.

Friend or foe.

That is the question.

She wonders if she should take cover, or draw her weapon, but she freezes instead, waiting for this person to show up.
